I have several friends both male and female that don't have kids or extended family. Even if you do have kids there is no guarantee that the kids will stay near you, or even have a relationship with you. On friend in particular has some challenging health issues that will worsen as she ages. She is concerned that if she is ever hit by a bus, even though she has a DNR the ER won't know. End of life issues are hard. I am thankful my kids are close by and we have a good relationship. They know what I want and I'm pretty sure they will be my advocate if needed.

People take priority, even though I love the fur kids. When I was still married we had a golden retriever. Ex would not allow him on the bed. But, when I was in bed alone the dog was allowed, and he knew it. The kitty came and went as she pleased, but she also learned to stay away from the ex's side of the bed when he was there. I slept like a baby when I had the dog behind me and the cat in front. I miss my Chief.

They Posed as Soldiers in Love. Over 30 People Lost $2.1 Million.

A crime ring based in Ghana swindled online victims with promises of romance and gold, officials said. A New Jersey man was arrested. ImageRubbin Sarpong, in a photo posted to his Instagram account @rksmullateam. Rubbin Sarpong, in a photo posted to his Instagram account @rksmullateam. Azi PaybarahJack Nicas By Azi Paybarah and Jack Nicas Sept. 5, 2019 It often started with a hope for love, then quickly turned into a promise of gold. In one tragic case, it ended in death. A woman had struck up a romance on a dating website with a man who said he was a United States soldier stationed overseas. He claimed to have more than $12 million worth of gold from Syria but needed help bringing it to the United States, so she sent him $93,000. He sent back a photograph of an Israeli diplomat she was supposed to meet at the Baltimore airport who was going to bring her “two trunks with ‘family treasure’,” according to a criminal complaint. But he never showed up. The next day, she killed herself. The United States attorney for New Jersey has said that the woman’s death was part of a complex and brazen fraud that swindled more than 30 people out of about $2.1 million. The scheme, officials said, was run by two people in New Jersey and their associates in Ghana. It usually involved someone posing as an American service member on a dating website and “wooing” a target “with words of love,” according to the complaint. While internet frauds have persisted for years, the breadth of the swindle stands out, as well as the fact that it led to arrests. On Wednesday, the F.B.I. arrested one New Jersey man, Rubbin Sarpong, for conspiracy to commit wire fraud. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines. A lawyer for Mr. Sarpong did not respond to a message seeking comment. The case also comes amid growing scrutiny of the proliferation of this type of fraud and struggles by tech companies and the military to stop them. The New York Times reported in July that similar swindles were rampant on Facebook, Instagram and other platforms. Hundreds of profiles were found that impersonated military service members and veterans, including the nation’s top generals. Following The Times’s reporting, Representative Adam Kinzinger said he was considering legislation to force Facebook and other companies to do more to prevent such frauds. The congressman, who is also in the Air National Guard, said scammers have used his likeness for years to defraud people online. On Thursday, Mr. Kinzinger, an Illinois Republican, criticized Facebook for its announcement that users in the United States could now create dating profiles on its platform. Facebook said the service, Facebook Dating, was already available...

HippieChick58 comments on Sep 3, 2019:
Uncertainty, when I feel like my job is threatened. My job training was not going well because I could not hear, which I will be forever thankful that my supervisor was able to figure out that I might need (and now have) hearing aids. However, she has a different approach to many aspects of our job, and some of the things she has done/said I think were wildly inappropriate. I was compared to a whiny millennial. Mind blown, however my anxiety levels have been off the chart. So now that I have been retrained and I'm back to where I was before, she has not followed up to discuss how things are going. We had some communication with Employee Health that I needed different headsets to use. She did not follow up with either me or EH that they were ordered. Since the whiny millennial and other OMG discussions with her I've tended to avoid direct contact with her. I just wanna keep my head down, be left alone to do my job and survive til I can really retire.

There is a small town in Nebraska that was pretty much wiped out, they are thinking it is time to move the town to higher ground. Ya think? I am not sure if they should disband the town and move to neighboring towns that might need the business or just move the town. It is not like there is a mandate for the town to exist. I who have lived a somewhat nomadic life have no ties to any towns. Others may not agree. Since I realize I don't have a dog in that fight and the outcome will not affect me much, I simply don't care.

HippieChick58 comments on Aug 31, 2019:
Guilting someone is another form of emotional abuse. My grandmother used it like a sledge hammer. She would threaten to have a heart attack if we did not comply. It just isn't my responsibility to take care of your whims.

HippieChick58 comments on Aug 29, 2019:
Part of the reason I rejected religion and especially the Xian church is the treatment of women. I am female (stating the obvious I hope) and I have daughters. When they were teens I read the buybull three times cover to cover. One of the stories that kept bothering me was the story of Tamar, daughter of King David. She is raped by her brother and her life is ruined, and yet she is the daughter of the King and it definitely wasn't her fault. Looking at my own daughters I thought WT(not so holy)F! So I started looking with more feminist eyes and I thought this is absolutely BS. Then my critical thinking skills came back to life, it did take a few years, but when you start really questioning stuff you won't like the answers. Then look at all the world religions and it is so much of the same BS over and over again. The movies of the Zeitgeist series were about the final nails in the coffin. So, why am I an atheist... because my eyes are open and I am a thinker. God calls for rape, pillage, and plunder. He created us in his image, gave us sharp minds, planted that damn tree; and then he wants us to be sheep. He loves us so much that he will burn us forever in hell if we don't love him. Yeah, that is just messed up. Thanks but no.

Just be honest, but kind. It isn't working for me. You don't need to tell them why if it isn't anything they can change, even if it is something they could change, they wouldn't and it wouldn't matter.

Apparently not a real restaurant, just a parody of some of Mickie's rather outrageous business ideas. https://thelifeandtimesofhollywood.com/mickey-rooneys-wacko-businesses-from-mickeys-weenie-world-to-mickeys-tip-offs-disposable-bras-how-mickey-took-100-million-in-earnings-and-ended-up-with-only-18000-at-his/ and this: https://twitter.com/iowahawkblog/status/1033332846751047684?lang=en

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
