Listen to the music???
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 23, 2019:
Nice picture!! I have a radio on all the time, tuned to "adult contemporary" music. My kids tell me I've been listening to the same 100 songs all my life. Sounds good to me.

HippieChick58 comments on Mar 23, 2019:
We need to redefine successful, or at least define it for ourselves, not what "society" or "TV" deems success is. I have achieved success in many areas of my life. My success is 3 adult kids who are good citizens and just awesome good people, and people I truly like to spend time with. I have created things that will live on after me and give other people pleasure. I have helped people, both in my professional life and my private life. I do not earn a huge income, and I don't drive a fancy car. I am not model thin, and I don't live in a huge house. I don't consider myself pretty. But I'm real which I think is more important, and I'm kind, I'm smart, and I'm living my life on my terms. I consider my life a success. If anyone disagrees they can kiss my not so tiny hiney.

I also have some serious reservations. There are so many emotional issues to work through with divorce that it will really be a while before they are healed and really ready to be dating again. It depends on what you want. I'm looking for the long run, and someone fresh from or not yet divorced is not a good candidate for that. Now if you just want a fling, sure, that is a great situation for that. Hot and fast. Same for widowers. Be used to being alone before you're knocking on my door.

Not worth your time and investment. Mary Kay, Avon, Discovery Toys, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Longaberger Baskets, Amway, etc, etc are all MLM schemes. They suck you in, and unless you have selling in your blood and lots of well heeled friends, you will not make money. I do not have a gene for selling, I've tried. I sold commerical insurance that included Medicare Supplements. I refer to that as a period of underemployment plus no benefits. It was post divorce and the economy had just tanked, it was a really bad time. I have sold Mary Kay and Avon while I was a stay at home mom. I have hosted parties for Tupperware and Pampered Chef. I don't know if it is a pyramid scheme, but it is pyramid marketing. You're making someone else rich. For me, steady income and hours plus benefits are a much better use of my time.

The primary object of commercials and other advertising is to convince you that you NEED that product. They have to convince you that you are not complete without it. If you ever look at a fashion magazine it is about 75% advertising and 25% articles about what is wrong with you, why, and how to fix it, and you're paying $12.99 for that service plus ads. Dealing with that demon in my head that likes to remind me of my failures is done with meditation. It works for me. And I have forgiven myself for being human, and for the stuff that is and was out of my control. It isn't a one and done deal, it is every day and sometimes many times a day. It has taken me a long time to come to this point, and I'm hoping I gave my kids a healthier upbringing than what I had. I'm pretty sure of it. The old Helen Reddy song comes to mind: Oh yes, I am wise, but it's wisdom born of pain. Yes, I've paid the price but look how much I gained. If I have to I can do anything.

I have a "mama bear" streak, I look out for my cubs and my broad definition of "my cubs" is anyone who is weak and in need of help. When I looked at scriptures with an eye open for fair treatment of the weaker, I was dismayed. I think that is when my fall from xianity was accelerated.
