The worst book (in my opinion) I have ever read and the book I have disliked the most are two different things. The worst book was a Sci-fi Novel called Mantis (AKA Eat Them Alive) by "Pierce Nace" Mr Nace as far as I am aware never wrote anything else again and that does not surprise me. 160 pages of a deformed lunatic, cover in shit (literally) using his platoon of giant praying Mantis to visit revenge on the Texas gangsters who cut off his willy for screwing them on a drug deal. It really is as bad as it sounds, and has the writing style of a petulant 5 year old fantasizing about what he wants to do to the kind in the playground who stole his lollipop. I have never seen the words "and then" used so many times per page. The Book I disliked the most was Dodger by Terry Pratchett, mostly because ti was disappointing, and tragic, written when he was very ill and one of his last works, it abandons his style all together, is not a discworld novel, is not funny and perhaps was a last ditch attempt at literature, but fails miserably (in my opinion) reading it was like watching a once brilliant friend, descend in to slow and undignified death.

Part of the problem is that though people stop attending church you cannot actually leave the Catholic Church. A few years ago, a chap in the UK petitioned the church to nullify his baptism and allow him to resign, it turned out the Church had no way to do this other than by excommunication. In the ensuing court battle the RCC was forced to hand over all documentation relating to him "IN THE UK" but could not be compelled to hand over Vatican records of his baptism etc. As far as the RCC is concerned once they've got you, you are their's for life. Apparently even Hitler was still a Catholic up to his death, just a very very bad catholic, who did the church a favour by committing suicide which is a Cardinal sin and ensures the perpetrator goes straight to hell, even though Hitler was never excommunicated (Pius the XII repeatedly refused, because he thought a miffed Hitler might bomb the Vatican)

I don't see the problem, in order for anyone to find you are a member here, they have to know the site exists, know your user name and be bothered enough to want to connect the two and even then all they are going to know is that you are agnostic, or associate with agnostics.

he Etymology may be unsure but it is easy to make a guess at Dun or Donn in various languages including Gaulish and English means Brown der is "Of the" in German and a few other Gaul derived languages and Funk from Old German/Gaulish funcho is to smoke or steam with a foul smell So literally Dunderfunk = Reminiscent of Brown Smelly Stuff ie. Dung or a Cow Pat

Even as a devout Christian I found the book of Job ludicrous. An all loving, all righteous God makes a BET with the Devil, allowing him to physically and psychologically torture an innocent man, to the point a despair and sickness, in order to prove that the man will not turn on his torturer. He allows the Devil to KILL Job's entire family, ruin his life and render him to be wracked in pain and sickness. BUT because Job is still a slave to his fear of god at the end of all this, god gives him a new wife and family, cures him and gives back his possessions, so that's all right then...Except for the people who are dead for the sake of this little ego trip. It is the epitome of deviant scriptural evil, utterly disgusting.

Could we admit that Buddhism is a religion where God is irrelevant?

Perhaps I might have agreed a few years ago, but with so many denominations of Buddhism now and the rise of extremist Buddhists in in Sri Lanka and other places, it seems to have gone down the same path as all the other "faiths".
