HippieChick58 comments on Apr 13, 2018:
http://www.askamanager.org/ will have all sorts of advice for you related to careers. The "manager" has been in HR forever and gives great advice. Seriously best blog ever, I read it every day. I started my "grown up" work life at 18, joining the Army. Not a good fit. Then I got married, got out of the Army and followed my ex around. I was a Stay At Home Mom (and logistics organizer). After raising my kids I went to school and got an AA degree in Health Information Management and entered the job market at menopause as the economy was tanking. It's been a wild ride.

What, me worry?
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 12, 2018:
For me it isn't quite that simple. It isn't always easy to control my thoughts, they seem to develop a life of their own, especially when the light are out. When I was in a situation of insecurities (financial/job/housing/etc) then the thoughts were very out of control. There is somewhat less insecurity now, but still don't necessarily have a peaceful mind. I have noticed when I use an herbal supplement that I will still have the thoughts, but they don't seem to linger as long and fewer upsetting thoughts hang around and more amusing or benign thoughts pop in for a few moments. You're lucky if you can turn it off.

Oh for darn sure!! The diet food industry would curl up and die. The cosmetic companies would take a hit, not totally but I believe less would be consumed. And plastic surgeons would go out of business all over the place. Many magazines would have a large income drop. How many women's magazines feed on women's insecurities. It is crazy!

I turned 60 in January. I rarely wear makeup, I do not color my hair. I stay well hydrated and don't each much processed food which I'm told is why I have great skin, few wrinkles. I might not look 60 but my knees tell another story. My mom died at 45 and I decided I'd never regret growing older, she never got the chance. I don't know how to act my age, I've never been this age before. I act how I wanna. I don't give a flying f..k for what others might think.

HippieChick58 comments on Apr 12, 2018:
I've read that men are more visual, so just watching the action gets men excited. Women need a story line. Porn does not accurately portray what humans want, it appeals to the lowest basic instincts. Porn doesn't appeal to me, erotica does. My expectation of what sex should be were formed before I knew much about porn or erotica. When I was growing up it was Playboy magazine and despite having brothers I "knew" about it but never saw it. Yes, I'm a dinosaur.

HippieChick58 comments on Apr 10, 2018:
You should enjoy the moment you're in, and live like you will die tomorrow, but there are no guarantees. However, you should prepare for the future tomorrows by socking something away for retirement or a rainy day. Last week I'd have said I'm at peace if I go tomorrow, everyone knows how I feel about them, I am at peace with everyone. Well that didn't last long.

I'd actually stretch it out to within 8 years of my own age, maybe further. The older you get the wider the window can be, I think. My kids have "suggested" a potential long term should be closer to my age than to the oldest child's age, so for them as long as he is within 13 years of my age they'll be cool.

I live near the geographical center of the USA, in the great plains. Where I live it is hilly, I am in Omaha, Nebraska, near the border with the Missouri River and Iowa is on the other side. We were settled by farmers and other immigrants. My great grandparents came from Germany, Switzerland, Scotland, and England. We have a world class zoo. We have the College World Series of Baseball (apparently that is important to some.) We displaced indigenous populations to build our farms and run our railroad tracks across the land. There used to be large herds of bison roaming the land, those went away with the railroads, and the indigenous population was mistreated and herded onto the poorest land available and left to essentially starve.

After kids I'd have occasional breakouts. Now past menopause OMG is my skin dry, but I rarely break out. I'm pretty sure if I had a better diet and better habits as a teen my skin would have been much better.
