Am so alone..
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 21, 2018:
I'm better alone than with someone who doesn't care for me.
I have just been diagnosed with diabetes type 2 and have been advised to cut down on carbohydrates.
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 21, 2018:
Sweet potato, cauliflower. You can cook cauliflower, blend it, add butter/salt/pepper and other flavors as deisred and it is delicious and much like mashed potatoes. To replace rice try any whole grain. I like quinoa. Also, most important of all for DM2, cut out as much sugar as you can. Educate yourself to all the many names of sugar and get them out of your house. Ketchup has a teaspoon of sugar per tablespoon. That is nearly 40% sugar! Best thing for you is read and educate yourself. Nuts are a great snack. And good luck!
Dear Journal, Day 1524 without sex. I think I'm losing hearing in my left eye.

I know there have been several messages about blocking.
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 21, 2018:
I think it is up to us as individuals to make that call. If someone disturbs your peace of mind so much that you need to block them, its a personal choice.

HippieChick58 comments on Jun 20, 2018:
I had one kitty for many years, she was blind the last half of her life and I knew she should be an only cat for the rest of her life. She was very bonded to me, my heart cat. She passed in November 2016. In Febr 2017 I got Xena who was about a year old. In January this year I got Zelda who was about 6 months. They don't "like" each other yet, but there is some mutual grooming and plenty of racing up and down stairs, acrobatics, and general amusement. I'm so glad I have two kitties.

HippieChick58 comments on Jun 20, 2018:
I hate passive aggressive BS. I had a friend who did that which is what moved him totally to the friend zone. Then a few years later he needs help so called on old friends. I helped him out and got the passive aggressive BS again. There is no next time.

Cooking chicken...
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 20, 2018:
When I was a kid we had a Siamese cat; very sweet kitty, very unSiamese temperament. Mom worked in a restaurant, got home after midnight. Put a frozen chicken on the counter to thaw. After she got in bed she heard a loud thunk, then slide, slide, thunk, thunk, thunk, slide. Then she got up to check. The cat had pulled the chicken off the counter, across the kitchen floor, down the steps, over the landing, and was headed down to the basement with it. Mom rescued our Sunday dinner, still in the wrappings, put it back on the counter and put a heavy bowl over it. The kitty yowled at her for several minutes for taking away her midnight snack, then gave it up and came up to me in bed. Great memory.

I want sex in the context of a relationship. I'm hoping to have sex again one day, but I'm willing to wait for the whole package.

HippieChick58 comments on Jun 19, 2018:
If my kids all moved with me I'd love to go back to the Seattle/Tacoma/Everett area, we lived there 1994 to 1999. I'd consider Colorado as well, extended family is there and one kid makes frequent trips there anyway. I have lived in Germany as well, I'd consider going back. Or Sweden I've heard great things about.

I rarely use paper towels, napkins, or plastic bags I use glass for food storage. I make my own soap, toothpaste, deodorant, lip balm. I garden. I use Hydroflasks and almost never use plastic water bottles. I use metal straws. I make and take my own lunch, carry and reuse my own silverware, and usually cook from scratch and mostly vegetarian. I recycle paper and plastic at home, and take glass recycling to Target. I donate my unused stuff to a variety of resale or reuse places. I compost, and I have a worm box in my pantry. I make my own extracts and cleaning solvents. There are lemon peels soaking in vinegar in my pantry now. I'm not sure how long they've been there. And I'm gradually replacing all the light bulbs with LEDs.

My last trip to KC I drove by my former home and my tree is now big enough that I think it will block the sun as it was hoped it would. Someone else gets that benefit now, but that's OK. I create things that last for a long time. I made an afghan for my daughter when she was 9, she still uses it. I have it for the moment, it needs to be mended. My reason for not staying in touch is I don't care. I'm in touch with those who matter. 6. I live alone, so no help with the groceries. However, I do call SIL (8 miles away) for really heavy stuff. He's good that way. 7. What commercials? Turned off cable. 8. YES! Cell is always in left front pants pocket. If I'm not in jeans/slacks then it is in my purse and I'm anxious all day. 9. Yes, coffee before heading out the door to work. I'm online while I eat breakfast. 10. Nope, 11. Yup 12. Nope 13. There was a number 9. Coffee, remember? 14. LOL, but no. Depression
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 17, 2018:
Previously I have been on meds, zoloft comes to mind and something else later. The meds had some weird side effects, I started some uncharacteristic behavior. I got off all meds, I use B vitamins, exercise, yoga, healthier eating, and I resolved some of the issues that were bothering me. I still veer into depression with great regularity, but I know I will be OK, that the episode will pass. For me, I noticed a change when I stopped eating processed foods. I don't eat any food that have a commercial, except nuts. Cashews are good for depression. I eat foods as they are found in nature, not boxed, processed, or fake; and usually limit sugars.

As an American it hugely amuses me you call it "the football" and I don't mean that in a condescending way. I love how our common language split so uncommonly. The other part of it is I'm not a sports fan so I almost never voluntarily watch sports. The last time I did watch sports was at my nail salon, seems the Thai and Vietnamese gals that work there are fans of soccer. That was all that was on TV.

HippieChick58 comments on Jun 17, 2018:
First, figure out what you like to do or who you want to be and go for it. I've always had projects and hobbies, I like to be busy. My empty nest coincided with divorce and reentry into the workforce, followed by unemployment. It was a rough time for me, but a time of personal growth. It is what pushed me away from religion to the understanding there is no good god looking out for us. It made me much stronger, and I'm thankful for it. The empty nest will be what you make of it. For me it was exciting to see my kids forge lives for themselves and become the wonderful young women that they are.

Jan 2019. Quilt for 2 year old granddaughter, just learning her colors. Her mama wanted it to be a rainbow quilt.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
