Is this all there is?
HippieChick58 comments on May 2, 2020:
Is this all there is? Perhaps if you first define what you are seeking. "This" is a pretty all encompassing term. How much is enough, how much do you or does anyone need? I had a friend who told me his son was trying to "find" himself. I asked how his son got lost. That did not go over well. However the real answer to that dilemma is that we don't "find" ourselves, we create ourselves. To bring this back to your question, if this is not what you need, what are you doing about it. No one is going to find it for you, you have to create it yourself. Only you can do that, we can only offer support and encouragement, or something that looks like that. I encourage you to figure out how to use photo editing software and straighten your picture out. Or if having your picture sideways makes you happy, go for it.

We've got two groups that alert Admin to scammers. There are lots of "tells" to look for with scammers. For me, any very handsome younger male that contacts me is going to raise suspicions, especially from out of my area, or an area that doesn't exist. WATCHERS is one of our groups, and TROLLS... is another. It's a free site, scammers are stupid, they find the site, we find them, and they're gone.
The process we are in the center of at this time is happening whether or not we want it to.

My mother, a former nurse, gave me a mask with the first bundle of laundry she and dad did for me.
HippieChick58 comments on May 1, 2020:
Your mama loves you, wear your mask. I made masks for all my kids and their partners. My ex got at least one of the masks, and the parents of some of the partners also got my masks. I did try to use fabric that wouldn't be too frou frou or immature for all of us. I did not make masks for my employer. I work for a hospital. They sent out a memo that the fabric used had to be less than a year old. I've been sewing for over 50 years, I don't know how old some of the stuff in my stash is, and I wasn't going to go buy more fabric. So the masks I made and the ones I kept for myself are made of fabric I know is over a year old. I don't think it matters that much, and I know there is stuff on the shelves at fabric stores is over a year old.

At one time I unblocked everyone, and that lasted about 3 months.

My middle kid told me that any man I dated should not be more than 13 years younger than I am. She thought they should be closer to my age than to her sister my firstborn, who was born when I was 27. I just laughed because I never really have looked for younger men, and I just didn't bother to tell her about the younger men I did date, but those relationships did not last long. Right now it is not so much age as health/frame of mind, but I still don't look for younger men. When my mom died my dad was 47, and he made great efforts to avoid younger women. He did NOT want to raise another family. He did choose an older woman, she was 2 years older than he was, but he did not marry well. That marriage was hell from beginning to end.

Fifty Thousand Americans Dead from the Coronavirus, and a President Who Refuses to Mourn Them | The ...
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 25, 2020:
By Susan B. Glasser April 23, 2020 Healthcare workers wheel deceased people to a refrigerated trailer. To the extent that President Trump discusses those who have died, he does so in self-justifying terms, framing the pandemic as an externally imposed catastrophe that would have been worse without him. In just the past few days, President Trump has blamed immigrants, China, the “fake news” and, of course, “the invisible enemy” of the coronavirus for America’s present troubles. He has opined extemporaneously about his plans to hold a grand Fourth of July celebration on the National Mall and has announced that he planted a tree on the White House lawn in honor of Earth Day. He has offered his opinion on matters small and large, bragged about himself as “the king of ventilators,” and spent much time lamenting the pandemic-inflicted passing of what he invariably (and inaccurately) calls “the greatest economy in the history of the world.” Despite the flood of words, though, what has struck me the most this week is what Trump does not talk about: the mounting toll of those who have died in this crisis. So voluble that he regularly talks well past dinnertime at his nightly briefings, the President somehow never seems to find time to pay tribute to those who have been lost, aside from reading an occasional scripted line or two at the start of his lengthy press conferences, or a brief mention of a friend in New York who died of the disease soon after calling him at the White House. “He said, ‘I tested positive.’ Four days later he was dead,” the President recounted. “So this is a tough deal.” It was not exactly the prayerful, if often politically expedient, mournfulness Americans generally expect of their elected leaders. Trump, for the most part, dispenses even with the ritualistic clichés that other politicians, regardless of party or creed, have always offered in times of crisis. The New Yorker’s coronavirus news coverage and analysis are free for all readers. But the numbers are the numbers, and, notwithstanding Trump’s relentless happy talk, the coronavirus epidemic has, as of this week, already produced some fifty thousand American dead. This is not, needless to say, a best-case scenario, or anything close to it. Just a few weeks ago, a survey of scientific experts predicted forty-seven thousand U.S. dead by the beginning of May, according to the Web site FiveThirtyEight. Instead, forty-seven thousand deaths were recorded by this Wednesday, April 22nd, well before the experts had anticipated. On April 8th, a leading model at the University of Washington had revised its projections downward to forecast a total of sixty thousand American deaths by the beginning of August. But the nation now looks to hit ...

HippieChick58 comments on Apr 25, 2020:
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/hide-and-seek/201206/depressive-realism While people with depression can suffer from cognitive distortions, the scientific literature suggests that those with only mild-to-moderate depression can also have more accurate judgment about the outcome of so-called contingent events (events which may or may not occur), and a more realistic perception of their role, abilities, and limitations. This so-called 'depressive realism' may enable a person with depression to shed the Pollyanna optimism and rose-tinted spectacles that shield us from reality, to see life more accurately, and to judge it accordingly.

Jan 2019. Quilt for 2 year old granddaughter, just learning her colors. Her mama wanted it to be a rainbow quilt.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
