Kingsley has been getting around!! How sweet!! I got a cat when I was active duty Army in Okinawa. The soldier I got her from said she was spayed. I woke up one morning to her giving birth in my laundry basket.... I wanted to watch/help but I had to get to work. When I got home from work I had several kitten and mama cleaned them up very well.

When I am alone, I eat mostly vegetarian. When I eat with my kids or others, I eat what they cook and don't worry about it. I'd rather focus on the relationships than the food. I am not willing to be so focused on my perfection or my preferences as to make someone else uncomfortable or to draw unneeded attention to myself. Today being Thanksgiving, my middle daughter (age 31) is the hostess for the family gathering. She is cooking a turkey, I will have some. She asked me to make pumpkin pies and a potato dish. The pies will have whipped cream. There is dairy and eggs in everything I've made for today. I don't know what else is going to be on the table, but I will eat it without questions. It isn't about me, it is about the relationship with the rest of the family. And their dad, my ex, will be there. He has had kidney stones a few times, had to have a surgery. He will grill the cook for the ingredients in a dish, and then loudly exclaim "oh, I can't eat that!" He can if he eats it in combination with something else, and no he hasn't seen a dietitian. There is a limit to how many times eyes can be rolled.

I have shopped on black Friday twice. Once when I started the divorce and needed to get some stuff as we (me and kid) were moving to an apartment the following weekend. The second time I was working Thanksgiving day, it was snowy and crazy. while at work I dropped my cell phone and killed it, and realized I had no way to call anyone if I had any problems with the roads on my way home. I don't have any phone numbers memorized anymore, I rarely dial anyone on my contact list. My Christmas shopping for this year is done, I think. I relocated twice after the divorce, and moved to current location 6 years ago. I have had roommates, but platonic only. Last roommate left 3.5 years ago. There are reminders of the life I had before in my home, that is life, I have living breathing reminders (kids) that visit often. I am also extremely glad I was the one to move out, it was way too much house for me alone. I was not sad to leave that baggage.

When my kids were growing up (they are now 27 to 34) we went to church, I was a bible study leader, director of VBS, and active in committees and lay leadership. I was a "church lady". 15 years ago we moved to Omaha and I could not find a church I was comfortable with. Nebraska is way more conservative than I liked, but we ended up in a conservative church because the kid still at home knew kids there, and I had plans for the future that I wanted her to have a good support group. I chose divorce about 10ish years ago, my ex had grown way too conservative and way too invested in his xian website. He put the website above family. I moved out with the youngest, and she and her dad continued going to the church. I drifted, and then moved further and further away from religion. My mind cleared and I saw the light. The two older kids came out as atheist/agnostic, and the youngest still goes to church to keep daddy happy, and her social group, she is now the pianist for the church. It might change, she just moved further away from the church and I think the drive in will be too much with her family obligations. We were a military family so we moved frequently, and military at the time was so inclusive of other faiths and backgrounds, my kids were encouraged to learn everything. My ex is more alarmed that the middle child is atheist than that she is gay.

And if you want to make her day, send an email or letter to the director of billing or Chief Financial Officer and tell them how well you think she did. That gets noticed and that will boost her standing with the company. I had a parent tell me how well one of my team had done for them, helping to figure out which order in which to pay which bills, I mean this was organized to the nth degree. She gushed about my teammate, and I emailed our supervisor with her praise and cc'd my teammate. Gotta pass along the attaboys when they come, they go up in smoke so darn fast.

My grands are a bit young yet, the oldest is not yet 3. My girls are all good cooks and quite adventurous in the kitchen. They were all around plants and gardening somewhat. One of them cans and preserves foods, which I never got into (we moved too often.) I don't plan to ever move, all the kids are within the greater metro area and I want to watch the babies grow up.

I do most of my shopping online, except for groceries. I don't like crowds and noise. I will need a new mattress one day not far away, I will go to the store for that. I got some of my furniture online, some in a store, and some at Estate Sales. I have bought some fabrics online, but mostly I like to go to the store for that. Fabric/Quilting stores are places to dream in, I can spend way too much time there. My middle daughter wants to learn to crochet and she went to JoAnn's Fabrics with me on Saturday. She was overwhelmed with the choices and possibilities. That was such a proud mom moment :)

My oldest daughter was born when I was 27. When I started dating my middle daughter told me that I should date men closer to my age than to her sister's age, so they should not be more than 14 years younger than I am. That is fine with me, I prefer men closer to my age or older anyway. And in the long run it doesn't matter because I'm not finding anyone to date.
