My cats can jump from the floor to the top of my washer, to a shelf, and from there they can get in the floor between the main floor and basement. That is where they go when they hear the garage door open or the doorbell ring.

I have to tell you, my heart cat was the one in the first picture. She would sleep with me just like that, and if I rolled over I'd just scoop her up and take her with me and neither one of us would wake up for more than 3 seconds. My current girls, not so much. They're not sure about this full body contact yet.

HippieChick58 comments on Sep 9, 2018:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OK_(gesture) Alt-right The OK hand gesture has been associated with Trump supporters and the alt-right at least as far back as early 2015.[10] In February of 2017, users on the anonymous imageboard /pol/ of 4chan set out on a prank to convince mainstream media outlets that the OK hand gesture had been hijacked for use by white supremacists to signal one another publicly.[11] The pranksters claimed that the three upward fingers of the OK hand sign represented the letter “W” while the circle formed by joining of the index finger to the thumb leading down the arm represented the letter "P". The acronym formed by "W" and "P" was asserted to be shorthand for “White Power.” The original thread produced infographics explaining this usage concisely, which were subsequently spread to many different media outlets according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The hoax began to gain traction when media outlets began reporting on the usage of the OK gesture as if it were, in fact, being used as a white supremacist hand gesture.[12] Most of these media outlets have since recanted their statements, citing the official response from the ADL.[citation needed] The ADL has confirmed that the OK gesture is not a white supremacist hand sign.[13] However, while the "OK" sign as a specific white power symbol was found to be a 4chan prank, it has been used as a gesture of identification among members of the white nationalist alt-right movement.[14] When asked about use of the "OK" sign, Right wing celebrity Lauren Southern said, “We just say ‘do the thing’ and everyone knows what you're talking about.” She linked use of the "FU" sign by the Alt-Right community to a gesture commonly used by United States President Donald Trump.[15] In July 2018, four Alabama police officers were suspended for being photographed making the hand gesture, since changing the uncertainty of the acceptable use of the sign.[16] Some Internet users have accused people in the political sphere of using the gesture.[17][18][19]

Modern slavery
HippieChick58 comments on Sep 9, 2018:
This is also why employer provided health care contributes to slavery. I hung on to my job because of health care benefit. They decided (and I agreed) that it wasn't a good fit and I was given a choice of resign or micromanaging and eventual termination, and I chose to resign. Whereas I'm very fortunate that I have some income independent of the workplace, I don't have affordable health care. I am saying I'm "retired" but lack of insurance is scary. Can you imagine how many small business would start up if everyone had healthcare? What a boost to the economy, but that might be (gasp) socialism or worse! To me it is just goo sense.

Three Words???
HippieChick58 comments on Sep 9, 2018:
What do you need me to do? What can I do for you? True story. A man's wife needed a kidney transplant. He joined a program to donate his kidney to a stranger so that a stranger's kidney would be donated to his wife. There were 12 people involved in this exchange, coordinated by several hospitals. The logistics make my head spin. But six kidney recipients and six donors, and countless hospital staff worked on this, so many factors of matching blood types and tiny details. Donating a kidney is hard, it is several weeks of recovery not to mention major surgery and the chance of dying. That says love louder than anything. I know about this because the man was my short term disability claim. He was willing to die for his wife. When I told him how cool I thought it was he said "how could I not?" Wow.

I think gainful employment of any kind is good, or retirement is fine as well. Back when I was first single the economy sucked and I knew lots of people that had gone from office jobs to retail, just to have a job. You do what you have to do. And yes, it is what we both bring to the relationship that is most important. I am more likely to judge (that is a harsh word, how about evaluate) someone on what they do when they aren't at work, how they treat others, what they like to do, personal habits.

Label wars over faux meat [seattletimes.
HippieChick58 comments on Sep 8, 2018:
If I eat meat (not often) I want to know where it came from and what it was fed or treated with. I don't want this faux meat that is glued together, and I don't want meats pumped full of antibiotics and feces. When I eat non meat that is the point, no animal products. I'd love to see the labeling laws improved. If it says veggie burger that is what I am expecting, a patty made of veggies. I surely hope there is no meat in there. Good gracious. Pork producers lost my trust long ago, I know what kind of conditions those animals are kept in, and that is BS.

What is your favorite place you've ever lived?
HippieChick58 comments on Sep 8, 2018:
I have moved 23 times in my life. I was military, married my ex who was also military and stayed in til he retired, and then moved 3 times after he retired from the military and then 4 moves after divorce. So I have lived all over the US and overseas, and have ended up 50 miles from where I was born. That was not in the original life plan... Anyway, I loved Western Washington State best of all. We lived in/near Tacoma/Seattle/Everett area. So beautiful, so liberal, so many activities to do. Second favorite was the Kansas City area. I enjoyed the East Coast, so much history. Loved being close to DC, but hated the crowds, the traffic, the crumbling infrastructure. I loathed being in the south, don't deal well with heat/humidity/insects the size of cars/attitude. I also loved living in Germany, the distance thing though, can't get in the car and drive to my sister's house.
