I haven't noticed it in the central US, but now I will have to keep an eye out for it.
It’s also sad and outright pathetic.

I have used and seen the word analogous for years, and basically understood what it meant. I don't think I've ever looked up the meaning. Way cool.

No internet yesterday. Felt like a hopeless Luddite.
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 2, 2022:
Two of three kids and their partners are IT people, and their dad was also. The mantra is: When all else fails REBOOT. In my current job I work from home. There are days that the connections are strong and we are rolling well, and other days the internet drops out, and other days that we just don't know what gremlin has hit the system. We are advised before calling tech support to 1: clear cache and cookies, 2: switch browsers, and if all else fails then 3: reboot. Then you can call tech support. Today was a double reboot day, and still not everything was working right. I keep a Google speaker in the living room with a radio station playing. If I can still hear that, it isn't my internet that is causing problems. We can no longer switch browsers, one of our systems works only on Edge. We had one for a while that only worked on IE. It is cold in Omaha today and my internet has been dropping off and on all evening. It was strong until about 5. And yes, this morning I rebooted the modem and router, just in case. I am thinking I am going to move the modem and router to a more central location in the house in the near future. Sometimes on the other side of the house the reception is less steady. I am waiting for a day off with not much else to do to move it because it is going to take some gymnastics to get it where I want it to go, and I don't want any pressure of time to get it up and running. I might have to walk away for a few.

Do you have someone you are close to to use as a sounding board? Sometimes it helps to put your thoughts into spoken words with a safe person. Sometimes the right answer today won't be the right answer tomorrow. And then there is the risk factor, considering Florida and Covid, is this worth risking your life for? There are no easy answers, but you need to do what is best for you. Calling Employee support is a great idea.

How about making plans for post Covid? I've been feeling good lately, it is highly unusual for me. And then my kids decided to make plans for summer of 2023. They want a family trip to somewhere in the great lakes area; all of them, all the kidlets, me................. and their dad. I suppose it wouldn't be fair to leave him out. (sigh) So I'm kinda excited and kinda not, but mostly up. I've finally got a job that pays well and I feel appreciated and I'm doing well at. I keep doing these self checks, I'm not used to feeling like this. And yes it is cold, and winter, and if I get out during the week it is to the mailbox and run back inside. I've started a baby quilt for a baby girl before knowing the gender of the child (new grand in the oven, we're hoping it stays put this time). I was gifted the fabric an it inspired me. If it's a boy I will make another quilt and some lucky little lady will get this one (Raggedy Ann/4th of July inspiration). The thing to keep in mind is you have a routine, and a routine can be a rut. The only difference between a rut and a grave is the dimensions. So maybe do something to shake up your routine to challenge your mind and shake things up a bit.

HippieChick58 comments on Jan 20, 2022:
I just got my second shingles shot yesterday, and I am home sick today. First my shoulder that got the shot hurt like hell. It seems to be better now. Then I couldn't sleep last night, I had body aches and fever. I'm feeling somewhat better now, but I did take the day off work. I got a nap today, and shut the kitties out of the bedroom. They were greatly offended. But I slept for a couple of hours. The fever seems to be gone. And yes, years ago I did deliberately expose my kids to Chicken Pox. On Thanksgiving we had dinner with another family that the kids had chicken pox. The middle child got the pox two weeks later. On Xmas eve day the grandparents were visiting, and we took the kids to the Seattle Children's Museum. It was packed. At dinner afterwards, at Ivar's, the oldest tells me her tummy itched. I checked and she had broken out with the pox. How many kids do you figure we exposed? The next day the baby (almost 2 years old) broke out with the pox, and she was really sick. She also got RSV and a couple other viruses in the next few weeks. We were waiting for her to get better so she could have surgery for ear tubes. She got them in April. In retrospect that was not the best plan for Thanksgiving dinner.

Circumstellar adjective surrounding a star.
HippieChick58 comments on Jan 16, 2022:
Circum is a prefix with the meaning “round about, around,” found in Latin loanwords, especially derivatives of verbs that had the general senses “to encompass or surround” (circumference; circumjacent; circumstance) or “to go around” by the means or in the manner specified by the verb (circumnavigate; circumscribe); on this basis forming adjectives in English with the meaning “surrounding” that named by the stem (circumocular; circumpolar). And there is that very favorite word of Christian men... circumcision.

So far I'm doing OK with it, I take Motrin daily, but that is for more than just the thumb. When I worked Short Term disability claims I had a dental hygenist who filed a claim, she had just had a bilateral thumb joint replacement. Her employer also invested in new equipment for her, ones with bigger handles. I don't remember how long she was out of work. I am hoping I wont need to have any replacements, but time will tell.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
