Turkeys are murdered in the name of tradition, which is something the Brits excel at. Our Christmas "dinner" can be whatever we want it to be, Thanksgiving in the US there is usually a choice of Ham or Turkey. I had my Thanksgiving dinner last Saturday with some of the family, today I have been home alone. Tomorrow one of the kids is delivering a Thanksgiving meal to me. Friday is the day of the post Thanksgiving abomination called Black Friday which I refuse to participate in. Our Christmas day festivities usually begins with breakfast of Sausage gravy on biscuits, that is our tradition. 3 years ago our Christmas festivities had to be expanded to include a birthday for my first grandchild, she will be 4 on Christmas day, and every child deserves a birthday celebration.

Don't bother me, I'm recharging. 😂

I am alone today too. We had a family Thanksgiving last Saturday, two of the girls were there, but it was a small gathering. Today I am sewing, and doing laundry. I have a quilt to finish. I'm also fasting. I don't know if I will fast all day or not, but I decided as this is an unusual Thanksgiving I will really bend the norms. One of the kids is going to bring by a feast tomorrow, so I will eat a more traditional meal tomorrow. Tomorrow I also have to complete some mandatory overtime. This is totally not the normal, but kinda not surprising given the rest of 2020.

Thanksgiving alone, but not lonely.

We had a partial family Thanksgiving on Saturday. Tomorrow I will be alone, and I have plenty of things to do. On Friday one of the kids will be bringing a meal by, and I will be putting in some overtime at work. And I still have plenty of things to do to keep busy :) I have a quilt to finish and xmas and birthday gifts to make.

I have to trim my own toenails. 🙄 😺😺

I trim my cats claws while in bed. To trim the front claws the back legs are under a blanket so they can't squirm as much. For the back claws I just have them in a death grip. Which reminds me, I need to do it again this weekend. Fun.

My bed has a quilt, and a blanket, and more quilts, and some afghans on it, And usually a cat or two somewhere. I even keep a fan on most of the winter. I keep the bedroom cool, but not cold. I have always loved the weight of blankets, I sleep better under the weight of the blankets. During the day I wear jackets or sweaters as needed. While I am WFG I wear yoga pants and Tshirts, one long sleeve with a short sleeve underneath. Then I add a lap quilt to my lap and usually have a fleece jacket on.

There is a time and place for everything, that wasn't the best time. Choose your battles. Lets get past the holidays and transition of power, and then you can push your agenda.

I eat far less beef than the average Nebraskan. I lean hard towards vegetarian. My house is pretty small as it is. It could be smaller, for me there is lots of wasted space, but I'm not willing to move again unless there is a really good reason. I haven't flown in several years, and have no plans to go anywhere for a while. As for fewer children... yeah, I don't plan to ever have more, but the ones I gave birth to are reproducing and that is out of my control. I'd like to have solar panels on my roof, but right now that is not an option. I avoid plastics whenever possible, but lots of places are not allowing you to bring in your own bags right now, so that option has dwindled. I grow at least some of my own food, and I'm careful about the temperature I keep my house. I recycle what I can and reuse what I can. I have an on demand water heater, which I love. My car is 13 years old, it will have to be replaced sooner or later. WFH has been great to reduce automobile use, I'm loving that. I don't buy much clothing, again WFH I can get by with yoga pants and T shirts. Why did I resist WFH? Now fabric... that I buy; all cotton though, which is better for the planet than polyesters are.

I am currently 9.5. I don't expect to see 10 for a couple of years at least. I am here because of the community, it keeps me sane. I'm 9.5 because I am opinionated and verbose, and I've been here almost 2 years. One of the first people to reach level 9 got burned out and left the community. CutieBeauty has shot up like a rocket, but I've seen less of her recently. I am sure two babies are keeping her busy. I have not noticed that my points have ever dropped, but I don't track it that closely. The points are nice, but I'd be here without them. And you're correct, no one has earned level 10 yet. If your goal is points, post more. I value the conversations and camaraderie.

I used to eat chocolate when I was stressed, or happy, or lonely, or whatever. It was my drug of choice. In the past few years I have gone mostly vegetarian, and this year I have had to give up chocolate, sugar, and caffeine because it causes anxiety. I can see changes in my resting heart rate and stress levels on my fitness watch when I consume those items. I usually sit in front of the computer when I eat, but this week I have chosen to read while I eat lunch. I keep only healthy and real foods in the house. I need to lose some weight before I retire. I discovered recently that Medicare Supplements can cost more if you are overweight, if they don't deny you the coverage. Plus my knees are bothering me. And my back. I turn 63 in January, so I've got two years to get to 'normal' weight. I don't know if I've ever been 'normal' weight since I was 4.

I think we need to go into lockdown. Get the breeders out of the schools, yes all the kidlets. I WFH now and love it. My daughter's new job has her in the office and she has now had 3 covid tests because of coworkers coming down with the virus. Lets all go WFH when we can, back to essential employees in the offices as it was. More jobs need to make changes to keep workers safe. We need a short term UBI (uniform basic income) for all so we can stay home to stay safe. Our hospitals are FULL. If we wait too long we will pass the point of no return, if we haven't already.

Whether or not I get the Covid vaccine will depend on what I hear from the local hospitals. UNMC (University of Nebraska Med Center) is on the forefront of epidemiology and research. Some of the first covid patients from the cruise ships were brought to Nebraska to be quarantined and treated. If UNMC says get the vaccine I will still wait as long as possible to see how others react to it.

I need to walk up to the other side of my block. My side of the block is smaller, cheaper homes. I'm on the edge of the neighborhood, the other side of the block is another neighborhood, the homes are all bigger and a good $100,000 to $150,000 more expensive. My street had Biden signs and Love is Love is Love, the other side of the block had Trump and Blue Lives Matter signs. With working and the weather changing I have not walked very much, maybe I will take a drive. I'd love to have a way to rub it in, but I think time will take care of that.
