LOL! My son in law had cats Charles and Elizabeth when he met my daughter. My daughter's middle name is Elizabeth, and she loves Elizabeth the most. And personally, Elizabeth scares me, she is not a friendly kitty, but she is an efficient mouser, so she has some redeeming qualities.

Tithonia from my 2014 garden.
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 11, 2018:
Love the color! I had to look up Tithonia. Tithonia, also called Mexican Sunflower, is an annual plant that is native to Mexico and Central America. This drought tolerant plant likes warm weather. Tithonia blooms from summer to fall. The daisy-like flowers in orange and yellow, grow 2 1/2" to 3 inches across.I learned something new today! Thank you!

Hey singles, are you comfortable going to a nice restaurant or a movie/play alone?
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 10, 2018:
I don't often go to movies or plays alone, but I have a few times. I go to nice restaurants alone often enough. The problem is I'm cheap. Why go to a movie when I can watch it at home and pause it when I need to.
Most members of my family do not recycle or conserve anything.

Does anybody else hate using public bathrooms as well as other people’s bathrooms?
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 10, 2018:
Nope. When I gotta go I go where I am. I spent 6 years in the Army when I was in my early 20s, when you're out in the woods you're just happy for something to wipe with. More recently I had a job where I worked 12 hour shifts, and I often didn't get out of there on time, I did 13.5 hours one day. Yeah, you use the facilities when you can. There is nothing that is going to get you in a public restroom or someone else's. A few germs aren't going to hurt you.

What Religion Gives Us (That Science Can’t)
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 10, 2018:
I regard religion as a way of controlling the masses throughout history. The major Abrahamic religions are horrible for controlling and degrading women. I agree with @KKGator they helped create some art, but they have degraded women, delayed progress, enforced genocide, and enslaved millions. Calms whose fears? How many millions of indigenous people had their lives destroyed? The ugly truth is that religion is a way for the powerful to stay in power.
There isn't really a category for this, but the blame surely lies under this category.

HippieChick58 comments on Jun 9, 2018:
I was concerned I might be sacked, I've been struggling with my job for a long time. Now it is not going to kill me financially to be unemployed. So I made a list of everything I want to do if I end up with some unexpected free time. I keep it in my pocket and pull it out when the stress levels rise. My change of attitude and being able to relax a bit has actually helped me to do my job better. So now I'm thinking I likely won't be let go, and I'm kinda sorta disappointed. OTOH, health insurance so I will stay employed until I have other options for health care.

But please, in that dark night when you have no more strength to go on, please summon up that last ounce and call someone. When raising children is it OK to let them go with a friend to a Bible camp?
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 8, 2018:
I sent three kids to bible camps while they were children. Two have grown up to be Atheists, and the youngest wants to stay on her dad's good side. The other activities at camp might make up for the religion. However, let her know what to expect, and it depends on the denomination. Is this a fundamentalist church or a more liberal denomination? The fundamentalists will try to scare god into them. The more liberal churches will make sure they have a good time and encourage them to believe.

I struggle with sleep issues. My job is stressful and I tend to push the envelope with going to bed. I get involved with something and lose track of time. (this site is way too hard to turn off) So, today I had a great day at work, I'm all caught up. Such a relief. I'm actually (in theory) going to bed soon. I'm going to wrestle down the cats and trim their nails (I do it in bed, I wrap them in the blankets.) And then I'm going to take some stuff to relax and hope that I sleep til the sun is full up tomorrow.
