Oh yes, Young was a homicidal bastard and they know it, but since most of their major assets are name after the old see you next Tuesday they have to keep on slapping away with the white wash.
It is mainly because of his twaddle they had to disavow the JOD and not one single original teaching of Bring'em Young is still considered official church doctrine.
He is the weird creepy Uncle of Mormonism; the one you have to keep inviting to family gatherings, but hope he won't show up, or if he does has to be kept in a corner with his hands full and with cousin Knuckles keeping an eye on him.

Probably trying to disassociate themselves from some very silly doctrine and the fact that some dictionaries especially those published before 1980 still define Mormon simply as a polygamist

There is a strong and inherent need in people for justice, however not objective justice or real justice in any sense, a subjective personal justice, a sense of balance and fairness that no one else if having a better deal than you.
If I lack X in my life and you have X in abundance, I envy you and feel it is an unfair situation, if you therefore suffer from something unpleasant happening to you, that has not happened to me, at a subconscious level I feel the balance has been redressed and that life is fair and my lack of X will be consequently redressed by natural justice at some point as your abundance of X has been.
This leads to the extrapolated belief that if something bad happens to someone for no readily apparent reason it is deserved punishment for some past crime or injustice or punishment for something they will do in the future.
It is childish superstitious thinking with no basis in reality but fulfils a primal urge for life to be fair and for no one to have gotten the better of you.

I have cancer, I have faith it will go because god will protect me.
I still have cancer, my faith was not strong enough, because I went to the doctor as well.
I STILL have cancer and it is getting worse, probably because even when I stopped seeing the doctor I still kept taking my medicine because my faith in god is not total.
I stopped seeing the doctor, I stopped taking my meds, I pray every day, I really believe god will cure his good and faithful servant... I... I ...oh
He had cancer, and though he had great faith, the Lord gathered him unto himself, we therefore must have faith that the Lord knows what he is doing.

We live in a world analogous of the "emperor's new clothes" where all the honest little boys have been gagged and tailors have not only seized the throne, but have sold it and opened up the palace as a bingo hall.

me : How does an all knowing PERFECT GOD make a defective person and allow evil?
Theist: God has given us the gift of free will, we are created perfect but can choose to do evil?
Me : which makes us imperfect?
Theist: Of course.
Me : So Someone with evil in their heart is potentially evil and so cannot be perfect correct?
Theist: That's right (smug smile)
Me : Where did Evil come from?
Theist: What?
Me: If everything was created by God and comes from god where did evil come from.
Theist: Tut, evil did not COME from anywhere it is a choice made by people.
Me: So what makes Evil evil?
Theist: If a thing or action goes against god or his teachings it is evil
Me : I see so how did we know?
Theist: What?
Me: how did we know what was against the will of god?
Theist: SIGH it's in the bible
Me: So Adam and Eve had a bible?
Theist: No of course not they talked to god directly and he told them what not to do.
Me: So he explained evil to them?
Theist: Yes
Me: So God is potentially evil then?
Thesit; What?
Me: If he could explain it, he must have been able to understand it, so therefore he was potentially capable of doing it, which means he had evil in his heart and so was potentially evil.
Theist: NO, god is perfect, not evil at all, pure good.
Me: But they broke his rules and he got pissed at them, that's in the bible
Theist: NO, yes, no hang on, that was the devil, in the form of a snake, he tempted them.
Me; Who made the snake?
Theist: God did
Me: And the snake was evil?
Theist: yes
Me: So god made the snake who is the devil who is the epitome of Evil, the personification of evil, but god is totally good?
Theist: erm......
Me: How?
Theist: God works in mysterious ways, god's ways are not our ways, you're reading it out of context, FECK OFF heathen!!
I ask you, how in this day and age do educated, mature adult people still believe this blatant crap!

Behold the Man by Michael Moorcock tells the story of a fundamentalist Christian who travels back in time to meet Jesus, finds him unsatisfactory and too Jewish, so kills him and takes his place creating "proper" Christianity as God wants it to be. Even going so far as to have himself crucified. In the mean time the real Jesus has recovered from his injuries and and amnesia and finds himself the object of adoration and a messiahship he finds blasphemous, so runs away.
This novel is a masterpiece of allegorical fiction about just how people become obcessed with their own idea of how religion should be, having no respect for the the truth or of the origin.
There was an attempt to make a TV Twilight Zone episode of the story, but it was blocked until they changed the lead from Jesus to Elvis Presley. (the writing credit goes to a young George R.R. Martin and is called “The Once and Future King,” but is clearly a rewrite post dating Moorecock by 17 years.)

Interesting project, just shows you how religious people of all strains are willing to pay a lot of money for basically a stripped and decorated graveyard tree branch.

Come to think of it Iconoclast probably fits the bill nicely.

The only good thing about season 2 of space 1999 was the theme tune, they wrecked it, but since the series was a product of ITC interfering with the Gerry Anderson studios organisation in the first place it is understandable.
Truth of the matter is that Space 1999 was originally going to be a sequel to the fantastic 1970's show U.F.O. one of the most definitive pieces of Sci-Fi to come out of the UK ever, highly influential and powerfully written (if you have not seen it, do so)
U.F.O. 1999 was supposed to take place 20 years after the initial series, set entirely on Moonbase one from the original show, now Earths first line of defense against the savage human harvesting aliens.
Armed with a fleet of Eagle transporters and Hawk fighter/interceptors the series would have been great.
However the Italian co producers of the project and ITC entertainment wanted to cash in on the almost guaranteed upcoming hits Star Trek TMP and Star Wars and so wanted a space odyssey instead.
The whole program was quickly reworked and Mission Impossible stars Martin Landau & Barbara Bain brought in to appeal to the American market, the Hawk fighters were dropped (appearing in only one episode) the whole thing became anti-nuclear apocalyptic moralising.
Though moderately successful, it on the whole bombed and ITC dropped their Italian partners, brought in some American crew who had worked on Star Trek and dropped Barry Morse as Victor Bergman perhaps the most popular character in the show replacing him with Catherina von Schell (aka Catherine Schell) as cliche shape changing alien Maya, but other wise just reprising her role from Moon Zero 2.
It went down as well as Liberace on an oil rig, what people loved about the show was edited out, what they hated was bulled up and more added.
Blake's 7 on the other hand was something else.
Just as Doctor Who was supposed to be originally titled Doctor who? the BBC graphics department who charged by the character, left out the apostrophe turning the opening graphic in to Blakes7 to save money, the show was Launched to pacify ravenous Doctor Who fans, calm down Terry Nation (who was fighting for rights to the Daleks with the BBC) and go up against Space 1999.
Nation in typical fashion decided to completely reverse Star Trek and basically do Space Pirates on a stolen ship.
In this Universe the Federation are the bad guys, the rebels are useless, the eponymous hero was written out after series one, the main villain is a bitch and the hero is a thieving murderous bastard.
The sheer chemistry between Paul Darrow as Avon and Catherine Pierce as Servalan with comic relief from Michael Keating as Vila drove the show from season to season, a series of vocal performances from Peter Tuddenham gave every computer in...

great exchange.
I will admit that Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was the first Horror film I ever saw as a boy, with Boris Karloff as Jekyll and Hyde and he scared the living B'jesus out of me.

I HATE ( hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate ) dubbed films, the voices are always bad, inappropriate and usually by people dragged in off the street for the promise of a sandwich.

Freud tells her he will demonstrate, unbuttons his trousers and whips out his wedding tackle.
The Lady patient studies it for a moment and then light dawns.
"Oh I see," she exclaimed at last. "It's like a cock ... only smaller."

If it is a British Horror film, you've a better chance of dying first if you are a minor celebrity doing a cameo appearance so your name can appear on the poster.
In an Italian horror you should really be a catholic priest.

So I stayed but told them flat, I don't want to be involved, BUT they kept asking me things, soliciting my opinion.
So I let them have it with both barrels, paedophilia, polygamy, book of Abraham, teachings of Brigham Young, racist ban on black, blood atonement, Adam God doctrine, DNA, archaeology.
After half an hour the Utah mishie, screams at me, "Your not going to convert me, your not going to damage my faith, an starts baring his testimony over and over like a broken record, while weeping profusely.
The Irish Mishie companion, goes red with embarrassment and excuses them both, literally dragging his companion out of our house, one and only time I've known them leave without a prayer.
This incident set my wife on the path to leaving to, after a few months of reading on the net on the net and mumbling "they did WHAT? The bastards"" she too went apostate.

I'm afraid that when **any** group of people go to a public facility and expect special treatment, for rules to be set aside for them, to be allowed to ignore a dress code, and basically to demand privileges based only on their devotion to an ancient myth.
They **ARE** troublemakers

My current fun to watch animation is Last Space, surprisingly good.

by Len Hazell
Just when you think your day cannot get any worse, when you've got your first acting job in months and your car breaks down, when you break a heel on your last pair of heels and the cat decides to be sick in your flats; that... that is the day you nearly get run down in the street by a truck driven by an ass in a gorilla suit.
I got up, dusted down my tuchas, and marched up to the window.
“What in the Hell do you think you are doin'” I demanded.
He rolled his eyes a bit in what I assume was an act of contrition, but since those were the only bit of the real him showing, it was a pretty wild guess.
“ You Selena?” he asked in a muffled voice from under the mask.
“How'd you know my name?” I demanded.
The big ape then pulls off his own head and reveals himself. I'll be honest I seen worse, bit of a fuggly face, but smiling a big dumb good natured smile.
“Who's askin'” I demanded.
“ My name's George,” he said. “Phil asked me to come get you, said you got car trouble or somethink.”
Typical of the way my luck was running, I swore off movies, especially B-movies back in the forties, I'm stage now, legit theatre, but this wunderkind asks the old man for a favour and I get strong armed. Heart o'gold that's me, heart o' gold and at the end of the day a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks.
“Okay, I'm Selena, thanks for knocking me on my butt Cheater.”
Monkey boy grins and leans over to open the door for me. I tried to make a dignified show of going around the hood of the pick up to get in to what looked Noah's own pick up truck and sat down.
“Where we goin'?” I asked.
“Bronson Canyon.” he tells me wrenching the gears.
I sighed, no surprise there, every wannbe film hack who can point a camera films in Bronson Canyon, that pit can be anywhere from Arabia to the surface of the moon and has been.
I pulled the script out of my bag and took another look at it, MONSTER FROM MARS by Wyott Ordung, I read. There's a name to inspire confidence.
He looked over and grunted.
“That's been changed,” he told me.
“The whole script?” I asked.
“Nah,” he laughed. “Just the title, the flick is now called ROBOT MONSTER FROM OUTTER SPACE catchy huh?”
“Yeah, like lice.”
As if to agree George began scratching his hairy body suit.
“I'm the Robot Monster.” He declared proudly pounding his breast.
“You're dressed as a gorilla.” I pointed out.
He grinned that big lovable grin again but had the decency to blush a little.
“Yeah I know.” he replied. “It's my own suit, that's why I got the part. See Phil wanted a real robot, but like that costs a lot, so he has this brilliant idea and calls me.”
“So why isn't it called gorilla monster from outer space then?”
...

It is interesting to not though that while Bring'em Young is still honoured as the second prophet of the church, not one single, not any original teaching of Brigham Young is considered doctrine by the LDS anymore and most of his teachings if practiced at all (or even advocated) are considered grounds for excommunication.
The man was a foul, bigoted, murderous, syphilitic, horror of a human being, who was probably murdered in a conspiracy between three of his wives and his doctor to poison him by an overdose of arsenic.

I use self publishing only as a form of copyrighting, back in the old days I used to send a sealed and dated copy of my work to myself.
Didn't stop me getting ripped off, but since then I've been putting kindle copies live on Amazon.
I've sold a few but I don't actively market them.
