When I trained in retail management a few to many years ago, lesson one was never communicate in memos, the written word will always be given the worst possible interpretation. It is true, face to face you will get across 80 to 85% of your intended meaning when talking to a peer, less when talking to a stranger By telephone this drops to 40% across the board which is why efficient telephone operators, telemarketing and telephone customer service people need to be specially trained to raise this to 60- 65% but these days no longer are. By memo, with no cadences, no emphasis and no none verbal expression the comprehension factor drop to 0 - 25% unless you are a skilled writer and an experienced reader. my favourite experiment in this is the phrase I didn't steal grannies cake *I* didn't steal Granny's cake George did I *didn't* steal Granny's cake emphasise indignation I didn't *steal* Granny's cake I just sort of borrowed it I didn't steal *Granny's* cake I stole Grandad's and he stole Granny's I didn't steal Granny's *cake* I did steal her pension book though On first reading which would you have assumed?

DO ATHEISTS AND HUMANISTS HAVE SACRED VALUES?
LenHazell53 comments on Jul 16, 2018:
Scared as a word does not and cannot have have religious connotations, lexicographically it is a religious word. Sacred from Latin sacrare literally meaning to designate as religious or holy and therefore coming from the same root as sacramental and sacrosanct and sanctified it actually separates and designates something as religious or as holy and dedicated to a deity rather than secular. It is therefore completely impossible to an atheist to hold anything sacred, it is like asking how many corners can a circle have.

I don't understand having read that article from beginning to end, and having seen the facsimiles I can see no mention of race, the word black, ethnicity or anything else in the fliers. The only subcultural reference is Youth. However the petition itself in calling to have the flier withdrawn and apologised for, seems to imply several times that ALL gangs are made up of black youth, that all crime is a product of black gangs. In short if there is any supposed or construed racism here it is within the petition, not in the object of their displeasure. If I am under informed or have been misrepresented to, I would appreciate the rest of the data, but on the information presented, this would seem to be the case.

Reality of Deities
LenHazell53 comments on Jul 14, 2018:
If someone says to me the word Centaur I have a semiotic notion of the symbolic value of the word, I know the word exists and I know what it describes, but does not mean there is a half man, half horse creature doing his shopping and living a happy and productive life. Likewise the concept or idea of a god(s) can be real while in no way implying the existence of actual god(s).
Is there only one kind of truth; only one kind of reality?
LenHazell53 comments on Jul 14, 2018:
Sorry but this sort of wheedling, wordsmiths equivocation gets on my wick. "Emma Bovary died by suicide" is not truth or reality, it is a précis of an aspect of a work of fiction. The book/story Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert exists, that is reality, that is true and that is as far as the reality of it goes. Pro-literary or pro-filmic contextuality is just a device for coherent story telling, nothing more. Saying "inter-subjective entities have a kind of reality of their own" is basically the kind of deliberate mental masturbation that literary theorist come up with so that they can spend years publishing books disagreeing with one another and not having to get a real job, or even write real books. Baudrillard and Bloom were prime examples of this in the 80's and 90's much of their output was dedicated to stating how wrong the other was, but never really saying why, while Terry Eagleton stood ring side egging them on and writing books that took the piss out of both their arguments. Taking inspiration from a work of literature is undeniably something that happens, but is nothing more than that, inspiration. We as humans are bound by the limits of both our senses and our technology to define reality as that which can be directly or indirectly perceived, measured, observed and proven by quantifiable "real" evidence. There well maybe other aspects of reality outside of that range of perception, but until they can be perceived they are in effect irrelevant to us and should be treated as such. Even in some physicists wildest speculations upon the many worlds theory of quantum mechanics, the idea that some were in the vastness of the omni-verse/multiverse there is actually a world were Winnie the Pooh exists and lives in the 100 acre wood with his pals would boast such an almost infinite degree of improbability that the chance of such would be so negligible as to be to all intents and purposes impossible. "Nothing unreal exists" though from a ridiculous source is a quote worth remembering, and had it been taken as common wisdom a few thousand years ago, we would have probably avoided no end of bloodshed, horror and inhumanity in the name of unperceived (therefore unreal) and yet honoured and blindly followed objects of wishful thinking.

Once upon a toilet dreary, where I laboured, weak and weary, Waiting the relief of Senna's potion swallowed just before— While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my Bathroom door. “’Tis here occupied,” I muttered, “cease tapping on my Bathroom door— This I said and nothing more.” Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December; And each separate dying stomach gurgle wrought my belly sore. Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow From my drugs surcease of sorrow—from IBS I so deplore— For the rank and chilly porcelain midden between my bottom and the floor— may trap me here for evermore. And the rough, sad, rustling issue of the purple unused tissue Thrilled me—filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before; So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I sat repeating “’Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my Bathroom door— Some late visitor entreating entrance at my Bathroom door;— This it is and nothing more.” Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer, “Sir,” said I, “or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore; But the fact is I was crapping, and so rudely you came rapping, And unwelcome you came tapping, tapping at my Bathroom door, That I scarce believed I heard you”—banging on the bathroom door;— Silence then and nothing more. Deep into that silence listening, long I sat there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream below; But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token, And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, “Hello?” This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, “hello!”— Merely this and nothing more. Back into the Bathroom turning, all my bowels within me burning, Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before. “Surely,” said I, “surely this is something without manners; Go away, then, what the problem, and I my bolt did draw — Let my heart be still a moment and this excremental flaw;— ’Maybe trapped wind, nothing more!” Openly here I did stutter, when, with many a fart and flutter, I strained to hear, vain and craven as in the saintly days of yore; For the least dissonance made not he; not a minute stopped or stayed he; But, doubtless did this lord or lady, perched outside of my Bathroom door— Perched hand upon the brass door handle impatient for my Bathroom door— To open wide and nothing more. Knowing this one beguiling in my sad fancy evilly smiling, ...

Further since Krytonian sperm would be indestructible and immortal and would be able to fly, thus every woman who came in to contact with such a sperm would likely find themselves in a delicate condition for a few months at which point the first kick from hybrid human/super baby would likely fatally rupture a kidney, the wall of her womb or go crashing up in to the upper body and blow her head off.

Since that Knight (boom boom) the Roman catholic church has deemed Friday the 13th to be a night for the Heretic and sinner to beware the wrath of Gods Kingdom on Earth, the Vatican.
“The salvation of a civilization has to be predicated on a resurrection from the corruption of its...
LenHazell53 comments on Jul 13, 2018:
That statement is utterly evil. To begin with the uses of the words salvation, resurrection and corruption connote a neo-religious pseudo biblical authority to which it has no right or baring. The presupposition that any society or culture in question needs salvation is an assumption based upon the idea that something is inherently wrong with said culture in the first place this is of course a totally subjective view. Case in point both Islam and Christian cultures believe the other to be in error and in need of “salvation” from damnation. It is basically then an opinion to assert any “civilisation” is in need of “salvation” However even given that this is so to say said salvation “has to be predicated on” anything is again a matter of opinion and circumstance. The salvation of the dog from drowning in the river is predicated on a near infinite number of variables: can I swim? can the dog swim? how deep is the river? how strong is the current? what is the ambient temperature? do I want to save the dog? does the dog want to be saved?...etc In any given circumstance there is no “has to be predicated on” all that “has to be predicated on” is one person's chosen course of action. Opinion again. “a resurrection from the corruption of its language” The grammar here is appalling all one can do is first of make a guess at the implied meaning which might be “a resurrection of the language of the civilisation from corruption” This immediately makes the assumption that the language is a)corrupted and B) is therefore dead. I can think of no instance in history where even a dead language passed from use because of it being corrupted. This statement is in itself a bastardisation of Orwell's “new speak” in the novel 1984 the idea that to control the language is to control the populous and the civilisation, to limit language is to limit thought or at least the expression of thought. The rescue of this civilisation has to rest on the rewriting of the language for the culture to be born anew in the image of those who wish to control it? YUCK! Scary.

Strange too that in every picture of Joseph's nocturnal visits none of this is shown, and that Joseph claimed the "angel" who visited him was Named NEPHI until a few years later he changed his mind and said the Angel was called MORONI An 1842 The Times and Seasons Vol. III pp. 749, 753 a publication edited by Joseph Smith recounting the miraculous visitation says, "When I first looked upon him I was afraid, but the fear soon left me. He called me by name, and said unto me that he was a messenger sent from the presence of God to me, and that his name was Nephi. "Joseph Smith lived for two years after the name "Nephi" was printed in Times and Seasons and he never published a retraction. It was when Orson Pratt "published The Pearl of Great Price in 1878, that he removed the name of Nephi from the text entirely and inserted the name Moroni in its place" and so it has remained ever since. "Why do people so readily assume the worst about the motives of their fellow citizens?" Because experience tends to to teach everyone the hard lesson the hard way that most other people are a shower of bastards who will stab you in the back while smiling to your face. Therefore the safest default position is to assume the worst until proven otherwise. This is true across all cultures, because humans are inherently selfish, altruism appears as a genetic trait in time of crisis to preserve the species, but if it comes to saving the species or saving your personal genetic line, ME FIRST will always win out. Humanity has relied on this social superiority to survive and prosper, the rich need masses of poor to support them, self interest not altruism supports them in this, King, president, leader, priest, all titles because humans have children to support them in their old age, love binds them for survival not for any noble motive, being the dominator or the dominated is a way to survive. Hence class, or cast or "know your place!" This genetic and social conditioning is why communism always fails, we are not genetically prepositioned for equality. Either on a Macro or microcosmic level we need social inferiors first, superiors second and enemies third in order to make sense of life. Blessed is the pessimist for he shall never be disappointed, and will probably live quite a bit longer.

I'm assuming you mean the sort of situation where you meet someone, there is an immediate attraction and you cannot be in the same room together without ripping off all your clothes. The sort of relationship that is an intense fuckfest for a month or so, until you actually get so exhausted you start talking and then find that apart from sexual compatibility you have nothing in common and actually don't even like one another very much, the sex continues for a while but eventually even that fizzles out. That was pretty much my first marriage, six months of whahay followed by four and a half years of “ what the hell was I thinking? ” on both our parts.
The most important thing that I’ve learned through my relationships with women is that I’m a ...

One of my favourite stories about air travel is the case of a baptist minister on a plane to San Francisco, who spying a newly married gay couple sitting across the aisle and a few seats down, took umbridge. After the third time that one or the other of the happy couple kissed their partner before getting up for one reason or another, the good reverend gentleman could stand it no more. Approaching the couple he declared "Will you stop doing that! It is offensive and is upsetting your fellow passengers!" "Why?" he was asked. " Two folks of the same gender grouping kissing is not what god intended for our bodies, it is unnatural!" he blustered "You have noticed that we are flying?" came the smiling reply.

My Grandmother was very fond of a cut of meat she started to buy during world war two, when meat was rationed this was a welcome bit of beef to put in a stew. It was not till the 1970s that a butcher explained to her there was no call any more for Bull's Pizzle, because no one wanted to eat Cattle penis anymore. I think it was a week before she stopped retching.
Rejecting a banana.

One of the best moments of the last few years was Ray Comfort's face when he was was confronted with his famous "The Banana proves the existence of Intelligent design and God" video and told by a botanist that the banana is a cultivated product of Eugenics and does not exist in nature at all because it is sterile and can only be grown from cuttings. Hardly an appearance of Ray ComfyChair goes by now without some one coughing UH(bananas)choo in to their hankercheif.

I need to complain about my job a bit.
LenHazell53 comments on Jul 5, 2018:
It's not a mistake it is simple economics. I,000,000 employees don't get half their pay for 4 days, that money sits in the bank for 4 days has 4 days interest added to the capital. Do this once every two month can increase profitability by 10% per annum. Another trick is to apply late payment charges to every customer, 50 percent notice and have their fee refunded but the company garners the interest, 50% don't notice and pay anyway, win win situation. Creative capitalism in action.

I don't meet a lot of people in my age group that are Atheist/agnostic, are people too afraid to be ...
LenHazell53 comments on Jul 5, 2018:
Generation and nationality enter in to it a lot. In some countries declaring your atheism is a death sentence, in others it will endanger your career and social standing. In some countries people could not care less. In my generation it is still something to be discussed and contended about all be it on a fairly civilised basis. My son however is an atheist, and sees no reason to justify it. Asked why are you an atheist I will reply because I see no reason or evidence to indicate a god exists He will reply Because I am an adult and I'm not a fucking idiot. Grow up. When I engage in dialogue with Theist he says I am wasting my time talking to morons, I don't agree, but he and his social circle simply don't consider religion worth talking about, assume that one another are non believers and don't let it enter in to their lives. I feel in the UK at least, in fifty years most of his and the next generation will all simply disregard relgion completly, it take longer among the Jewish and Islamic communities, but even now I see a lot of Muslim young people only going to Friday prayer to kep their father's off their backs and for a quiet life, once that older generation goes they will probably be completely Anglicised. Among the UK Jewish community many of the Youngsters treat being a Jew as being a member of a club and the amount of people calling themselves Jewish Atheists is amazing.
So im watching Suicide Squad again.
LenHazell53 comments on Jul 5, 2018:
The two animated suicide squad movies are better, but "Hell to pay" would seem to back up your hypothesis. In the actual suicide squad movie though think US government = God Amanda Waller = metatron Master of the angels and devils Batman = Gabriel God's messenger Flag = Michael Commander of of god's army Joker = Satan Harley = Lilith (Mad first wife of Adam and later god of cot death) Deadshot = Angel of Death (Azrael or Sammael) Enchantress = Kali god of destruction Katana = Bishomonten god of just punishment Killer Croc = Sobec god of robbers

One of my favorite responses to the religious!
LenHazell53 comments on Jul 5, 2018:
The floating sky daddy watching has never really controlled the moral compass of anyone over the age of 10, that is why from about the second or third century churches introduced church courts, then what became inquisitions, torture chambers, heretic burning etc. Religion when given the chance will always resort to being Hell on Earth, they know a thumb screw is far more effective than the threat of hell hereafter for discouraging irreligious behaviour.
