There may be an announcement this week from my youngest regarding her almost 5 year old not being an only child for much longer... She is going to be at that Tday gathering so I hope all the non immediate family guests are vaccinated. I'd rather see my kid than them.

I have had cats most of my life, and a dog for about 15 years. I never paid for pet health insurance. I do believe my employer offers it, I know past employers have. My thinking is 1. If the pet is so sick that they need expensive health care, it is worth putting them through the discomfort? What will it do for their quality of life? And 2. What EXACTLY does that policy offer? Insurance is about sharing risk, but also about eliminating risk. The insurance company is out to make a profit from you. That is their bottom line. I don't feel like making another damn insurance company any richer.

Having started two jobs during the pandemic, there are advantages to being IN the office, especially in the beginning. You learn lots from listening to your peers. You get more "face time" with management, and more interaction with your peers. OTOH, I don't miss the drive. We were supposed to return to the office after Jan 1, however that seems to be delayed, and now there is a "hotel" desk plan in place. I'm very OK with that, I don't plan to go in unless I absolutely have to.

My daughter Lis is grandma to these two sweethearts. Yes, that makes me the great-grandma.

I am not particularly outgoing, I am quite fine with the social distancing prescribed by COVID and not going to an office or out in crowds. I used to change my radio station every year because they would start playing xmas music way too early in the year for me, and then ONLY xmas music for way too long. I keep a radio on all day, I use my Google home speaker, and if it stops playing I know my Internet may have dropped, which affects doing my job. So last year I didn't change back to the other station, though I doubt they noticed. I don't acknowledge Xmas until December 1 and I do very minimal "decorating" for the holiday. I also do most of my shopping online, and only go to the grocery stores when I have to. I will admit I just finished my xmas gift shopping, or at least I think I did. I did a modified Heimlich Maneuver on my oldest daughter when she was small. She was in a high chair and I could not pull her out quickly, so I used the back of the chair and stood behind her. I have a cat that is a finicky eater, and she will just not eat when she doesn't like the food. My vet tells me that is a bad thing to not give her food she's willing to eat. Thankfully I've found a reasonably priced food she will accept. The other cat eats anything I put down for her, she even checks out the mixed nuts I keep on my desk while I'm working. Those are not so much for eating, but for scattering all over the desk and the floor.
