Is there truly any difference between a "cult" and a "religion".
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 30, 2021:
Interesting... I like playing with words, so I Googled Cult vs Religion and found this: https://penntoday.upenn.edu/news/it-cult-or-new-religious-movement#:~:text=Cult%20is%20a%20term%20that,for%20example%2C%20Scientology%20and%20Mormonism. *Cult is a term that doesn’t refer to religion at all, but is applied to a social movement. People have intuitive feelings about how the word cult should be used, even when an organization or movement meets the criteria of a new religion*. Take, for example, Scientology and Mormonism. Both were new religious movements that have evolved into a general understanding or definition of a religion. However, according to Pew Research, non-Mormons in the U.S. are more likely to label Mormonism as a cult.

I am willing to guess of those over 100+ messages, 98% were scammers. Times are tough, the scammers seem to proliferate in times like that. Your dates sounds really sucky. I don't think WA state needs to worry about tornadoes or hurricanes, I'm surprised his list did not include earthquakes which is a big concern that will lead to dam collapses where you are. My youngest was 3 when we moved to Tacoma, she called Mt Ranier Mount Raindeer. It always makes me smile and helps me remember the name of that potential volcano. I am with you on the hearing loss. I wear hearing aids now, they can be a PITA, but the benefits of hearing better are huge. My ex needs HA, but refuses to even consider it. I know what he is missing, I refuse to let hearing loss affect my relationship with my kids and grands. I do it for them, and to stay employed. Ex is retired, and doesn't care about the rest. Which is a good part of why he is my ex. Your experience doesn' t make me want to reconsider any dating sites, but you go girl for getting out there.

HippieChick58 comments on Apr 19, 2021:
Always remember: Leaves of Three, let it be!. The poison Ivy and Oak have sets of three leaves. Sorry, Sumac doesn't follow that rule. With these plants that is one time I will use Roundup because that will kill it right down to the roots. I grabbed a handful of poison ivy once while weeding, I didn't realize it was poison ivy until I dropped it into the pile of weeds. I quickly ran to wash my hands and didn't have any trouble with it. Now I look before I grab weeds. In the fall poison ivy has nice red berries which the birds love. And then they poop those seeds and spread the love around.

My late former FIL often referred to the excesses of the Roman government as being responsible for their downfall. They did not take the necessary steps to stomp out homosexuality. I don't think the US needs to be a world leader, we need to all work together. The US has too much BS going on at home, we can no longer be the world's policeman. Will the US recover, I have no idea. But I see a great deal of change in the future of the entire planet.
