Sorry my friend but I absolutely reject any idea that proposes making people suffer as a path to enlightenment. Poverty, whether monetary, emotional or other has lasting and damaging effects. Just spit-ballin' here, BUT, what if, once a guilty verdict has been reached, the convicted sexual predator just gets shot in the head? Like right there in the courtroom? That would go a long way to reduce recidivism. Victims would have closure, and would never need to fear their attacker ...

And why we are on the subject of Government interference then you are wrong too. Government is there to interfere, they are there to look after the people, they are there to make laws so people have clean air, can drink the water without being poisoned, can have a job that pays them a living wage, can buy that medicine that they need without it costing more than what they are earning, so yes Government interference is what is needed. What you don't need is lobbyists, lobbyists who give money to politicians and corrupt them.

How are you coping with life after being in Thailand for so long?
Jolanta replies on Feb 20, 2019:
@birdingnut My daughter lives there so I go there quite often and just love the place. If I had to live in a large major city in Australia, Melbourne would be my choice.

Why Would Anyone Fall In Love With You?
Jolanta comments on Feb 19, 2019:
How can one answer that? What is special/different/endering/lovealbe about me or anybody else is not special to others.
Jolanta replies on Feb 20, 2019:
@SleeplessInTexas Yes you are right. Then older I get then more "critical" I get too. No matter how I may be interested in someone as soon as they are mean or arrogant to the waitress I seem to go off them at once.
If wealth was the result of hard work . . .
Jolanta comments on Feb 18, 2019:
Long time ago when I was in Sri lanka on holidays. In the restaurant which did not have aircon, some of the European people were complaining that the service was too slow, the waiters weren't moving fast enough for them. I was astounded, but did not say anything I just could not believe what I ...
Jolanta replies on Feb 20, 2019:
@Rustee No, there are asses everywhere, and I think that the reason people around the world talk about the "ugly American" is because so many Americans are incredibly loud and they know everything when they are overseas. I do have to tell you that they are not all like that, I have met many very nice ones and when I have been to the US I find most people very hospitable.

@gater What, you call it repairing, to refuse people health care, to revoke laws about making it ok for companies to dump toxic waste into waterways, to revoke laws about banks being allowed to lend to people who cannot afford those loans. What kind of person are you, who don't care about your own country men and women.

Jolanta replies on Feb 20, 2019:
@icolan I have feeling that so far very few presidents have care about long term consequences, however I think that Bernie would do his utmost for the majority of Americans.

starwatcher-al comments on Feb 19, 2019:
While I generally like Bernie, he is not electable. Too far left in most peoples' eyes. And while I'm "old" also, it's an issue. We need younger people in top positions who are in touch with more of the general population. IMHO
Jolanta replies on Feb 19, 2019:
Why is he not electable? Because he is old? Because he is too far left? What does all that mean actually. To me it sounds like some kind of propaganda from his enemies.
