Gosh, I feel sorry for you. You know there are no laws that says that we should love our siblings or parents. Sometimes or often they are not nice people and we have to let them go and yes I know that we will feel lonely and abandoned but it is much bette to be on your own and be at peace then be with someone because we are related to them and so we should be "together and love each other. My mother was like your brother and I am an only child. I could do nothing right, if I said it was a sunny day she would tell me that I should stop whining that the sun was shinning and if I said it was raining then I was whining about that too. It took me many years to understand that I would never make her happy and that I did not have to live my life the way she wanted me to, or even love her. How can one lone someone when one only gets criticised all the time, no matter what. In the end I had to let her get out of my life for me to be happy and have some peace. I wish it would have been different but it was not. I now am an extremely happy person with friends who do appreciate and love me.

However, nobody is prepared to give them that much power. I know of people that are very lonely and wonder why they do not have friends/a relationship but they themselves are "bad" friends or boyfriend/girlfriends. @Simon1, @dahermit I think women have changed and unfortunately men are left behind. They have lost their "hunter gatherer" reason due to women now being able to earn their own money. They don't understand that we can be equal yet different. When something is lacking in a relationship most women try to fix it in different ways but men just bury their heads in the sand and pretend that nothing is happening. I am not blaming men and I feel sorry for them, it must be hell for some of them, all the things that they think a men should be is not so.
