LINKFlorida boy, 6, fatally shoots himself while playing with unsecured gun
“We need to really pray, seek God and really watch our kids, be mindful of our children,” said an area resident who did not want to be identified. I wouldn't want to be identified either if I made such a brainless statement as that. We really need to regulate guns. The parents will have to live with this for the rest of their lives, but is that really enough? They committed a crime by not securing their guns. They essentially murdered their son by their neglect. IMHO there is not ...

My part of the US has had some horrible flooding. I'm lucky not to be affected by it, but many folks in my area are. One of the pictures is a farm near Missouri Valley, IA. LINKIn scathing ruling, judge rips insurer for putting 'bottom line' over patients' health - CNN
This!! This is so important to me, I work in health care and have been a consumer of course for years. I've dealt with socialized medicine (military coverage) and private insurers. I have been saying for years that insurance companies are out to protect their bottom line well above your health. I am thankful that I now work for a Not For Profit hospital rather than an insurance company.

Humans are motivated reasoners. When we see a news article that confirms something we think to be true or we want to be true, we quickly "like" it and then share it vehemently on Facebook. Take this news story, for instance, which declares that "Cheese protects you from all causes of death, says science." Most cheese lovers probably didn't look too deeply into the scientific literature before they shared it among their friends.

LINKBernie Sanders’s biggest strength for 2020 is his ability to thrive on chaos - The Washington Post
Bernie Sanders has spent the past two years losing steam. He ended the 2016 primary with 43 percent of the national vote, but now he’s polling below 20 percent nationally. His preferred candidates generally performed poorly in down-ballot Democratic primaries in 2018. And, unlike Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney and other past second-place finishers, he hasn’t been able to scare off politicians like Elizabeth Warren who might try to compete for his voters.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
