Check online, you can get fermenting containers that will burp themselves. I have made some, but never got around to eating it. I may try again one day. I grew up on canned sauerkraut.

I work customer service in a financial institution. On Friday as caller was wrapping up he mentioned he was going to go buy some lumber, and I mentioned the price had really risen during the pandemic. He treated me to a lecture that the pandemic wasn't real.... And I rolled my eyes (thank goodness I'm not on camera) and wished him a good day. Oy, for being a national company I think only about 10% of my callers give me clues as to how ignorant they are. 10% or more give me clues as to how liberal they are. The rest just go by in a blur.

I work for a credit union, and I am trained on credit cards. EVERY day, at least once, if not 5 times, I am getting a call from a member who has been scammed. If you haven't called the card issuer, please do. They have protocols for investigating scams and disputes. Some of the calls just break my heart, they're hurting people who don't have much in the way of resources. Almost makes me want to go back to cash and checks.

Some kitties are just more people bonded. If I had to guess she was taken from her mother early, or mother was not available. I had a cat that was very people bonded. She was part of an abandoned litter, bottle fed by a family with kids, dogs, cats, and other assorted critters. She loved full body contact with humans, she used to sleep under the covers with me. I loved it, my ex hated it.

I put peanut butter on a slice of bread, doused it in hydrogen peroxide, and he scarfed it down. Then I let him out in the yard, the ex was cooking something on the grill. He stood nearby for a moment and drooled at the grill. Then he ran into the grass, barfed his toenails up, and avoided the grill forever after that. I have tomatoes on my counter right now. They're ripe enough, I just haven't decided what to do with them. There are quite a few more out in the garden that are ready to be picked. I will be doing something with them during the weekend. I do use the paper bag trick frequently to ripen fruits. Also poke some ventilation holes in a paper bag and you can fill it with fresh herbs to dry. It keeps the dust off them. I have several bags of herbs drying in the kitchen.

The smoke has been affecting us here in Nebraska. I have not noticed any ill effects, just lots of haze. But then, I also don't go out terribly much, just toooo dang hot. I completed a jigsaw puzzle this summer while I was unemployed. I had a surface to put it on that my cats would not disturb it (the work computer was gone). I had the puzzle for several years, and just couldn't find a place to work on it that the cats couldn't access. When I started to WFH I got a new desk. Now that I'm working again, the desk has a computer set up on it again, no more puzzles.

I use a slightly more modern version of this. When I make quilts I like to starch my fabrics before cutting and sewing. While they are wet from the starch I hang them on the rack which is in the bathtub, so they can drip dry with no mess. I also hand wash a few more delicate things and I dry them on the rack. They're very handy to have, especially when your HOA forbids outside clotheslines.

I started a new job about 8 weeks ago, new field for me. Learning lots, and so far enjoying most of the job. It's still customer service, so still dealing with entitled and other wacky people. Real life is keeping me busy enough, lots of projects done and lots more to do. It's summer so the garden is starting to produce. Keeping busy helps to keep the feelings of loneliness at bay.

I am seeing rising numbers in various news sources. I still take precautions, I mask at some stores, and generally avoid going out very much. I have never been fond of crowded places so those are easy for me to avoid. I just can't wrap my head around why anyone would not want to vaccinate. Since the new variant is mostly affecting those that are not vaccinated I have trouble coming up with much sympathy for them. Hopefully this will cull the herd of those morons. I've known most of my life that I do not march in step with many of my fellow citizens, the pandemic has revealed there are far more out there that I don't see eye to eye with than I realized.
