Responsibility... What happened?
LenHazell53 comments on Jul 18, 2020:
Western society used to be based on a common consensus of rights and responsibilities, actions and consequences. Then came the 1980s and YUPPIE (Young upwardly-mobile Professional Person) mentality. Thatcher in the UK, Reagan in the US both preaching that greed was good, material things = success. The idea that you were a part of society contributing and receiving went out of the window replaced with the idea that society was a competition to be won by giving as little as possible and getting as much as possible. You no longer bought a house to be a home, you bought a house as an investment, you no longer took a job to do a job, you took a job to climb as high and fast as you could with no thoughts for you colleagues other than to push them aside as "losers" so that when you reach the captains chair you can take all you can and desert the scuttled ship leaving it to sink with all hands. Compassion became a weakness, kindness a foolishness, loyalty a nonsense to be given to no one but yourself and your immediate family (until such time as they become a threat). A whole generation of people were born in to or grew up in this mentality and grew up thinking it was normal to a generation of parents born in to the *Doctor Spock* school of parenting where "The child is always right" The first Result of which was two generations of greedy entitled children from upper and middle class homes who have no conception of responsibility, but think they know all their rights, which basically amount to *"Let this be the whole of the law do as thou wilt"* whose response to a crisis or an accident is to call a lawyer in case they can sue, who have no actual loyalty to anyone, who live by the doctrine of *win at all costs* and who despise any one they see as a looser (he worst social faux pas). The second result of which is a desperate and angry under class, who see their lives and position in society as *unfair* and so sublimate by taking what they feel they are owed rather than earning it because they have the assumed right to do so in a society where failure to do so will label them as losers, who find strength in guns or numbers and see crime violence and sport as their only exit in to the *real* world. In either case taking responsibility for anything you do is a luxury that can not be afforded, blame must always be shifted elsewhere because to be responsible is to to be wrong, to be wrong is to be a loser and to be a loser is not possible for a social winner.

Dear lifelong atheists, how do you see yourself within the universe?
LenHazell53 comments on Jul 16, 2020:
I am not a "life long" atheist but have been an atheist for many years now. I am a self awareness within an environment, my perception of which is limited by my reliance upon my sensory perceptions and on occasions the assistance of technology. I see no point in attempting to go beyond those perceptions except when something outside of the range of my perceptions can have a perceived consequence upon my well being or perceived physicality. I assume from my perceptions that I am part of a greater whole but I acknowledge that I may have been deceived in to thinking this. However since I am unable to prove that deception and since it's reality or unreality have no baring or consequence upon my continued existence I am content for it to remain an hypothesis.
Even agnostics have a belief system.
LenHazell53 comments on Jul 16, 2020:
This is why I dislike intensely the term agnostic, it is wishy washy, open to "fast and loose" interpretation and rarely is it actually used to mean what it etymologically represents. It is a fence sitting, hedge betting, cop out as far as I am concerned, likewise spirituality is a nonsense word that means whatever the speaker at that time wants it to means and immediately takes away a common frame of reference from any discussion being had. English is such a wonderfully diverse and precise language with words either inherent or co-opted to mean exactly what you want to say, but is 90% ignored 90% of the time for fear of actually making oneself understood or, as is more often the case, looking "to clever for your own good" as my mother was fond of saying.

LenHazell53 comments on Jul 15, 2020:
Forgiveness is simply a way of dealing with a hopeless situation If revenge will achieve nothing, if justice is unavailable, or if the original situation was actually born of no malicious intent and life must go on, forgive so your own life is not consumed by negativity. Forgive for your sake not theirs, but never, NEVER forget.

The interesting thing about the reverse images is that to a being living in such a universe, their thought patterns to would be reversed and so they would not know. Therefore theoretically we already might actually be in a universe that is proceeding forward toward the big bang, for ever & ever moving in to lesser and small more simple states that will eventually all compress in to one small ball of compressed matter that will invariably at some point push through the fabric of reality by virtue of it's own infinite mass, and cause the big bang elsewhere and begin the whole process of expansion and contraction over again.

Being is the natural state of affairs, however it is in constant flux, and in constant change, our omniverse is simply th current iteration.

LenHazell53 comments on Jul 9, 2020:
I see your point, but there is an inherent hypocrisy in people claiming to be religiously good people if they need to be threatened with Hell or cajoled with heaven in order to behave in that way. Many religious people are even then not good people, they use religion to feel superior and "in" the right circles. They pay only lip service to the principles of their faith and ignore them when expedient. An actual good person is good, they need no reward or threat to be so and sorry to say but most genuinely good people are not religious at all. This is especially so in Christianity, since when people actually take the time read the bible they find the teachings there in are for the most part terrible and the good bits come with exceptions and provisos. The real reason religion was created was for power, control and money, nothing else it was certainly not to be a moral guideline, it was not make people treat one another well because the first thing it does it teach you who it is okay to hate, unless they convert to believing the same thing you do. ANd you are wuite right we do NOT need some invisible entity to treat each other well and a lot of us have discovered the only people saying that are those benefiting from selling that Entity to silly people on a regular weekly babsis.

"Unfortunately they were than others that think it is OK to be in this group and make fun of other people’s beliefs." Of course it is okay to make fun of people's belief, either everything is open to mockery, or nothing is. Beliefs (especially silly ones) have no special place or status that exempts them from satire, thinking like that is what lead to the Charlie Hebdo murders and religious fanaticism generally. Just because someone joshes with you does not mean they do not respect you. I hope you take the time to read this before you block and report me, ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰

Merriam-Webster is pretty much a joke in all other English speaking countries other than the USA. When I was at school it was banned as being a source only of incorrect spelling, with the Oxford Dictionary (or at a push Collins) being the only acceptable and definitive source. Latterly as "American English" has become common place in the UK, some "alternate spellings" have been accepted in to the venerable old Oxford, however it will be a sad and sorry day and the absolute proof of dumbing down when utter stupidity such as "irregardless" is accepted as correct in those hallowed pages simple because it is popular. As the head of English at my school was fond of saying when as asked about "American English" "There is no American English, only good English and spelling mistakes"

If someone wants to change you, they don't want you, they want to turn you into something they want. Your own self respect should tell you that person is not worth having

the names are Russian and Ukrainian. The First names are all common but the surnames are either spelled incorrectly or are jokes. One of their names is that of a famous Soviet sniper during world war two, three other's name means locust and another means Rock Man and Tkachenko literally means weaves with a large penis
Today's Most Disgusting White People In Indiana of course.

Don't write this off too lightly, this is a filmed aimed at specific demographics, designed to play to fear, designed to play to nationalism disguised as patriotism and designed for a fourth grade reading level. Lots of movement, lots of noise and colour, adventurous sounding music. It is plain and simple rabble rousing. Fuckwits and Morons with be literally hypnotized and brain washed by it... and they can all vote...and there are an awful lot of them who want nothing better than the promise of a land were gun totting god'ol'boys can drink beer, carry a gun and have their pick of targets, be they "queers" or "blacks" or "Pinkos" or "una-merkin demonocrats", "Atheists" or just people who might be a bit suspect. And I pity the country that gives Trump a second term because if you do you will never be rid of him or his ilk and the Free Repulic of the United states will never be any of those things again.
