HippieChick58 comments on Aug 22, 2019:
My mom died in 1972, I was 14, my sisters were 12 and 8. My brothers were all out of the house, two in the Navy and one in Juvie. My dad was so freaked out by the idea of raising 3 girls he married the first woman he dated, and he was married 6 months after our mother passed. That old phrase, marry in haste repent in leisure really played out. They were miserably married for nearly 30 years. She attacked my two younger sisters with a knife, they still have the defensive scars on their arms. She was largely the reason I joined the Army. It got me the hell of of that hell. My dad never got a chance to grieve my mom and I think he wished for death long before he died. So never, ever rush.
What about grief?
HippieChick58 comments on Aug 22, 2019:
I dated a guy who joined a dating site the DAY OF his late wife's funeral. We had a first date within a week, there were still funeral flowers in his house. She had a long term chronic debilitating condition that unexpectedly became fatal. We dated for a few weeks, he really wanted to move forward fast, until he had a major anxiety attack and put it all on hold. He started seeing a therapist and said he'd call back in 6 months. He didn't. He had an unusual name, and something triggered a memory, so I googled him and found his obit. He passed on 5 months after our end, less than a year after his late wife died. They had a kid still in high school. He was mid 50s. I don't know if it was grief or what, but for sure he wasn't ready to move on that fast.
Here's a poll:
HippieChick58 comments on Aug 22, 2019:
I want him gone, and Pence with him. I'd love for him to be dead, but I'm afraid that would set him up as a martyr or cult figure and that could cause all sorts of future shit. I'd be great with him going to prison, or just fading into obscurity. A massive stroke would be cool, with severe impairment of speech and mobility, some drooling and facial drooping would be awesome. Anything that his followers would find repugnant. Definitely something to keep him off the golf course and out of the public eye. Make it easier for the secret service to "protect" him.

I think education is needed. Too many people are willfully ignorant and convinced they are doing gawd's work by all the BS that is happening. The Neo Nazis are not mentally ill, they are carefully trained to be damn proud of their white skin and intolerance. It has always been there, it is just now socially acceptable because of the current administration. I think the loss of the Fairness Doctine has allowed TV stations to pander to the lowest element of society and inflame their perceived loss of status as the fault of the poor and disenfranchised rather than where it is truly coming from the rich and greedy. No, it is not a mental health issue.

What America’s gun fanatics won’t tell you - MarketWatch
HippieChick58 comments on Aug 12, 2019:
And there’s a reason absolutely no gun extremist will ever direct you to that 1788 essay because it blows their baloney into a million pieces. A “well-regulated militia” didn’t mean guys who read Soldier of Fortune magazine running around in the woods with AK-47s and warpaint on their faces. It basically meant what today we call the National Guard. It should be a properly constituted, ordered and drilled (“well-regulated”) military force, organized state by state, explained Hamilton. Each state militia should be a “select corps,” “well-trained” and able to perform all the “operations of an army.” The militia needed “uniformity in … organization and discipline,” wrote Hamilton, so that it could operate like a proper army “in camp and field,” and so that it could gain the “essential … degree of proficiency in military functions.” And although it was organized state by state, it needed to be under the explicit control of the national government. The “well-regulated militia” was under the command of the president. It was “the military arm” of the government.

Sadly it didn't say much, and one of the big things it didn't say is SCAMMERS. I've met far more scammers than I've had dates, and been stood up by a few of those scammers. I'm so jaded I'm not nervous on a first date anymore. What it also didn't say is many older dudes are looking for nurses with purses. I met a couple of those a few years back. The generic dating advice applies to all ages, if they don't speak well of their ex, that will be the way he speaks about you after the ardor cools. And if he isn't over his ex or late spouse he isn't ready to be dating.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
