I avoid TV. I turned the cable off during the Iowa Primaries. I saw Ted Cruz in my living room and I was DONE! All the news I get is from websites and sometimes I don't check out the news for days. I also hear the news from the radio once in a while. I frequently have anxiety issues. I'm currently unemployed, and sadly can't retire yet. And I will be needing to replace my car, dishwasher, and possibly refrigerator. I deal with all that by getting exercise and meditating. There is an app for your phone my daughter's psychiatrist recommended when she had some postpartum issues. The app is called CALM. The first 7 days are free. Good meditations. I meditate daily, and sometimes more often. It has greatly improved the quality of my sleep.

I don't remember the last time I donated blood, it has been a few years. I cannot give blood in the US because I lived in Germany in the 1980s and therefore could (in theory) be a carrier of Mad Cow disease. And judging from my consistently single status, I would have to say the above is a true statement and not likely to change for me any time soon.

Moving from level 7 to level 8 took me a couple of months. Going from 8 to 9 took many months. I've been here 11 months, made level 9 about 3 weeks ago, I think. There are some that spend way more time here and post more than I do and have progressed more quickly. However, at the rate I'm going, I will be level 10 in about 3 years. I am OK with that, I am here because I find value in the relationships and conversations here.

Thoughts of suicide are not uncommon. IF you have a plan, please tell someone NOW. If you are making plans then it is a large red flag. I have had a plan in the past, but it was nebulous and very circumstantial. I knew that I had too much to live for and I'd never cause that much pain to those I loved.

Have you tried meditation? There is a great phone app called CALM that has guided meditations. It is excellent, I am sleeping much better since I've been meditating regularly. I'm still alone and self sufficient, but calmer about it.

I was at a Book Club meeting today, we are all secular Humanists, two of the members are also a members of Ag.com. Someone asked the question "have we all voted yet?" and we all had. Pretty much broadly we all voted a straight Democratic ticket, this is a group in Eastern Nebraska/Western Iowa, conservative central.

I was wearing my agnostic.com shirt in my gym. An older lady (I'm 60, so older to me is 80ish, she was tiny and appeared frail) approached me and asked if my shirt meant that I don't believe "in our lord and savior Jesus Christ?" I told her that No, I didn't believe or talk to imaginary friends in the sky. I thanked her for asking and wished her a good day, and headed off down the walking track. I didn't want the poor dear having a heart attack on me!

My Google account does have the numbers, however, that means I have to have access to a computer that I trust. 3 years ago I worked on Thanksgiving day. It was snowing, roads were crappy. My first break, my phone hit the tile floor and was done in. So, IF I had troubles on the way home I had no way of calling for help. Scary stuff. Luckly we survived the day and I went shopping on Black Friday for a new phone. Usually I will not go shopping then, but...

I have way too much stuff, stuff that I have dragged around for years. Since I have been off work one of my projects has been to sell stuff on eBay. I have sold some clothing that no longer fits, and have more to sell. I have some china pieces and collectibles to sell. Selling small stuff like that requires good pictures, so I also made a photo studio. The frame is a 2 ft X 2 ft cube of PVC pipe. I sewed essentially draperies for three sides out of white fabric. I will place lamps on both sides. The bottom top and front are open, the bottom will be covered in white fabric and I can places platforms under the fabric to elevate items as needed. The ceramic in the photo studio is one that will be up for sale here in the next few weeks. I get rid of my excess and make a couple of bucks, what is not to like.

I was just now able to sign up for insurance coverage at my new job! I also enrolled my 20 year old ...

I am mentally prepping for Thanksgiving which is coming up in a few weeks in the US. I have been mostly sugar free and vegetarian, which Thanksgiving won't be. I also have done intermittent fasting, and really most days I don't care IF I eat, but I know I have to eat to lose fat and not muscle. So learn the lesson and get back on track. My philosophy is "The NEXT bite." Don't put it off til tomorrow, get back on track with the very next bite.

My cats have dry food out all the time and get canned food in the morning. The younger cat thinks the dry food is toys, she will deliberately knock it out of the bowl and bat it around the kitchen floor until it goes under the stove. She even has managed to lift the bowl to knock out more pieces all at once. That fur girl is diabolical!

We need to remember that models in magazines are air brushed to within an inch of their lives. Have you ever looked at a fashion magazine? About 75% is advertising. The other 25% is articles introducing you to problems you didn't know you had. Why do gals shell out so much money for something that makes them feel worse about themselves. They're essentially buying advertising and paranoia. If every woman in the world woke up tomorrow and decided they liked their bodies, the fashion industry would fall apart. What every woman (and men too) needs to say to herself every day is that I am enough. I AM Enough! I am good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, and enough for this world to handle.

I didn't buy candy, and didn't turn on my porch light. I have not given out candy since I've lived here. The first couple of years I was here I worked night shifts and wasn't home. I don't even know if there were trick or treaters this year, I didn't look out. I don't keep candy in my house, it is too tempting for me. My grandchildren are still too young for trick or treat. So I was comfy on my sofa with my laptop all evening.
