@silverotter11 I totally understand. I was a poor fit, which is part of the reason I was more than happy to bail when the chance came up. Ex was actually a poor fit as well, but he had skills they needed. However, he was not given the opportunity to extend beyond his 20 years. He got his retirement, and I got my slice of it in the divorce.

Previous experience with questionnaires, it is usually simple stuff like favorite colors, foods, music. Stuff like pets, family dynamics, travel experiences. The stuff that you talk about as you're getting to know one another. I'm not interested in putting it down in writing.

@Lauren I will say it is a hard life, and very hard on the kids. My oldest was very shy and starting with a new group of kids every time she had to change school was hard for her, but it made her a very competitive, driven student. But it also made my kids very savvy, very independent thinkers, and they are adventurous eaters! They love all sorts of ethnic foods. It made me an outspoken liberal and a great survivor. There are some really dark coping skills in there, but I'm proud of who I've become.
What do you think of backward ball caps on older men?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 22, 2020:
I think men of any age that wear that baseball cap backwards look ignorant, immature, and insecure. I like to ask them what the last book they read was, most haven't read a book since high school. For me that is a pass.
HippieChick58 replies on Feb 23, 2020:
@Wildflower I didn't say he hadn't read a book. I said it is something I ask, and I ask it of about everyone. I did date a guy that would wear his hat backwards. I did ask him that question and that was his answer, and he thought it was just fine. As I read many books every year we had a huge difference in priorities. I have seen a picture of a male watching a baseball game with his hat backwards, using a hand to shade his eyes so he can see the game. Like the solution is right there! And you can think me shallow and judgmental all you want, and I will still sleep just fine tonight. We all make judgments about people all the time, that kept our ancestors alive.

I've seen bankruptcies due to medical bills, But my hospital uses a non reporting collection agency, Your medical collections will not affect your credit score for the hospital I work for. There is no reason to go to jail for medical or any other debt, cuz if you're in jail you aren't earning the money to discharge your debt. That is just downright insane. And if I get an expensive disease I'm going to simply die because I'm not going to spend money I don't have for a cure. No chemo, no expensive drug therapy. Just let me fade into the twilight.

John Wesley was the son of an English cleric with a large family, born in 1703, and himself became a cleric, theologian and evangelist who was a leader of a revival movement within the Church of England known as Methodism. The societies he founded became the dominant form of the independent Methodist movement that continues to this day, and he brought the foundation of the United Methodist Church to the US. He was also run out of the US, seems he got involved with a young lady he should not have been involved with. His brother Charles Wesley is the composer of many hymns still sung in the churches today. I was very active with the United Methodist church for many years and I've got an incredible ability to remember trivia such as this. Important stuff not so much.

I've got road construction happening all around my neighborhood that has been going on for about 3 years. Its been annoying as hell, but also fascinating to watch the daily changes and amount of work that goes into it. New sewer lines have gone in, and power lines have been buried. The roads have been widened, some folks have lost about a quarter of their back yard. I bitch like hell because it has changed and lengthened my commute, but I'm actually very happy with it because a) employment of the workers increasing the local tax base and b) the finished product will shorten and improve my commute.

HippieChick58 replies on Jan 11, 2020:
@Haemish1 I will not have a dog because that would require a fenced yard and more time in upkeep than I want to give at this time. I feed kitty girls daily, clean the litter boxes a few times a week and they're good. That is less than 30 minutes a day. And if I can't get home the cats don't need to be let out. I used to work 12 hour shifts that would frequently run over. I could be gone 15 hours a day. Now I might leave work after 8 hours but I might go to see the kids and not get home til bedtime. That is too long for a dog to be alone. And destruction... I had a golden when my kids were growing up. We crated him when we were out of the house. In any moment of inattention he could find more stuff to destroy. Puppy adolescence nearly killed both of us. After he got over that he was amazing, but I was also home most of the day and our yard was fenced.

The insurance company said the hospital was negligent, well that got our attention and within hours I the office produced document proof that we did everything the company asked us to do. So this major insurance company is fucking over a family who has a kid with cancer. The mom has to sue, and we have provided her with the information, but she is so overwhelmed she cannot think straight. And this is one of the BIG insurance companies that is usually pretty good. This poor mom must have felt like a ping pong ball, calling the hospital and then calling insurance then repeat, and in the meantime dealing with a sick kid. Yes, we NEED universal health care. Insurance companies should never be for profit. They should NEVER make a profit off of sick children.

I haven't seen either one try to ride it, but I do believe it is deliberate that they try to stop it. I have mine scheduled to run about 1.5 hours before I leave work, so in theory it would be done before or shortly after I get home. Most days it doesn't happen that way.
