LenHazell53 comments on Jun 27, 2022:
There is only one way to stop it and that is a complete reform of the US (and the UK) education system, an end to mass deliberate under education, an end to ultra nationalist indoctrination and compulsory religion in schools, to be replaced with the implementation of critical thinking courses. The Abolition of private education and religiously funded schooling, a huge investment in to the state and federal secular education system and scholarships based on academic merit, not sporting prowess. Unfortunately such a plan is long term and will take at least 20 years for a significant impact to be felt and by that time the whole world is likely to be split in to a theocratic version of Orwell's 1984
Can anyone explain the logic of this?
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 26, 2022:

Prerogative noun a right, privilege, etc.
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 26, 2022:
From the Latin prorogare, literally "to ask publicly," but used colloquially to mean "to put to a vote" by committee (In imperial Rome a Porogare was voted on by 100 randomly selected senators chosen by lots) If you are a politician or a board member you have the Prerogative to place a motion before the board, committee or parliament. A opposed to a ***privilege*** which literally is a contraction of the words Private Legislation ( a law unto one's self) In British law the associated word prorogue also means the right for a legislative body or parliament to be shut down temporarily or permanently by the reigning monarch. Interestingly we also derive the word Rogue (a villain) is from the same root, the Latin rogare meaning "to ask." or to beg, or as a euphemism for to steal

The Liars Prayer By Dr. Chris Walmsley Oh Lord our father, all I ask Give me this day my daily mask For I can't stand this thing I am So, let me be another man. From out the sack I'll lose the cat When I admit the truth is that From films I've seen and books I've read Comes all I am and all I've said. So like an onion shedding skins I'll lose myself and all my sins Confession that will cleanse my soul Will leave me small but leave me whole. Here a man of my own making Naked, cold, alone and shaking Standing in the light revealing That for mercy I'm appealing. The cynic of the middling years This bitter age of scalding tears A time long past the bloom of youth Has in me burn’d the acid truth. For Love is not the answer to the question we all ask But envy is the face that hides Behind the golden masque. So Lord our father, all I ask Give me this day my daily mask For I cannot be this thing I am Let me become another man.

Capoeira noun a dance form incorporating martial arts elements, originating in what is now ...
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 21, 2022:
Incorrect, Capoeira was and is a martial art developed by slaves in Brazil in the 16th century. When the Brazilian government banned all martial arts among slaves (fearing rebellion) the slaves hid their training behind what they called folk dancing. Freed and escaped slaves spread the techniques all over South America allowing slaves to defend themselves and even stage rebellions. In 1888 slavery was banned in Brazil and the unique form of dance fighting reemerged as a legitimate martial art. It was incorporated in to MMA in the latter half of the 20th century and even developed a European offshoot known as gymkata in the 1950s, that mixed Capoeira with Olympic rhythmic gymnastics, however apart from a brief resurgence in 1985 when it featured in a feature film it never really took off in the west outside of Brazil. However elements of the street fighting French Martial art of Savate and elements of Capoeira were combined in to the Canadian Martial art of Panache using purely leaps and kicks.

First God makes the world and then drowns it, apart from one floating zoo. Abraham goes to Egypt and Moses gets lost coming home. Joshua invents demolition and genocide. Judges rule, Ruth gets married and Samuel creates Kings. Esther kicks ass and how God gambles on Job is Chronicled. Musical interlude. Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel lament going to Babylon, Daniel becomes a lion tamer. Loads of weird prophets moan a lot. Jesus is born, talks, does conjuring tricks, dies, comes back, goes away, so his friends write letters. John moves to Patmos, eats some magic mushrooms and sees the apocalypse. The End

Armed Man Arrested Near Brett Kavanaugh's House | Time
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 9, 2022:
Update from NBC News WASHINGTON — An armed man was arrested overnight near the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh ***after he called 911 on himself,*** law enforcement officials said Wednesday. Officials say the man, identified as ***Nicholas John Roske, 26,*** was armed with a handgun, a knife, pepper spray and burglary tools. He was stopped a block from the justice’s house. And when police detained him, he said he was there to kill Kavanaugh, the officials said. Deputy U.S. marshals spotted Roske — dressed in black and carrying a backpack and a suitcase — getting out of a cab in front of Kavanaugh's house shortly after 1 a.m. ET Wednesday, according to a criminal complaint. ***Roske looked at the officers and then started walking down the street and called 911 on himself, the complaint said.*** Officials said the man called 911 and said that he had homicidal thoughts, that he had traveled from California to attack the justice and that he had a gun in his suitcase. He said ***the gun was unloaded and in a locked case.*** Officials said the man is from Simi Valley. ***He was still on the phone with 911 when police showed up to arrest him, the complaint said.*** ***Asked whether he was thinking clearly and understood what was happening, Roske replied: “I think I have a reasonable understanding, but I wouldn’t say I’m thinking clearly.”*** Roske didn’t enter a plea to teh charge of attempted murder. He was order detained pending his next court appearance on June 22. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that President Joe Biden "condemns the actions of this individual in the strongest terms and is grateful to law enforcement for quickly taking him into custody." I ask where is this level of efficiency and caution when protecting schools!

Though there is a common consensus that the word comes from the medieval Dutch Harkbuse meaning a hooked cannon, ie. a portable cannon with a steadying hook, that could be attached to a wall, there is some credence given to the theory that Arquebus may originally have been a hybrid Greek/Latin word ( like Television) with the Greek Arkos "To defend" (hence Archer) being paired with the Latin Bus "For the purpose of" hence Arquebus "For the purpose of defense"

LenHazell53 comments on Jun 6, 2022:
The expression is "Promises are made to be broken" It comes from the title of a 19th century poem “Promises are like pie-crust – Made to be broken” By feminist Christina Rossetti (sister of painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti) The poem is a plea from one lover to another to not make promises in case they cannot be kept for reasons unknown or not yet revealed, but rather to commit to the moment and the future together, without thought for the past or past secrets and sins.

In Rhetoric a tautology is the trick of answering the question with the question in another form Descartes' ontological argument goes as follows: (1) Our idea of God is of a perfect being, (2) it is more perfect to exist than not to exist, (3) therefore, God must exist. Kant argued that If the proposition is analytic, as the ontological argument takes it to be, then the statement would be true only because of the meaning given to the words. Kant claims that this is merely a ***tautology*** and cannot say anything about reality In other words if God is defined as a perfect being then premise one is simply saying (1) If our idea of a perfect being is a perfect being we have tautology number 1 if existence is defined as a prerequisite of perfection the premise two states (2) That which exists is perfect, that which does not is not and we have tautology number 2 Premise three therefore states (3) The perfect being must be perfect or it would not exist Tautology number three Giving us the conversation (Q) Logically does a perfect god exists (A) A perfect God exists, because it is logical (given accepted theological values for the words god and perfect )

I wonder why Americans keep encouraging fuckwits to become their elected representatives, one day they will have no choice but just bring in the decorators and turn the capitol and the white house in to two maxi size padded cells.

The Arnold Schwarzenegger of his day. Personally my favourite Tarzan was Ron Ely, but Weissmuller invented the iconic Tarzan call, which is not in the original novels.
