Harlequin adjective fancifully varied in colour, decoration, etc.
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 19, 2022:
There was (possibly still is, I haven't looked) a seller of romance novels by the name of Harlequin. The covers were colorful, and the stories were cheesy. Their logo is a diamond, apparently they're still out there. https://www.harlequin.com/shop/index.html

How about one of those arm bands that I used to see used in the gym? (I am sure they are still used in the gym, I just dropped my membership at the beginning of the pandemic.) That way it is not pulling down on your pocket, it is a pouch that straps to your upper arm. I encourage you NOT to walk off without your phone. You are an attractive woman, a woman, and a woman of a certain age. You just never know when you will need to reach out to someone for your own safety. My kids get very aggravated if I don't answer in a reasonable amount of time. If I don't show up for work when I'm scheduled and haven't called out sick one of my daughters is my emergency contact and they will call her. If they call her and I haven't she will be all over me. I let that daughter know if I am going out with someone and when I expect to be home, not that that has happened in a while. You just never know when you'll need to reach someone.

I work in customer service for a credit union. On Friday I think I was told Happy Easter at the end of about 20% of my calls. To which I responded something about having a great weekend. The first time I heard Happy Easter I responded with "oh yeah, that is coming up." There are some that really make a point of pushing their own agenda, and I just say "bye" and hang up. I don't have time for it, and I'm not going to make an issue of it. I just want to make the calls as short as possible.

HippieChick58 comments on Apr 7, 2022:
After 6 years in the Army, I did not ask my kids if they'd like to learn something that is extra work. I said, "C'mere kid, let me show you the right way to do it." I know they know how, and I don't care if they do it or not. I was not a stickler for how they kept their stuff, unless it got too far out of control and affected the rest of the family. HippieChick58 comments on Apr 4, 2022:
I feel your pain! I have ordered a new phone, it is on back order, and when it comes in I will have to do the transfer by myself. I've always had the store do it before. I supposed I could go into the local store, but covid... and time... And yes, my job keeps updating our software, and we're migrating from old software to new and improved. And then I was nominated by my boss for training on a new project. His opinion of my abilities is way too high! I want others to be first to get the bugs out, then they can teach me, but alas... and it doesn't look that bad... so I downloaded the new app onto my phone and when it goes live I'll be as ready as I can be.

EV Charging Answer: Quantum Technology Will Cut Time it Takes to Charge Electric Cars to Just 9 ...
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 2, 2022:
Wow! I have friends with EVs, and taking a trip involves planning on charging stations and time constraints. That would be cool to be able to charge faster than filling up a gas tank. My car is over 15 years old, I know I will have to replace it in a few years, likely sooner than I'd like to. I'd like to go electric, but the charging constraints give me pause. This news gives me hope that my next car may be electric.
I need to complain: my furnace is broken, for the third time this winter.
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 2, 2022:
My HVAC was replaced a few years ago, when the house was about 12 or 14 years old. So, I'd say 17 is a good run. Also they're getting more efficient and eco friendly all the time. I do have a fire place, but in all my years in this place I've never turned it on. It is in the basement family room. I think that is very inefficient to have a heat source in an open basement. Most of that heat is going to go upstairs. Your family cares about you so let them fuss. It is their way of caring, and then just do your own thing. You might tell them it isn't open for discussion, you're a big girl and will take care of it on your schedule.
