Good morning! I'm not into playing sports at all, and don't watch much either (unless it's soccer).
Lavergne comments on Mar 26, 2019:
Never got into watching the professional sports - but I did go to all the high school football games. When I was young.....roller skating in the concrete jungle (N.Y.C) then lived in Alaska - so skiing and ice skating. Cheerleader - and basketball in Jr. High....rode a bike everywhere. Badminton and croquette....volleyball in the summers at the beach. Normal kid stuff.... I am more mindful now of thinning bones and aging joints so I'm a little more sedentary these days.... ;)
Which Pink Kitty have you ever seen or have ever had???
Lavergne comments on Mar 26, 2019:
Closest I ever came - watching the Pink Panther movies.... ;) ;)
I've had something gnawing at me for a couple of days and I feel like I need advice or something.
Lavergne comments on Mar 26, 2019:
It is incredibly naive to think that a long term marriage or relationship will be 24/7 happy, happy, happy. It's like the tide - it comes and goes. You and your husband managed to enjoy the really happy parts together and work thru the parts that were not so happy. Kudos to you for having done that.....a lot of people bolt the minute the happy starts to wear thin. This new man is your life is either very perceptive and pays attention to what you say and do - or he has "been in your shoes" so to speak. Either way, it bodes well for you and there is absolutely no reason for you to feel ashamed. Hope the two of you find the contentment that you deserve at this stage of your life.... :)

Lavergne comments on Mar 26, 2019:
Why do you have to kill off the solar industry? Can't we walk and chew gum at the same time? I agree - lets convert all the coal plants into biomass plants. I'm all for fast tracking hemp production.... We all live on this planet together - seems like we should be able to collectively get behind ideas that will benefit everyone. ;)
A bargain a half this price!

Once again...I give you ----- American Exceptionalism. bwahahaha :)
The older women younger men theory.
Lavergne comments on Mar 25, 2019:
I've always thought that "cougar" term was kind of funny. When you think about it - the big cats are fiercly protective of their young - both male and female - until they reach a certain age and then they "get the boot" (particularly the males). ;) ;)
Welcome to all our new members.
Lavergne comments on Mar 25, 2019:
I like people who have definite opinions about pretty much everything - and don't have a problem sharing them. We may not agree on any/all things - but it should make for some interesting sharing of thoughts and ideas....
This is a burning question now that I just had chilli for supper.

Midwest flooding has killed livestock, ruined harvests and has farmers worried for their future - ...
Lavergne comments on Mar 24, 2019:
And I'm betting most of these farmers will hold out their hands - take the government subsidy that will no doubt come - and then vote for trump again. What's that saying about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? ;)
Good Sunday morning! Simple question today: what are you up to today?
Lavergne comments on Mar 24, 2019:
Off to the gym - gotta keep those joints moving and stay flexible... Pop in to Kroger - can always think of a couple of things I need - since I'm right there anyway... Start uncovering things in the flower beds that have been protected from the winter cold by a very thick layer of yuchy wet matted leaves....uggh.....this will take weeks to finish Throw together a roasted pork tenderloin, smothered cabbage, wild rice and blackeye peas and some corn muffins just for fun.... hmmmmm......I'm thinking maybe someone would like to have an ice cold martini ready and waiting when he gets home from work. I'll drink to that! :) 5'2" :(
You've had too much coffee when.

Good morning! Right away, here's today's question: What were some of the turning points in your ...
Lavergne comments on Mar 23, 2019:
I would agree that marriage(s) and the births of children are "major turning points" for most people. New jobs....new cities....new houses - for me - not so much. I always just thought of them as a slight variation on a theme. When both of my parents passed a year or so apart it was a sobering thought to realize that my siblings and I were now "the elders". (There's a little part of me that still feels like a 20 something...hahaha) . I guess the biggest turning point for me was when I quit the dead end job I had, packed up my two sons and moved several hundred miles away. When I look back on that now - I cringe to think how crazy and reckless that must have seemed. ;) ;)

Spring libations.
Lavergne comments on Mar 22, 2019:
Bacardi makes a frozen mix - all you do is throw it in the blender, add the ice and tequila and its pretty damn good. But then again, I'm a lazy bartender. ;)

Lavergne comments on Mar 21, 2019:
I think it has more to do with being comfortable enough in your own skin so that you can listen objectively to a partner who espouses views that may be very different than your own. As long as you can respectfully agree to disagree on some things - but you love each other very much- I think that relationship can work. Not saying it will the easiest one you've ever had - but maybe one of the most interesting.. ;)

I just found out my sole surviving aunt is in her final days.
Lavergne comments on Mar 19, 2019:
So sorry to hear that.....you are lucky to have all those memories - it is a strange and sad feeling to see that family circle grow smaller and smaller. When my parents passed, it really did hit hard - because as you said - now WE are the family elders. :( We're all here for you.....
Hey kids.
Lavergne comments on Mar 19, 2019:
I completely agree....there is no universe in which there is any kind of justification for gunning down people who are in their house of worship minding their own business. You do not have to like me - or agree with me on anything - but - as a matter of common human decency - you should be able to accord me the same right to exist as you expect.....
I'm sure we all have done this

LIVIING IN THE MOMENT.
Lavergne comments on Mar 17, 2019:
ok....I've had a friend for many years - she lived a fairly comfortable life and yet the conversations between us usually went something like "I can't wait till Thanksgiving is done and gone - I'm totally stressed out about ( blah blah blah I usually tuned out about then)" and then came the "Oh good grief - all this stress over the christmas season - food - events - gifts - I'll be soooooo glad when all this mess is over". So you get the picture? She literally "wished her life away" - one stressful event after another thinking that as soon as things were all nice and calm she could "begin" to properly enjoy her life. And then she developed serious health problems.....and then her husband committed suicide in his own bedroom so she had to be the one to find that and deal with it.....and she just last week got out of rehab for the second time. So I guess the reason why people say that it to remind us all that we should stop obsessing over how perfect everything will be day after tomorrow (or ever). Just enjoy the sun on your face today....that great song on the radio....a phone call or letter from an old friend. Just sayin'......
I say this out of genuine regard and a desire for more members to be understood more clearly.
Lavergne comments on Mar 17, 2019:
My boss was the absolute worst when it came to spelling and grammar. One year - for christmas - I wrapped up a copy of a book I had found quite by accident called the "Comma Sutra" - tongue in cheek - it was all about grammar and spelling. When he tore off the wrapping paper his mind immediately went to "kama sutra" and he turned red and looked like he was about to die of embarrassment - hehehehe. I "got" him just about every year..... ;) ;)

Get out your bibs people, it's drool time! Cabbage Rolls.
Lavergne comments on Mar 15, 2019:
looks good! I made a batch a couple of weeks ago and we really enjoyed them - it had been a long time since I made them. Something else to do with the cabbage leaves that have been parboiled: put some sliced corned beef and a slice of swiss cheese and just a little sauerkraut, roll them up like a cabbage roll and warm them just a little so the cheese gets a little soft - it's like eating a Reuben - but without the bread.

Really wish people would quit using their "cultures" as justification for ANYTHING.
Lavergne comments on Mar 13, 2019:
Totally agree.....you can love your culture and defend it - but that does not give you any particular high ground -- all cultures have anomalies and what makes it interesting is to learn all about different cultures without making any judgments - one way or the other....IMHO
