My ex got out of lots of "family" chores by studied inefficiency and ineptness. When we met he was a good cook, after we had kids he would cook only one thing, and it was horrible. Washing up was half assed, and frequently things broke. He could be counted on not to break kids and to get them in bed at a reasonable time. After we split the kids confirmed he only did what was absolutely necessary in the realm of housework. He liked to pour a glass of OJ and take it up the stairs and down the hall to his study, and the kiddoes confirmed there were OJ stains in the carpet all along that path. He did repair chores around the house, but it was guaranteed to be at least two trips to the hardware store, and hours of fussing, discussing, and whining. He did do the lawn mowing and snow removal. Fixing cars was done by the dealer or other repair/maintenance place.

I haven't had my hair trimmed in over a year, and I don't plan to be that close to another unrelated human being until I am fully vaccinated. My hairdresser's husband had a stroke last year, and when I last saw her she was needing to take him to several doctor/therapy appointments. I don't know if she has even been able to resume working, or how he is doing, or she is doing. Yes, the stress of daily life recently has escalated, but in the long run things are getting better. My opinion on hair is that it will grow back.

I spent six years in the Army, I can swear like a sailor, like a lumberjack, or like a street thug. I choose not to because I don't want to be the one to teach those words to the grands (so long as the grands are not in the car with me in heavy traffic, then all bets are off.) I will choose to stay away from those who don't delete the expletives. As far as I am concerned, folks who swear all the time are too lazy to develop a larger more descriptive vocabulary. There are so many other words out there that are descriptive enough to get the point across without offending. Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell and making them look forward to the trip.

I have a worm box in my garage. I've had the worm box for years, the residents are red wigglers. Today I shredded newspaper for new bedding and switched up the layers. I took the casting layer out, put it in a bag until I can start working in the garden, then filled that containter with veggie scraps and shredded moistened newspaper. This was the coldest winter we've had, and I was pleased to see worm activity. I don't think my garage ever gets below freezing, but we have had several days of sub zero temps, so I was concerned for them. I'm amazed by the little buggers, all sorts of veggies scraps and newspaper gets transformed into nutrient rich soil for my garden. I also have a compost bin, but I don't add anything to it in winter. I'm sure this winter it froze solid. I love that you have bee hives. I'd love to have one, but space and time constraints.

One of the perks of working for WM is a credit card that gives them cash back on their WM purchases. So, she has that credit card. That business was relocated to California, kid stayed here. Once the pandemic started she started to get groceries for me. So now my groceries come from WM. Oil of Cloves is a good temporary pain reliever. Rub a drop on the gum above the affected tooth or teeth. It only lasts for a few hours but every little bit of relief is good. I am WFH so don't need to go out. I was victim to our scheduled power outage of one hour. It started at exactly 0830, and ended at 0930. I messaged my supervisor and sat by the window and knit for an hour with a throw quilt on my lap and a jacket. My employer is not penalizing us for the hour of unscheduled time off as it is happening all over the area. I have not cleared my driveway, front walk or steps and porch. One of the neighbors has cleared the front sidewalk. I suspect it is the neighbor to the west, as the community mail box is to the east of my driveway. I am delaying ordering from Amazon until the steps/porch are clear. My expected visitors come in through the garage. Unexpected visitors are SOL. Monday's expected high is to be in the 40s, I will be relying on that to clear the drive, my house faces south and the sun does a damn good job when it has a chance. One of my kids delivers my groceries, and I have meals stocked up that will last for weeks. As long as the water lines don't freeze I'm good.
