"People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life.
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 24, 2018:
If you as an individual can make the lives 7 people in he course of your life a little happier, you've done all right. If we a s a species can do this for one another things could get a little happier all round. Unfortunately as a species and as individuals, humans tend toward being arseholes both by chance and intent and worse tend to see being such as a virtue to be aspired to.

Trump is an advocate of the political doctrine of Problem, Reaction, Solution and oppression by common consent. When you want something controversial done that might harm your reputation you do the following PRODUCE a problem (real or fictitious it does not matter) PROVOKE a (knee Jerk) reaction (out of anger or preferably Fear) PROVIDE a solution (which of course was your actual original intent all along) It is a variation on oneupmanship, having your potential opponent do your dirty work for you and let them think it was their idea and you are just doing your job. Ignorance, fear and panic are the tools of the despot, the tyrant does not oppress unless he is asked to do do it, the trick is to make oppression seem like the preferable option. To convince the people the golden cage is there to keep THEM out, not to keep YOU in.

I have never understood this either, why would you fight so hard for acceptance in to an organisation that hates who and what you are, claims you are a crime against nature and twice in its own sacred texts condemns you to painful inhumane execution. In another group I previously belonged to, I was on speaking terms with a well known human rights and LBGTQ activist, who was knocking himself stupid to get back in to the LDS church, who had excommunicated him for his Homosexuality. I kept asking him why and he kept saying because he WAS A MORMON, a denomination that by definition despises gays people as one of their major selling points. Similar creatures have been reported in Cornwall, Ireland, New Zealand and Scandinavia so it could well be the loch is not it's permanent home. OR it could be a tourist stunt that has proven very profitable for a couple of centuries.

LenHazell53 comments on Jun 16, 2018:
-Many people throughout the world still believe in witches, and in many cases torture, exorcise them, jail then and kill them. The last witch trail in the UK was in 1954, witchcraft only ceased to be illegal in the USA in 1973 and in Australia it was repealed as a crime to tell fortunes in 1979. Islam still condemns witches and magic users in Saudi Arabia you can still be executed for it, in India it is the same as Hinduism also condemns witches, there are five other countries Christian and otherwise were witchcraft is a capital offence, In Romania it is a taxable and licensable occupation, Iran has laws forbidding witches from interfering in government and politics, it is not a capital offence but you can be imprisoned for it, it is illegal in almost every African country to be a witch and in the Central African republic flying a broomstick in a designated commercial airspace is an offence for which you can be imprisoned. Most Christian church denominations still acknowledge practising witchcraft as a forbidden activity, tantamount to apostasy and in many including Catholicism and Mormonism with be considered grounds for excommunication. The Torah acknowledges the existence of witches and forbids their presence in Hebrew communities. Other capital scriptural offence still proliferate all over the world, mostly to do with adultery, homosexuality and Blasphemy.

I don't feel guilty about the fact that five or 10 generations ago these people were slaves. It's just a fact of life, like the kid who gets infantile paralysis and has to wear braces so he can't play football with the rest of us. There's no doubt that 10 percent of the population is black, or colored, or whatever they want to call themselves; they certainly aren't Caucasian. I've directed two pictures and I gave the blacks their proper position. I had a black slave in The Alamo *John On Native Americans* I don’t feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them, Our so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.

Quotes on Academia by Boyd K. Packer. Apostle of the LDS Church former head of church History and education I have a hard time with historians because they idolize the truth. The truth is not uplifting; it destroys. Historians should tell only that part of the truth that is inspiring and uplifting. *Faithful History: Essays On Writing Mormon History, * Some things that are true are not very useful. [H]istorians who are Latter-day Saints write history as they were taught in graduate school, rather than as Mormons...That is not scholarship. (secular) History can be as misleading as gossip Teaching some things that are true, prematurely or at the wrong time, can invite sorrow and heartbreak. The Lord made it very clear that some things are to be taught selectively, . Those who have carefully purged their work of any religious faith in the name of academic freedom or so-called honesty ought not expect to be accommodated in their researches. *“The Mantle Is Far, Far Greater Than the Intellect,” Boyd K. LenHazell53 comments on Jun 14, 2018:
I had a good friend, we knew one another and worked together for 30 years, he died at the age of 52 under sad circumstance in a foreign country under circumstance I found pathetic taken to as a means of combatting loneliness and against my advice. Friendship is over rated, especially in an age where being someone's friend is measured by how much you will allow them to put on you, while expecting nothing at all back. Most friendships I know are the user and the used, I don't use people and I will not be used, I have more self respect. I have a lot of acquaintances we chat, share a drink, even bond a little, but I get no closer than that. I will do anyone a favour once, if when I ask a favour back they say no, then I am unavailable the next time too, even if I am not. Friendship among children is easy, friendship among young people is often a cause of tension and jealousy, friendship in adults is great but you are lucky if you find only one or two good friends in your whole life and luckier still if they don't shit all over you when something “better” comes along.

LenHazell53 comments on Jun 14, 2018:
The quote is not from any of Nietzsche's philosophical works it is from a letter to his sister, and is an encapsulation of his liking for Buddhist attitudes (though not the ideology) that life is suffering, but when understood suffering can be a source of will, the odd phrasing is because unlike Nietzsche himself his sister still held some Christian religious sensibilities which he chose to respect.

Why does there have to be a reason for everything? Is even asking the question paradoxical?
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 14, 2018:
It is a bastardisation of the law of cause and effect. Every effect has a cause and every cause is an effect. However using the word reason as a simile for "cause" can be easily equivocated by confusing the various meaning of "reason". Everything has a cause, but that cause may not necessarily be reasonable or have any reason other than it being the effect of something else.

That which is observed requires an observer in order to be observed and therefore exist, the observer requires an observer in order to exist and observe. Therefore self awareness of being is the root of everything, Awareness is observation Observation is measurement Measurement brings about existence (including time and space) Existence becomes aware The circle is complete. The most efficient way to achieve this is Sentient Life.

Committing suicide (that is actually killing yourself intentionally) is in my opinion a desperate action and though selfish is ultimately very brave act. *Attempting suicide with no real intention of actually dieing is a pathetic selfish cry for attention, done to take away from yourself the responsibility for dealing with your own problems and blame shifting. It impacts negatively on those around you and is the height of cowardice.* **Becoming suicidal, facing it, admitting you have a problem and seeking help either alone or with others is an act of unselfish bravery**

LenHazell53 comments on Jun 12, 2018:
I actually first came a cross "The Ghost and Mrs Muir" as a radio play, in the 1970's with James Robertson Justice as Captain Gregg, which lead me to find the film and as I have said before I watched it on the premise that George Sanders for me never made a bad film. I did watch the TV series later, and I'll be honest Edward Mulhare was an excellent Captain Gregg, though the writing and production was not up to much having come wholesale from the Doris day show, (Though the Waldman Brothers did write a couple of episodes before finding success writing the later Pink Panther films) and updating the setting was just a simple economy done for no other reason than to save money. The series was really a show piece for under rated comic genius Charles Nelson Reilly as Captain Gregg's foppish grand Nephew, but for me he will never be anyone but Hoodoo Voodoo in Lidsville.

Lindsay Anderson is the god daddy of the offbeat film, If, Britannia Hospital, Oh Lucky man, to name only three, but also look at the (early) films of Ken Russel However one film I would recommend to anyone looking for a work of surreal genius is The Ruling Class (1972)

Had Michael Crichton still been alive I doubt very much this series would ever have been made.
Watched "Dorian Gray" last night (the newer one) and enjoyed it.

Love The Picture of Dorien Grey 1945 version (I will watch anything with George Sanders in it ) and it is amazing to see Angela Landsbury so young. The New version is okay, but the original benefits from being in black and white, it gives it a timeless feeling appropriate to the subject matter. By the way did anyone ever notice that the picture when revealed in the 1945 version is the basis for the make up used for Father Jack in later episodes of "Father Ted"? Also I suggest you read "Family Portrait" by Graham Masterton, an interesting retelling of the story.
How many have seen this movie?

Yes, not a great Westerns fan though, apart from "High Noon" and "the singer not the song"

The Jews today refuse to believe that Jesus was the Christ or gods son.
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 10, 2018:
There is also a current theory, among some theologians, that Jesus was never actually a Jew at all, hence his being so willing to disregard tradition and teachings. If he existed he is widely credited as having been raised in Egypt until the age of twelve, and though there were Jewish settlements in Egypt they were not Orthodox, but were so called "mystery" sects, Gnostics, Essenes and Israelites (as opposed to the tribes of Judah and Benjamin alone). It is obvious from the scriptures themselves that Jesus was aware of other religions and even openly refers to Buddhist Prayer wheels so may well have been exposed to their teachings. Some even suggest that Jesus was a Hermetic, hence the the mention of three wise men at his birth being a Christian tradition even though it is not in the bible, Three wise men= Trismegistus as in Hermes Trismegistus the mythical ancient Egyptian mystic and scientist.

In Jerusalem alone at the time of the Supposed Jesus Christ there were two other messiahs, one was Jesus Barabbas a terrorist and the other was John the Baptists as the latest leader of a heretic Jewish sect . John who was considered such a political threat to both the Jews and he Romans that Flavius Josephus spends a whole chapter describing his life ministry and death by execution, where as he spends on one verse on Jesus and that is widely believed to be a forgery. Oddly the version of John in Josephus is very different from the version in the bible and where it does agree with the bible it is not in the gospels but in the Acts of the apostles where Simon Magus is named as John's successor and the leader of a flourishing protoreligion.

Hatred of gay people has it's roots in any religion, ideology, political movement or other organisation that relies in the long term on children being raised to be life long members, until recently gay people did not have children, therefore were not people farmers for these control freaks, so making them miserable and frightening people in to leading a life of lies was good for the cause.
Can you believe how many fucking churches there are?

The first time I ever saw this film, and experienced this climax, which is in itself effective, but in the context of the entire movie is mind blowing, I was raised to a whole other level of consciousness. Even if you don't agree with him, Chaplin is so impassioned, so powerful a speaker and such a charismatic character, you are compelled to listen to him, consider his words and start thinking,

A mix of Brainwashing and infant indoctrination by terror. It is hard to break out of it without help, especially when part of the indoctrination is to be indoctrinated at a VERY young age in to believing that even doubting the indoctrination will result in your burning in agony forever.
Any one into B movies ?
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 9, 2018:
Of course the definition of a B movie has changed over the years, originally it was a film never intended to be a main feature, just a supporting film, theses days when supporting features don't exist anymore it is any film with a low budget. The masters of the true B feature were guys like William Castle, Roger Corman, Dan Curtis, Albert and his son Charles Band, Bilson and DeMio. Today these are usually see as straight to video movies or cable TV movie, the best being Asylum Studios who on nothing budgets turn out some good old fashioned kick ass sci fi and fantasy.
