St. Petersburg,Russia. Interesting place to visit, lots to see.

Nice, I am hoping to do a cruise of the Baltic sometime soon and want it to include St Petersburg or the Paris of the North as it used to be termed!
Jolanta replies on Aug 21, 2018:
It is a lovely place to visit, the palaces are amazing. Remember to book a tour before you go, they will arrange a visa which you need. Booking it with the cruise ships is more expensive. There is no public transport when you get off the ship, no taxi or busses either. Be prepared for a lot of tourists and buy your souvenirs in town too. They have them on the ship but you will have to pay 100 times more

Radioactive Traces from the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster Found in California Wine [livescience.com]
Jolanta comments on Jul 24, 2018:
That is not the only thing that is in Californian wines. Apparently it is full of pesticide too. Can you imaging what would happen to crops around the world if Donald drop a nuclear bomb on North Korea, how that would poison a huge areas around the world.

Well, no he did not. Most recently, in 1991 more than 8,000 troops marched down Washington D.C.’s Constitution Avenue in a victory parade celebrating the end of the Persian Gulf War. Stealth fighter planes passed overhead while tanks and Patriot missiles rolled by a crowd of 200,000, according to William J. Eaton and Beth Hawkins of the Los Angeles Times. The attendance was below the 1 million-plus spectators predicted to turn out to view the $12 million event. But by that evening’s fireworks display, the turnout swelled to 800,000.

How hot is level 3 alert?
Jolanta replies on Jul 24, 2018:
@rakuman I live in Australia, not in a very hot place like the tropics but we get very hot summers her. It is not unheard that in summer it is up to 40C day after day and in winter like it is now the days are about 10 - 14C and nights -7C. At the moment it is winter and I do not like it. Time to go on holidays.
Today I met someone in person from this site. It's nice to know like minded people live close.

Christians protest against a Muslim woman...Why?
birdingnut comments on Jul 24, 2018:
It's annoying, but Muslims have the same religious misogynistic/homophobic/transphobic/racist biases as Christians do..maybe even worse, since some traditional Muslims actually kill girls who are raped, or who date non-Muslims. That Muslim woman hasn't a moral leg to stand on. Her religion is as...
