Born in Wisconsin and raised in Fla. My passion is butterfly gardening. I am also passionate about animal rights, esp concerning game hunting for sport. My hobbies include movies and Karaoke. I recently became atheist around 3 yrs ago. I just realized that any book that cannot be taken literally is a poor source of information. Of course, I am referring to the Bible.

Leafhead comments on Dec 2, 2018:
I have wondered that too. In many states where it's legal the local folks cannot partake because of their fucking corporate jobs :( Here in WI, CBD is legal, but recreational is not. Yet many businesses are scratching cannabinoids off their drug screens. Depends on the job though. Pot's just not that big a deal here.

I have Cicada Killer Wasps yearly. They terrify my neighbors. But It is not accurate to call them hornets. Hornets, Yellow jackets and Paper Wasps all belong to one family (Polistes) and are social. Polistes wasps will defend their nests. Cicada Killers are in another family (Crabronidae) and are not social. They do not defend their nests (death chambers), and will just fly away if disturbed. It is fun to watch the males fighting over the females in Summer.

I am reading about milkweed and noticed there are different kinds.
Leafhead comments on Apr 13, 2018:
There are many types of Milkweed and related genera throughout the world. It is important to note that Monarchs fare best and respond best to native Milkweed. You would be wise to Google species native to your area and stick with those. Caveat: Avoid so called Tropical Milkweed (Asclepias curassavica) if possible. It is a possible harbor for OE, a deadly parasite that causes gross deformity in adult Monarchs and Queens. If you must use it, wash it extra good with 10% bleach and rinse well. Avoid other Milkweeds that are not native in your region in general. Better safe than sorry.

I don't drink much anymore, but I do have a hangover story. When I was 16, a few buddies and I bought a bottle of MD 20/20 on Xmas Eve. My pals took off, and I ended up drinking 3/4 of the bottle! I ended up with mild alcohol poisoning, and a 3 day hangover! I had come out to all my friends, losing them, and was severely ill for three days. I didn't drink again for years!

Are there places you can purchase monarchs eggs and raise for release?
Leafhead comments on May 30, 2018:
A better plan would to purchase or collect Milkweed plants or seed and attract your own. You can purchase seeds and plugs thru Monarch Watch and other organizations. Results vary depending upon your surroundings but rule of thumb is the more (Milkweed) the merrier. Areas such as sterile "green deserts", the sprayed, manicured lawn, will not do for butterflies. The first act should be to swear off all pesticides. I like to involve neighbors as well to maximize coverage. If you live near a park or other green space, you will attract butterflies quicker.
