I like being agnostic -- it comports a lot more with reality than the things I was taught about a god growing up, which were very authoritarian, stultifying and shame-inducing. I'm atheist in the sense that I don't believe in invisible, authoritarian male deities because it's so easy to see the use of fear by religious and state leaders, down the ages, for purposes of social control -- the equivalent of the man behind the curtain in The Wizard of Oz. It's been so freeing to let go all that austere religious moralism and just be the person I am, one who does what's right because it's the right thing to do, not because of fear. I just discovered Agnostic. com and I'm glad you-all are here!
