EV Charging Answer: Quantum Technology Will Cut Time it Takes to Charge Electric Cars to Just 9 ...
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 2, 2022:
Wow! I have friends with EVs, and taking a trip involves planning on charging stations and time constraints. That would be cool to be able to charge faster than filling up a gas tank. My car is over 15 years old, I know I will have to replace it in a few years, likely sooner than I'd like to. I'd like to go electric, but the charging constraints give me pause. This news gives me hope that my next car may be electric.
I need to complain: my furnace is broken, for the third time this winter.
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 2, 2022:
My HVAC was replaced a few years ago, when the house was about 12 or 14 years old. So, I'd say 17 is a good run. Also they're getting more efficient and eco friendly all the time. I do have a fire place, but in all my years in this place I've never turned it on. It is in the basement family room. I think that is very inefficient to have a heat source in an open basement. Most of that heat is going to go upstairs. Your family cares about you so let them fuss. It is their way of caring, and then just do your own thing. You might tell them it isn't open for discussion, you're a big girl and will take care of it on your schedule.

HippieChick58 comments on Mar 27, 2022:
I grew up in a small town 150 miles west of where I live now. When I was in HS my mom died and my dad remarried. When I was a senior in HS dad told me I wouldn't be going to college, he was not going to sign the permission paperwork (this was 1976) because he wasn't going to be responsible for the cost. He didn't give me many options for a future. I walked downtown one afternoon, dropped in on the Navy recruiter's office. They had no openings for a women's basic for about a year, he walked me over to the Army recruiter's office and I took paperwork home to my dad that evening. Dad had no good reason not to sign, so he did. The following December I left that small town and my dad's roof and never looked back. And that, my dears, has made all the difference.

I don't often drive after dark, but I have dinner with my kids every other week, and I'm not going to skip that. In winter it does mean I drive home in the dark. I have started to keep blue blocker clip ons in my car, and that helps a great deal. My company is having a "town hall" meeting next week at a hotel downtown. There will be dinner, and our time is paid. I am joining via the web and skipping the dinner. I'd love to go for the free dinner, however, I hate driving downtown at night, and it's a Tuesday night, I don't want to stay out that late and then get up early the next day to work. I still get paid for the time online to watch it.

Cats don't see well when it is really bright to totally dark. So they're programmed to sleep when sun is high and when there is no sun. The term for that is are crepuscular, which means that they are most active at dawn and dusk. Sometimes house cats will adjust away from that. I notice my cats sleep near me while I WFH, they are more active when I'm getting ready to go to work and after I'm home. I have no idea what they do at night, sometimes they do sleep with me.

Coincidental that you posted this today. Today would have been my mother's 95th birthday, however she died 50 years ago. Her name was Minnie Mae. Two granddaughters carry her middle name, and my middle daughter was born on her birthday. Her most recently born great granddaughter also carries her middle name. (As luck would have it it is also the middle name of one of her dad's grandmothers.) When I came to realize that xianity was a lie and there is no life in heaven after death I went through a period of mourning that I'd never see my mother again, or see the baby that I lost earlier. I believe as long as someone remembers us we never completely die. And yes, this is why I quilt and craft. There will be reminder to my kids, and grands, and hopefully great grands that I lived and I loved them.

Thursday evening while the grands were here one of the cats was shut in there, which was OK. She wasn't going to come out while grands and their parents were here anyway. I've always kept the doors open while I'm sleeping.
