We didn't often take vacations. Dad was a brickmason and summer was the busy time. With 6 kids they needed all the income they could get. Winters were too cold for him to work steadily. We took one vacation when I was young, we went to Colorado to visit extended family. He was working at an ordinance plant then due to the Vietnam war and had paid vacations. After the war we had one other vacation, we went to Colorado again when mom was terminal with cancer in 1972.

The oldest granddaughter, now 4 loves them and she has been getting them since she was 2. Grandson now 3, at age 2 would bite into them and spit them out down the front of his shirt. I am eager to see if his opinion of them changes this year. Newest granddaughter has a while before she gets tomatoes, she's just 4 months now. Oldest grand was here this weekend and is excited to see my tomatoes have been planted.

HippieChick58 comments on May 7, 2021:
For "all" to live... Seems there are way too many who want to put obstacles in the way of those trying to find their happy lives. Some folks will never be satisfied until they have it all; all the money, all the toys, all the resources. Sadly too many in government are of that ilk. Those of us who just want "enough" get shoved out of the way by those who grab more. So, short answer is no, not in this lifetime.

Here is a thought = was the law of chastity/ no sex until marriage an old form of "birth control" ?
HippieChick58 comments on May 5, 2021:
No, remember the church frowns on birth control. More babies is better, and with the history of infant mortality, families had to have lots of kids to make sure at least some made it to maturity. And then there is the issue of farm hand/workers that don't have to be paid for their labor except in food and lodging. In some instances having a child without a spouse was advertising that the woman was fertile and could bear babies.

I went to an open air Farmer's Market just before closing time, no crowds. I also occasionally visit fabric stores, grocery stores, and hardware stores. I have not been in a restaurant, but will drive through or pick up. I'm not ready to trust other people yet, I see too many people not wearing masks, or not wearing masks correctly. I have been with family without masks. I'm willing to wait til things get better to go into crowds.
