I have given up on dating apps, since I am not willing to relocate I will have to meet someone locally. Well, that ended with the Pandemic. Post pandemic the only way I'm likely to meet someone is if they are a member of one of my meetup groups. my main one is a Humanist group. Where I live it ...

@1of5 I don't know where you live, but Washington State has a few Humanists groups: https://americanhumanist.org/get-involved/find-or-start-a-chapter/ I hope you can find one near you. The Omaha group is visible on MeetUp. I lived in the Seattle/Tacoma/Snohomish area for about 6 years way back in the 90s, in fact moved in 1999. I loved it out there, that is where I realized how liberal I really was. Moved to Kansas, and now Nebraska. Oy, conservative bastions. But my kids and grands are nearby. I'm pretty well entrenched here.

HippieChick58 replies on Jan 16, 2021:
Google says: Denouement: the final part of a play, movie, or narrative in which the strands of the plot are drawn together and matters are explained or resolved. "the film's denouement was unsatisfying and ambiguous" the climax of a chain of events, usually when something is decided or made clear. "I waited by the eighteenth green to see the denouement" and anagnorisis the point in a play, novel, etc., in which a principal character recognizes or discovers another character's true identity or the true nature of their own circumstances. "we see the tormented figure of Oedipus come to recognize the truth in a classical moment of anagnorisis" So, not the same thing but similar. And I'm sure that could be debated.

@Flowerwall "benefitted some of the population" means that there were significant members of the population that the status quo has passed by. Low mortgage rates mostly affect white folks and especially in the suburbs. Redlining is a real thing, makes it harder for blacks to qualify for those low mortgage rates to get loans. And yes, lack of jobs and biased hiring practices affect so many. With my children having small children and busy schedules I'm not going to agitate. Those few times the ex and I have to be together we're civil. If he does get obnoxious two of the daughters will rip him a new one. We ended up in a car together one time, he tried to tell us xian reasoning, and the son in law took him up on that debate and beat him to shreds. I thought it was kinda amazing.

The quilt ended up in my guest bedroom, and then when I started working from home the desk was put in the guest room and I knew the quilt had to go, so the lap quilt I had started grew into a full size quilt and was put on the bed. The old quilt was sent to some friends who admired it. Throw quilts and lap quilts are very welcome at nursing homes and senior centers. HippieChick58 replies on Dec 29, 2020:
Eidetic memory (/aɪˈdɛtɪk/ eye-DET-ik; more commonly called photographic memory) is the ability to recall an image from memory with high precision for a brief period after seeing it only once,[1] and without using a mnemonic device.[2] Although the terms eidetic memory and photographic memory are popularly used interchangeably,[1] they are also distinguished, with eidetic memory referring to the ability to see an object for a few minutes after it is no longer present[2][3] and photographic memory referring to the ability to recall pages of text or numbers, or similar, in great detail.[4][5] When the concepts are distinguished, eidetic memory is reported to occur in a small number of children and generally not found in adults,[2][6] while true photographic memory has never been demonstrated to exist.[5][7] The word eidetic comes from the Greek word εἶδος (pronounced [êːdos], eidos) "visible form".[8]

HippieChick58 replies on Dec 23, 2020:
That is a oscillating fan. I have a few in my house. Oscillate: verb gerund or present participle: oscillating 1. move or swing back and forth at a regular speed. "a pendulum oscillates about its lowest point" 2.PHYSICS vary in magnitude or position in a regular manner around a central point

@Theresa_N if you write down your point total every night I am fairly sure you will see some point increases every day, or at least every day that you are on. I'm in the middle of level 9, and it seems like I have been here forever. However, points are not the main reason I'm here... although I grant that I do keep an eye on my points. I just enjoy it here, and with the pandemic there isn't much else to compete for my time and attention.

HippieChick58 replies on Dec 17, 2020:
It is Acadian, or Cajun. They're essentially the same thing. I lived in Louisiana for almost 2 years (totally too long) and I did learn some of the history. From Wikipedia: In Louisiana, Acadian and Cajun are often used as broad cultural terms without reference to actual descent from the deported Acadians. ... Historically, Louisianians of Acadian descent were also considered to be Louisiana Creoles, although Cajun and Creole are often portrayed as separate identities today. http://www.acadian-cajun.com/acadiancajun.htm And if you want a semi interesting story, read about the Evangeline Oak. https://explorepartsunknown.com/southern-louisiana/a-cajun-myth-an-oak-tree-and-a-search-for-meaning/ I was fascinated by it because of some health information that came to light. Many Acadians are having babies with a disease usually found among the Jewish population, Tay Sachs disease. It is suggested that the Jews that were removed from Jerusalem during the diaspora settled in France and became absorbed into the population. That population then were among those that went to Canada then Louisiana. And yes, I am a Geek.

@yvilletom No, my stepmother was an abused child who never had kids of her own. She got 6 when she married my dad, 3 were out of the house already, I was the oldest at home. She not only had issues, she had full subscriptions. She liked to spy on the neighbors and discuss what she saw with anyone she could. She wanted us to turn over our paychecks to her. Fortunately my dad stopped that. She hated any mention of our mother. My mom died 6 months before she married my dad. She would talk shit about how my mother did so much stuff wrong. Both my sisters went to live with other relatives, they figured I was old enough to stand up to her. I joined the Army after HS to get out of her house.

Literally, that was the first question. So I changed to another doc, and second appointment with that doc she did not even mention my 30 pound weight loss. I changed insurance and had to change docs, and I like my new doc, I think I might have found a keeper.

@linxminx If quilting were all you did, yes maybe. And if you have space and money. I wonder if they offer financing like a car. I think if you own a long arm then it pretty much becomes a business to get it paid off. I make quilts for a hobby, I don't want to take the joy out of it by turning it into a business. That said, I wish I knew about long arm quilting machines long ago. I might have put one on the ex's credit card before the divorce got started. It would have changed some of the dynamics, but I don't think it would have stopped the divorce.
