Questions like this are difficult for me to answer. I'm not really a creature of memory. Not in the way most people are. I have memories of course, but most of the details of things I've done blur into an opaque haze. I would be hard pressed to give anything beyond the broad strokes of any event in my life. Everyone else in my life amazes me with their ability to recall, with vivid detail, all manner of things from their lives. My sister's are always talking about our childhood, and often I only have the vaguest notion of what they're remembering with such clarity. However, I can recall feelings fairly well. I may not remember everything I did, but I remember how it made me feel. For example, I went to Disney World for the first time last year. Big family trip, 5 days down there. I remember having a wonderful time. I can probably only cite 2 things I did in those 5 days that I can give any real details on. Everything else is just a mixed up blur of being excited, joyful, happy, and tired.

As I understand it, it is difficult to make changes in one area without also generating changes in another. Like an infinitely more complicated rubiks cube. So vanity projects like turning yourself into Captain America or Einstein will likely always be out of reach. However, let's say we solve that particular conundrum and we can get the precise results we want with minimal side effects. The technology and procedures won't be cheap. Outside of specific medical conditions any changes you want to make will be the definition of an elective procedure. Insurance won't cover it. I don't know about you but I can barely afford my share of my regular prescriptions, let alone hundreds of thousands of dollars in out of pocket costs for night vision or any other enhancement. But you know who can? The 1%. So what will happen is a furthering of the class divide as the wealthy make themselves faster, stronger, smarter, resistant to disease, and longer lived. Each generation improving by leaps in bounds over the previous one. Meanwhile everyone else is stuck in the shallow end of the public gene pool, evolving the old fashioned way. If you think there's inequality now, just wait until the wealthy are quantitatively better then us in ways that can be tested and measured. Once we start down this road it will be almost impossible to change course.

I was a big fan of The Real Ghostbusters on Saturday morning's. It had some really interesting episodes. After school, there was a great block of Disney shows that, at various times, included Ducktales, Talespin, Darkwing Duck, Aladdin. And finally, Batman: The Animated Series was an incredible show, and probably the first time I was exposed to the idea that a cartoon show could be more then just silly fun. That it could explore themes of loss and tragedy, and that sometimes alls the good guys get for winning is a painful mess that's only slightly smaller then if they had lost.
