Attention all former bible scholars:
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 27, 2018:
When A&E were in the garden, they were the only people there. When they were banished they had to live among other peoples who worshipped other gods. How else did their sons find wives? A&E apparently had more than 30 children. I hope they founds other women for wives else there was a whole lotta incest going on. And that would explain so much. So I googled A&E and got some odd stuff I've never heard of before. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_of_Adam_and_Eve I gotta tell ya, that favoritism stuff is confusing and contradictory as hell. But in many stories of the buybull god is a capricous idiot who plays favorites. Why do I feel like I need a shower.
Who thinks atheism is a faith?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 27, 2018:
I see Atheism as lack of religious faith. I have faith in science, that the sun will come up in the morning. I have faith that my kids will always be there for me, and I for them. I have faith that if I drop dead my employer will be looking to replace me before my obituary is published. So yes, I have faith, but not in any beings that I cannot see, touch, or hear. Yeah, I'm like Thomas, if I can touch the nailholes I will beleive.
What it something that is oddly satisfying to you?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 27, 2018:
Folding a fitted sheet into a nice, neat square. I don't understand why so many people have difficulties with it. I don't do it often, I'm most likely to wash and put them back on. Plaids that match. Put me near someone wearing a poorly assembled plaid garment and it is like fingernails on a chalk board. Following patterns in fabrics and objects. Which is part of the reason I quilt and sew.

Are Some Men Reluctant to Talk on the Phone?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 26, 2018:
I hate texting, impossible to read emotion or body language, then there is that tiny freaking keyboard and my need for correct grammar. I spent a month texting with a guy that our most in depth conversation was how are you doing today. Then he had an emergency and wanted money. Blocked him so fast. I'm not fond of the phone either, I'm on the phone at work too much. From a dating site since I am only looking for local guys we're going to meet in person fairly quickly or I'm going to lose interest. I find it is the scammers that don't want to or won't meet in person.

So what do you do when is time for a group prayer at work or dinner table?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 25, 2018:
When I have dinner with my youngest there is a grace at the table. But then the youngest lives with her daddy, and it is his house. He gets to make the rules. Last time we had dinner over there the middle child and I made eye contact and rolled our eyes at the same time. She is so my child! I've never encountered it in a work situation and I think that might be illegal, unless it is a faith based organization. A moment of silence I think is acceptable, it is as the host wishes. However if it is work related and there is a prayer I am likely going to be doing some checking behind the scenes because I can think of a whole bunch of laws that may have been violated.
This is Destructo.

HippieChick58 comments on Mar 25, 2018:
I don't really think about it, I was born when I was born. I've made choices to live differently than most Americans, but I don't think less of people for the choices they make. (Well, maybe I do, they're sheeple ;)) Things weren't necessarily simple or better in the old days. People died from minor crap that we can take care of simply now. JFK's baby died of Hylaine Memebrane Diesease which now we call IRDS Infant Respriatory Distress Syndrome. In 1957 95% of babies with HMD died. Today 95% of babies with IRDS survive. Women had fewer rights, Women stayed married becasue they had no choice. I needed my dad's signature when I was 18 to join the Army because I am FEMALE. OMG, that helped to clarify, for all the shit that is happening in the world, I'm so glad I wasn't born in my grandmother's day.

What do you do with the hours between midnight and 2 am when sleep is elusive ?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 24, 2018:
If it is a work day then I drink some herbal tea or some alcohol and hope I can get to sleep. On a weekend I might just get up and start the day. On work nights I try to avoid turning on anything electonic. I might read, or knit, or play with the kitties. Or masturbate. Or meditate. Self hypnosis. I've tried hot baths with epsom salts and lavender. Or I might just say F it all, drink a crap ton of coffee and get ready for work. BTDT, got at least 1 T shirt, likely quite a few more.
Why do we simply group emotions as positive or negative?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 24, 2018:
I don't think emotions are bad or good, they just are. Anger can be a sign something is wrong, it can be dealt with either positively or negatively. The students marching this weekend is a positive response to anger and grief. Shooting up someone or something is a very negative reaction to anger or grief. If you are sad when someone dies that is a good sign, if you are happy that indicates something is not right. People who cannot acknowledge emotion or handle emotion poorly need extra help. Think Sheldon on Big Bang Theory. If we are happy all the time we are not learning resilience because life is not meant to for us to be happy all the time. You need some experience with frustration, grief, anger, and all disappointment, etc to learn how to deal with it. Children don't need to be "protected from" emotions, they need to be taught the appropriate responses.

Needing a root canal on Sunday evening. I've done that twice, first time in 1985, second in 2017. In 1985 I went to an Army hospital ER which was 25 minutes from the base we lived in (USForces Germany), but they couldn't do anything for me except to get a dentist out of bed to open up his clinic at the base I lived on. I got an emergency root canal. In 2017 I had oil of cloves on hand, it works! I was able to fall asleep and call the dentist when they opened to get a root canal.

Then I realized my ex also helped me to fell inadequate in many ways, too stupid to get a degree. But hindsite 20/20. I pushed my girls to get degrees, the oldest two did. The youngest staged a little rebellion and I hope it doesn't bite her in the ass.

HippieChick58 comments on Mar 24, 2018:
So driving around Omaha today there is a guy on a corner with a sign. They cannot step into traffic so I drove extra so I could hand him a bag. He REFUSED it! I don't know what he thought I was trying to give him, I don't think he was fully cognizant. He kinda rambled and there was lots of car noise. But he refused my bag, I even put an extra $5 in it becase it was such a crappy day. He had odd old shoes and odd pant, not jeans. I was hurt, but I realize it may be a symptom of whatever disease he has. To say that social service will take care of these people I say "cracks." There will always be some folks that fall in the cracks. There are some too ill to deal with the system. Have you ever been to a shelter? Sometimes they are scary places, and frequently families are separated. Many people are just a paycheck away from being homeless. I do not, cannot, and will not judge. I will help when I can, but sometimes you just can't help. When the mental hospital were closed it forced thousands of mentally ill onto the streets. More are on the streets every day. The dearth of mental health care in the US is attrocious. I work in short term disability claims. I talk to people frequently who have to wait weeks if not months for appointments with counselors/therapists. They can't work, and I can't pay them unless they are receiving appropriate treatment. There are few things scarier in the US than being poor, because the system is set up to keep your poor. If you throw mental health issues into that mix it is a nightmare. When I lived near McChord AFB I frequently used to see panhandlers near I5. One of the things I notice is patterns and shapes. Soon I realized the sign that was being held today was the same sign as a different guy had yesterday, some of the letters had unique shapes. I was not and still am not sure what to make of that. Was it a panhandling ring? That was 20+ years ago. Sad that we haven't fixed our problems homelessness and poverty in that time.

But it also says he is a storm chaser and works between Lincoln and Omaha. I knew who it was, talked to him for a bit. I reminded him we've met in person twice before and he gave me a small dreidel last time we met. Nope, he is not divorced. I hate liars! Funny thing is, I know his real name because of his storm chaser activities, and because of that I know where he lives. Makes me wanna write to his wife. But hell, this has been going on for years.

Best Dating Site?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 24, 2018:
I've tried most dating sites at one time or another, except Tinder and Bumble. I've even tried some not on the list. What I encounter most often is scammers. This past week I was asked twice for money by people I've never met in person. A few months ago I had been corresponding with one person who wanted me to go buy and Apple laptop and watch and ship them to him. I told him he needed to provide collateral and proof of identity. I was bored, I let it play out too long. I still have some dating sites active, but I don't think anything will ever come of it.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
