And sometimes I use waxed cloth as a wrap for stuff to take in my lunch. Before waxed paper our foremothers and forefathers used cloth embedded with wax to wrap stuff for storage, and twine was used to keep it secure. It could be washed, gently pressed and reused almost forever.

I don't like to rush the holidays. I have a child with a Dec 5th birthday. I used to wait until after her birthday to put up Christmas stuff so that her birthday would be special and not lost in the Christmas activity. One year at Thanksgiving she asked me "can we PLEASE put up Christmas decorations tomorrow?" I figured she was good to go with the birthday stuff. I let them put the Christmas stuff out. Now, I live alone, I don't even bother with a tree.
