As the mod and originator I have enjoyed nurturing this group for the past almost 2.5 years. Will I miss it when it is no longer needed, oh hayul yeah. However, I eagerly anticipate that day because it will be so much better for all of us. If the unthinkable happens and we still have to deal with this crapola after January... I may need reinforcements as I may be going away. either jail or locked ward. But yeah, it is a good time to give some serious thought to the post Drumpfie future, or contingency plans.

They ended up all over the world. There is a population in Louisiana that came over from France via Canada that apparently has Jewish blood. They have had children born with Tay Sachs disease. The theory being the some Jews settled in France during or because of a diaspora and brought along the faulty genetic materials. When they got kicked out of France and went to Canada and then Louisiana (Cajuns) they brought it along. They Jews ended up all over the world, and some didn't care to keep identifying as Jewish, so intermixed with the locals.

From an article years ago, Jesus would have looked like this guy, swarthy and not very tall, like the rest of the people of that area looked like based on records from the time. Given the amount of sunlight that the area gets, they would have been a darker skinned people, and due to the nutritional standards of the time they would not have been as tall as humans are today.

My kitties are very anxious if there is a door between us. Are they just snoopy or what? If I am gone when they hear the garage door open they congregate by the door to the garage. If I come in with someone they scatter to various hiding spots. If I am alone they race me up the stairs. They win. If I am in a room in my house with the door closed they are outside and generally trying to get my attention by reaching under the door. Right now they are both within 4 feet of me. They're not always my shadows, but a good part of the time I'm home they're close to me.

I don't know about any other area, but my city has drop boxes for all things dealing with elections. I can drop my ballot and my request for absentee at a location that is quite convenient for me. I DO have to get out of my car (it was pouring one of the times I drove over to drop off the ballot) but aside from that small inconvenience it is simple as pie. I highly recommend it.

I used to live in Western Washington state. That is where I truly understood what it meant to be a liberal, and that my (now ex) husband and I were not on the same page. I became an atheist after our divorce and when I really saw how the church treated mature single women. Getting away from the church let me take a step back and look at what they teach and how it is taught. They put their money on future xians, those who can't produce future xians aren't wanted. I ended up in a conservative xian bastion as a single liberal atheist. However, we do have a local AHA group, and a group dedicated to REASON. Before COVID, the community was pretty active for as small as we are. It could be worse, I guess. I could have been in one of the smaller more remote, more conservative towns. Naaahhh, Omaha is as small as I was willing to go.

All my kids turned out to be liberals, and are in long term committed relationships with other liberal individuals. When they were growing up we attended church, they were in youth groups and choirs. Their dad is hugely conservative and uber religious. I didn't fall out with the church until the youngest was 17. However, their dad and I always encouraged questions and critical thinking, and we spent a few of their formative years in western Washington state. That is where I rediscovered my liberal roots. None of the kids are religious either. I am delighted with how my kids turned out so I feel for your rift with your mom. It has to be hard on both of you. I cannot imagine hanging up on any of my kids.
