Do you have flat feet?
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 2, 2023:
Yes. When I was a child I was given all sorts of exercises to do three times a day, was forbidden to wear shoes but had to wear boots made of stiff leather ( to act as a brace) With at least 1.5" raised heels, no football boots or plimsolls (or trainers in later years). I basically spent my whole childhood walking downhill. It was a good week when I did not twist or sprain my ankles, and even today I have deformed first and last toes and ankle tendons because of these "treatments". I was turned down for Military service because of my "flat feet" among other problems. On the upside I can pick up things with my toes, hold and write with a pen or paint brush with my toes as well as button and unbutton fasteners. In my thirties I was told by my doctor all of it had been unnecessary, but had been standard practice at the time. Apparently I was born without arch muscles, a rare but not unknown condition that is completely harmless. Worse still in my forties I was diagnosed with dyspraxia, the symptoms of which had been blamed (or excused) by my "flat feet" for making me awkward, and for walking pigeon toed, which is why I had not been diagnosed earlier, and had gone through school with a reputation as a careless and clumsy, accident prone Klutz who "walked funny".
The hits just keep rolling over him..lololololololololol []

Could it have anything to do with Wali/waly, which I believe is a scots wail of lamentation? As in the old ballad Oh wali, wali, wali O waly, waly Anon. The water is wide, I cannot get o’er, And neither have I wings to fly. Give me a boat that will carry two, And both shall row, my love and I. O, down in the meadows the other day, A-gath’ring flowers both fine and gay, A-gath’ring flowers both red and blue, I little thought what love can do. I leaned my back up against some oak, Thinking that he was a trusty tree; But first he bended and then he broke, And so did my false love to me. A ship there is, and she sails the sea, She’s loaded deep as deep can be, But not so deep as the love I’m in: I know not if I sink or swim. O, love is handsome and love is fine, And love’s a jewel while it is new, But when it is old, it groweth cold, And fades away like morning dew.

LenHazell53 comments on May 22, 2023:
Among spiritualist an empathy is a person able to help diagnose illness, either by touching another person lightly on the shoulder or hand, they can sense where the pain or trouble is in the body of another person (or animal) by feeling a mimicking of the pain in their own body. For example one empath I knew was able to tell my father why his dog had become listless, and had lost its appetite simply by holding her hand over the animal. "Buster has toothache" she told us, sure enough when we took her to the vet and said we believed it was toothache he found a rotted tooth and extracted it, and good old buster was back to himself. Many good doctors, with reputations as brilliant diagnosticians either consciously or unconsciously have this gift of empathy, but tend to call it instinct.

Only one problem that everyone seems to have missed If you look closely all the participants in the photo are actually black people, look at the man on the rights neck, the child's legs and the woman on the right's hands. The photo actually comes from a Daytona high school prank from Halloween from last year where the pupils were asked to come as the scariest thing they could think of, so came as a KKK family, and were disciplined for it as being inappropriate. Now that is the scary bit.

A hag is today generally seen as an old woman, usually one of ugly aspect, especially in Europe, with versions of the word appearing in English, French, German, Greek and Dutch. However originally a Hag was one of the three witches heading a coven of 13 witches, typically, the maiden, the mother and the Crone (vitality, fecundity and wisdom), symbolisms of both the three stages of a woman's life and of the three headed Godess of the underworld Hekatē, queen of the dead and goddess of magic. The name of the godess mutated over time time to Hekkity, Haggity, Hægtes and eventually the simple Hag. In her form as the Vital maid, she was said to steal improperly stabled horses at night and ride them wildly across the moon lit country to satisfy her need for excitement, leaving the poor horse the next morn, sweaty and tired and unfit for work, hence Hag-ridden. The Latin version of Hekatē is Mara, from where we get the equine word Mare, and the term Nightmare, as she not only rides her stolen horse through the land, but through the dreams of the owner, terrifying them in their sleep.

The etymology is slightly more complex since the word boy until post ww1 did not mean a male child it was a variation on a Squire or a young servant. In the British empire days it was a common slang for any servant (or Slave) of any age who was not white. Girl similarly did not mean a female child it mean an infant of either sex, a Knave Boy being the formal expression of a male infant (who traditionally wore pink or white) or a Gay Girl for a female infant ( who traditionally was dressed in semblance of the Virgin Mary in dark blue) The word boy came from from Latin boia "a leg iron, a yoke, a leather collar or any other fetter used as a sign of servitude and so was often used for apprentices, trainees and for certain jobs (tea boy, house boy, stable boy etc) The use of Yob was therefore a runaway servant or slave, a disobedient, willful or uppity person who did not know their place. The literal inverse of a "good boy" During WW1 the male soldiers were referred to as the British boys (the servants of the nation) and by 1920s boy had become a slang word for young soldier and a pet name for all male children. Very quickly this spread over This is why in the USA calling a grown man a boy is still considered a grave insult as it was a synonym for slave.
