@Sheannutt It was. My oldest wants to get a golden for her family. They just had a baby, I think the golden will wait a while. I'd like another dog one day, but a smaller dog. Chief was great, but I would not be able to lift him now, not that I did much of that 10 years ago.

Mitch07102 comments on Jul 18, 2018:
Do a little work and help us out. Why?
HippieChick58 replies on Jul 18, 2018:
I googled a snyopsis. I read the book a few years ago, it was excellent but not a light weight read. Harari's work situates its account of human history within a framework provided by the natural sciences, particularly evolutionary biology: he sees biology as setting the limits of possibility for human activity, and sees culture as shaping what happens within those bounds. The academic discipline of History is the account of cultural change. Harari surveys the history of humankind from the evolution of archaic human species in the Stone Age up to the twenty-first century, focusing on our own species of human, Homo sapiens. He divides the history of Sapiens into four major parts:[5] The Cognitive Revolution (c. 70,000 BC, when Sapiens evolved imagination). The Agricultural Revolution (c. 10,000 BC, the development of farming). The unification of humankind (the gradual consolidation of human political organisations towards one global empire). The Scientific Revolution (c. 1500 AD, the emergence of objective science). Harari's main argument is that Sapiens came to dominate the world because it is the only animal that can cooperate flexibly in large numbers. He argues that prehistoric Sapiens were a key cause of the extinction of other human species such as the Neanderthals, along with numerous other megafauna. He further argues that the ability of Sapiens to cooperate in large numbers arises from its unique capacity to believe in things existing purely in the imagination, such as gods, nations, money and human rights. Harari claims that all large-scale human cooperation systems – including religions, political structures, trade networks and legal institutions – owe their emergence to Sapiens' distinctive cognitive capacity for fiction.[6] Accordingly, Harari reads money as a system of mutual trust and sees political and economic systems as more or less identical with religions.

Do you consider Barack Obama a Super Hero?
evergreen comments on Jul 12, 2018:
No, not a superhero. But one fine man, who handled his difficult position with class and grace. How ever did we go from that to ...to...this endless nightmare !?

Just a curiosity, how many of you would send a letter in the mail?
HippieChick58 comments on Jul 12, 2018:
I occasionally have to physically put stuff in an envelope and address it at work, but not often. I can't think of the last time I had wrote a letter or mailed something from home.
HippieChick58 replies on Jul 12, 2018:
@Jonado I got tired of taking junk mail out of my mailbox every day, so now I only check the box about once a week, or when I carry the trashcans to the curb. Today I checked because I was expecting a package. Sometimes I still get important letter mail, but most stuff is electronic.

HippieChick58 comments on Jul 11, 2018:
I brew up a big pot of green and herbal teas every morning, and then ice it and take it to work. I have a 40 ounce Hydroflask, there will still be ice in it tomorrow.
