You are mistaken. The "placebo" affect alone proves that what we think affects us. People who have visual feedback can even regulate their heart beats, blood pressure, etc. We are ultimately made of energy and everything is connected. We are contributing to creating our own universe. ...

If you're discussing liquid in a container, you're not discussing the philosophy behind the question. You are criticizing philosophy without understanding it.

Since you are so enamored of Philosophy, it would be appropriate to discuss the issue at hand rather than make personal comments. Please explain your last paragraph.

Seriously, though, it's refillable if we're lucky enough to have access to resources such as water and milk.

Glass half full or half empty?

Half-full implies the mathematical addition of "positive." Half -empty implies the mathematical of "subtraction" or, negative numbers. Please stop trying to be philosophically "astute" when the basics clearly apply.

Pointing out the manipulation of words to support a desired philosophy of life is not being pretentious.

You are mathematically correct as far as positive and negative regarding mathematical meaning. However this is totally different from positive and negative with regards to social meaning. The milk example illustrates this difference!

We're talking semantics again. I believe lots of claims. The reason I believe is because I have assessed the evidence for those claims and understand that it is sufficient for me to accept them as likely to be true. I agree that you can believe for good reasons or bad reasons, but provided you...

It looks interesting - but how does it relate to countries outside of the USA? To Britain, France or Spain for example, where police brutality is (nowadays) severely curtailed and the welfare state has become strongly rooted?

I show that the more social-democratic the country is, the better its education system.
