I love rain, but not coming down so fast and hard that I cannot see 5 feet in front of my car. That happened on Saturday. We've had almost 3 inches in the past week, two of that came in a 24 hour period from Friday night to Saturday, along with hurricane force winds. Trees and fences are down, electricity was out for hours. mine for about 8 hours, friends were out over 24 hours. There was no peace of mind or snuggling with books during this last rain. We'll be cleaning up for weeks yet.

1.75 inches of rain today in Omaha. I had basil in the raised bed gardens the last few years, and last year the bunnies decimated the basil. This year I planted the basil on the deck in pots, and I have a bumper crop. I think I over planted. Have made pesto 3 times so far, and might well be making more pesto soon. Of find another use for alllll that basil.

I don't have good words this morning. (Lack of sleep, I think we had a tornado last night, no damage aside from tree limbs all over, and no power for 8 hours.) But for that delusional being, I'd just let him know that if he ever awakens from his delusion and comes to the light of science and reason you'd be willing to talk with him, but until then he's dangerously misguided and you don't need that in your life right now.

I planted basil in pots on my deck instead of in the raised bed in the yard. Last year the bunnies decimated it. This year I've harvested basil 4 times, made pesto 3 times. The bunnies were voracious eaters, and I definitely overplanted this year to compensate and have more basil than I need. The tomatoes are doing well in the raised bed. I picked a few (very few) ripe cherry tomatoes to take to my granddaughter, she loves the cherry tomatoes. When she comes over she can pick her own. Next week I hope to have enough that are ripe that I don't have to buy any for my salads. My lawn sprinkers are not turned on yet due to a crack in one of the doohickeys. I don't remember what it is called but it is costing me a pretty penny. I have a short hose and small sprinker that I use for the garden area. The rest of the yard is starting to look scorched.

Rules don't apply to cats.

I grew up with an Aunt from Japan. My Uncle Ken was in the Navy, during the Korean war he was stationed in Japan and brought home a bride. I thought it was normal to have an aunt from another country. For that matter, my grandmother was born in Germany. We're all immigrants unless we're Native Americans. My anxiety peaks when I'm trying to sleep. My heart and mind both race. Yesterday I was exhausted and went to bed early. I actually slept! I slept solidly for almost 9 hours! It was the best non drugged sleep I have gotten in weeks. I use a variety of things to help me sleep, including booze and OTC meds. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

When I lived in Bothell, Tacoma, and Snohomish none of those houses had AC. Granted this was 20ish years ago. We built the house in Snohomish, it was finished in 1995, I think. We really didn't need AC except for a few days. Then we moved to Kansas.... oh yeah we had AC. I think about all the neighbors who didn't have AC and I really feel for them. I grew up in the Nebraska plains without AC. I know how much it sucks!

When I lived in Washington State I got a golden puppy. The day after we brought him home the rainy season started. We have pictures of me standing under an umbrella in the rain and the dog is sitting on my feet. He doesnt' want to get wet while he does his duty. He was a smart little guy.
