Kenya pastor tells females in his congregation, "Don't wear underwear in church.
HippieChick58 comments on Jul 23, 2020:
Yeah, that is 6 years old, so not exactly current. It's stupid as hell, and a good reason to abolish religion. Shows that pastors are not "godly" and have way too much power, and too much money.

Well, first of all NNES - her bio: *My name is becca peter I am very nice woman and honest woman,I am new for here and I am looking for a serious relationship with a good man and man that have fear of God and j a month ago for work but I’m also hoping to grow some roots. I came out as an atheist about 6 years ago. My parents are ok with it but they don’t understand it. We still talk regularly but the topic of religion is avoided. I’m ready to try to find people I can talk to, have conversations with, share some jokes at religion’s expense, and maybe make a few atheist friends*. She seems to be confused about what she is looking for. She is certainly pretty, and big bosom. She has gained some points by replying to her own posts, and making lots of posts. She seems to be confused whether she is an atheist or a god botherer. I'd say trust her as far as you can throw her, and keep an eye on her for the time being.
No kidding

HippieChick58 comments on Jul 21, 2020:
The police are not trained to do the work of psychologists, or social workers, or counselors. We need to stop using them for that purpose. I think defunding the police is critical, and put the funds to community good. City and county cops don't need tanks and military gear.

I generally don't drink milk, and only have milk at home if the grands are coming over. I asked one of the adult kids to bring a quart of milk to a family dinner, she brought a half gallon. The grands drank about a cup total. So I made ricotta and I have another 3 cups of whey to use up. I eat oatmeal almost every morning, but haven't put milk in it in ages. Drinking from the jug is kinda gross, the back wash can put all sorts of germs into the milk, and cause the milk to go bad faster. Even if I was in a relationship, don't drink from the jug.
Let's get real about online dating.
HippieChick58 comments on Jul 21, 2020:
In the 11 or so years I have been divorced I have tried about every dating site out there. I have had a few interesting dates, met one or two that might have been a long term, but never happened. Now I am pretty much resigned to remaining single. If the right person comes along it will have to be in person and I will have to meet that person in activities I already participate in. I'm not going out of my way to look. I live in a conservative state, so the odds of finding an agnostic/atheist gent that meets my standards are pretty slim.

I remember way back when (omg, so long ago) when I was a kid watching The Newlywed Game on TV. The question was "What is your favorite thing to Masticate." If you remember the dating game, wives would be asked how their husbands would answer, and vice versa. The definition was not given, and the answers were hysterical.

HippieChick58 comments on Jul 21, 2020:
Right now I am reading Humankind: A Hopeful History" by Rutger Bregman with my Humanists Book Club. We meet by Zoom now. Previously we read Blue Zones. Outside of the book club I just finished Mary Trump's book about her infamous uncle. I am a reader, and it is important to me that anyone I include in my life also is a reader. What are you currently reading is a question I frequently ask in the getting to know you stage. One guy told me he had not picked up a book since High School. That was a pass. As for movies, the last thing I watched and enjoyed was Season 2 of Big Bang Theory. I don't have cable, don't watch much TV, but I do have a Roku with Netflix and Amazon Prime. I use it lots for when the grandkids come over. Grandson watched something about bunnies when he was over here on Saturday.

How has hot weather affected your eating habits?
HippieChick58 comments on Jul 20, 2020:
I started the shutdown eating more meat and I added a supplement, but I can't remember which one it was. I also started eating lots of chocolate, that is my stress food. I also ate more bread, another comfort food. Now I have pretty much reverted to my precovid way of eating, less meat, less processed stuff. There is still a pound of bacon in my freezer that will stay there for now. And I haven't totally cut out the chocolate yet. I also eat more Miso, or that might be drink. My book club just finished a book "The Blue Zones" about the people who live to be 100, and some of the health habits they have. I have had Miso in my fridge for years, and decided it was time to finish that up and buy some fresh. I add veggies, tofu, and rice to the miso, makes a nice light dinner or lunch.

I am 62.5, and I love history, I have read lots that was never taught in school. There has NEVER been a time in the US when we have had this much crapola going on at once, and a designated leader who doesn't have the ability to lead. I believe these are growing pains of the republic which we are, or it is the death pangs. Depends on how the next few months play out which it is going to be. But yes, it is scary as hell, and yes, I'm anxious as hell. The only reason I have any hope for the future is I see my kids and their generation as very engaged and very disgusted with the Republican party. This is why I see it as growing pains. I see the conservative evangelical republicans as about to be overthrown. I see the oligarchy as coming down soon. Times, they are a changing. Change is hard. And yes, if I am wrong we are up Schitt creek without a paddle. But it isn't there yet, we just need to wait and watch. And yes, the waiting and watching is killing me.

HippieChick58 comments on Jul 18, 2020:
Intimacy means different things to different people, but to me intimacy is a meeting of minds in a very personal way. It is the grief analogy of the ball in the box. There is a button in the box that when the ball hits it causes pain. When the grief is fresh the ball is huge and the button gets hit often. Gradually the ball gets smaller, the button is bumped less. And then something will trigger the ball to grow again, and the cycle repeats. My mom died when I was 14, yes, I adjusted. However that ball has grown several times. When my children were born I missed my mom hugely, she would have been a terrific grandmother. When I accepted that xianity was false I grieved for her again as it was comforting to think of her in heaven with the baby that I lost. It has been almost 50 years since my mom died, I still miss her. Most days that ball is small, and then something will trigger it, but it usually isn't an overwhelming pain, just part of the fabric of my life.
My mom is heading back to California tomorrow with my brother via an 11 hour or so drive.
