Leafhead replies on Sep 30, 2018:
@Heidi68 Neither can i! (titters) But it's going to be a long Winter before I see any mating among my lizards. They must undergo a period of brumation (metabolic slowness) before they'll breed. Spring and Summer are breeding seasons and I'm hoping for success with my Anoles, Long Tail Lizards and House Gekkos.

Leafhead replies on Sep 30, 2018:
It varies. Now I have them on a 12/12 day/night ratio. As I move closer to the end of October, I'll edge the ratio slowly to 11/13. As I reach Dec., I'll have them at 10/14, the height of their brumation period. Toward the end of December, I'll start back the other way. At the height of breeding season, the ratio will be more like 15/9 or even 16/8 before cycling again. Slight variations in Temps also play an important role

Leafhead replies on Sep 26, 2018:
@pixiedust Many subtropical lizards will need a period of shorter days and longer, cooler nights, as well as reduced feeding for a few weeks to months before breeding season. This period is known as Brumation, where the reptile slows down quite a bit but does not become torpid as in hibernation. Feeding slows to a near halt in some monitors. As the days get longer and warmer, breeding resumes and feeding increases.

Leafhead replies on Sep 25, 2018:
@pixiedust Cool. I kept those when I first moved up here. I managed to get them to breed once successfully. I have also kept larger lizards such as iguanas and monitors in Florida. I kept a variety of snakes too, mostly cornsnakes, Ball Pythons and a big albino Burmese python named Sam. I found good homes for them all before I moved. I wasn't one of those idiots releasing exotic reptiles into Florida's ecosystem. Thinking about dividing my lizards by species before breeding season for best results.

After a long bit of inaction, one finally began to explore and it was on! The Long Tails were all over the tank and had no fear of "Redneck", my male anole. No aggression from the Long Tails. After that, things calmed down, and the two species are settling in well. Red still waves his dewlap in defiance from time to time, but won't chance any funny business!

Greed speaks for itself, as our resources dwindle and waste increases. Greed is basically GIMME in an area which is unnecessary, usually at the expense of others and the environment. @AmiSue Our higher thinking will overcome our instinct to not trust others (territorialism), but we have to initiate it. We have the largest Cerebral Cortex of any Primate, and we can plot our own evolutionary destiny. We can either overcome rivalries and strive to work together, or we can let instinct rule and be complete idiots. (Bigotry, territorialism, tribalism)

Thanx. I made sure they had everything prior to their purchase. I like to use the very best of everything: gut loaded crickets, live plants and real rocks and soil. No toys. I don't like to schmaltz up an enclosure or aquarium with a lot of crap like fake plants and dinky-doinks

Got me some Green Anoles :) :) :)
Kodij comments on Sep 12, 2018:
I had some as pets before — “wore” them on my shirt. They were tame enough to just hang out (or climb into my hair). When I did it in Utah, people thought I was wearing a pin and were often shocked if the anole moved. In Louisiana, they just warned me that I had a lizard on my shirt.
Leafhead replies on Sep 13, 2018:
Yeah if you really work with them, they can be quite tame, but stressful nonetheless for the lizard. I am content to watch from outside the tank. Their antics are quite intriguing

Obama was the classiest of all our presidents, and you want him IMPRISONED? Obama didn't sell out to the fucking Russians. Obama was never in bed with Putin Obama brought class, discourse and civility to the Oval Office. Trump has brought a cloud of sleaze, crime and treason. He should be shot like the traitor he is

So beautiful and succulent. Looks good enough to eat. Where's the location of this flourishing? I'm just trying to keep my garden from burning up completely, in this desert we call Fontana, Ca.

It would do well there. This species hails from Africa, and benefits from shortening days for optimal bloom

17 years ago, to the very hour, America was attacked by an outside entity.

I have serious questions about it being an outside entity. Justice for those who died that day demands as complete an investigation as possible. https://geomccalip.bandcamp.com/track/tower-number-seven
