My team lead joked on my birthday that it was an anniversary of my 19th birthday. He is trying to avoid any age discrimination. He's 27, so just a baby. I appreciate his tact, but you don't get this much experience at 19. 4 years ago I had a female manager of a different department tell me I looked about 50, so that made me happy. In the long run, I don't care what I look like, that was eliminated when my dad told me I wasn't pretty when I was a child. He had all the tact of a dump truck. To me, pretty is a chance of genetics. I'm smart, sassy, and witty, and those are MY doing, not genetics or surgery. When someone, especially male tells me I'm pretty I don't believe them. If they want to get on my good side engage me in wits, compliment my reasoning, talk about important things.

I eat less meat, but not totally vegetarian. I cook from scratch because I'm cheap. During the summer I make a large "salad" on the weekend for my weekday lunches; usually a mix of veggies, quinoa, and some sort of dressing. Later in summer as my garden tomatoes ripen I will be making vegetable soups and freezing them for my winter lunches. My breakfasts are usually some form of oatmeal, with flaxmeal and chia seeds added. During the summer it is a cold fruity oatmeal with Greek yogurt added. And my dinner many nights is Miso soup with lots of veggies. My snacks are usually nuts. My downfall is chocolate, that is my drug of choice. I never drink soda, I cannot drink any carbonated drinks. Beer is out also, and many wines. I never smoked (maybe 5 cigarettes in my life, and those over 40 years ago.) I have outlived my mother by nearly 20 years, she had ovarian cancer at age 45.

I will not invest in Crypto in any way, shape, or form. Like you, I don't understand it, and I don't have funds I'm willing to take a risk with. I have done some research on crypto, it just doesn't make sense. I work for a financial institution, the articles I've read through work don't make it sound like a safe or prudent investiment, though I have spoken with some members (I work for a Credit Union) who are investing in crypto. They were excited, but they didn't tell me anything that made me eager to take the risk.

My fish pond is some of the only water around right now.

Yesterday might have been the hottest day of the summer 2022, and my car's AC decided not to work. Today it worked a tad better, for a while. But now I have an appointment for the car to go to the shop. A few years ago in July my house AC died. I had to move to a motel for a few days til it could be replaced. I had thought I could handle the heat, I grew up in a house without AC here in Nebraska. Nope, about 10:30pm I realized I might have some serious health problems if I didn't get out of there. I had to leave my poor blind kitty behind. I called my office to say I was not going to be in the next day. And I checked on the kitty daily, put ice water down for her. That was not a good week. I am sorry for your trials, trouble does seem to come in bunches. But rest assured, if there is a god he hates everyone equally, that I am convinced of. He gives kids cancer. I don't do fried green tomatoes. To me they aren't good. I have never tried to deep fat fry a tomato. However, I roast tomatoes and make a wide variety of soups for the winter months. I dont' have enough of my tomatoes that are ripe yet, but I'm thinking I will need to start next week. I freeze my soups in 2 cup cannning jars, I date and label them when I put them in the freezer. Then I choose my soup of the day in the morning and put it in the fridge to thaw til lunch time. One of the perks of working from home.When I worked in the office I'd heat the soup and put it in a thermos. It is frugal and delicious.

Since my cell phone coverage now comes from T-Mobile, and I have to keep up with modern trends to keep my job, I know that mobile usually refers to a smart phone/cell phone/tablet. However, I talk to lots of senior folks, and when I need to ask about their phone I'd never call it a "mobile". You're not alone. I am looking forward to the day I can stop keeping up with the latest. I have had to learn about Zelle, and I hate it. Zelle is a money transfer app, like Venmo or CashApp. I prefer cash, check, or charge.
