Hypocritical old fraud. The Vatican is one of the Richest nations on earth and has done precisely nothing to help these people. The Pope speaks out against populist rhetoric this time, only because he has learned his lesson from his predecessor Pious XII who not only spoke in favour of fascism, but made concordats with them and declared Hitler's Birthday a national holiday for Catholics. The abysmal depths to which this organisation of sadists, paedophiles, filth merchants and warmongers will sink is without limit.

Irony can often be a lot more deadly, for instance Jimi Heselden, owner of the Segway company, lost control of his Segway and drove it off a cliff during a safety demonstration Paul Walker the star of the Fast and the Furious films died while drag racing, he was not even driving, but was riding shotgun. Doctor Eugene Aserinsky famous for discovering REM sleep developed narcolepsy in later life and died after falling asleep at the wheel of his car Jim Fixx the father of recreational jogging and author of The Complete Book of Running, died of a heart attack while jogging he was 52 Franz Reichelt inventor of the Parachute died when he jumped off the Eiffel Tower wearing his new parachute suit which failed to deploy Tennessee Williams the play write was also a very sexually active homosexual and often boasted of having trained himself to have no gag reflex (I'll let your imagination fill in why) In 1983 he choked to death in his hotel room having accidentally dropped his eye dropper in his mouth while administering ocular medication, his lack of a gag reflex prevented his coughing it up and he choked to death. John Sedgwick, a Union Army general in the American Civil War and famous sharp shooter's last words were "No one could hit an elephant from this distance" just before being head shotted by a confederate sniper. Conversely Clement Vallandigham former Union senator, who defected to the south was renowned as a defense attorney who never lost a case. He died proving his client innocent. His defense was that the alleged victim had actually committed suicide. In demonstrating how this could have happened in open court, Vallandigham drew his own gun from his jacket instead of the murder weapon and shot himself dead, thus proving his case and securing an acquittal for his client. Fame seeking actress Lupe Vélez often claimed she want to be remembered forever, but most of her films were flops. She however attained world wide everlasting fame for the oft repeated tale of her death, a botched suicide attempt, that resulted in the marble seat of her toilet knocking her unconscious when it fell on her while she was vomiting up her overdose, and resulting in her being found next morning drowned in her own lavatory bowl

Just for the sake of pedantry Die Hard was an adaptation of Nothing Lasts Forever a 1979 novel by Roderick Thorp and is set on Christmas eve. It was a sequel to Thorpe's 1966 novel The Detective, the film version of which starred Frank Sinatra. Sinatra was offered the lead in Die Hard but turned it down. Ten other big name actors tuned down the film until Bruce Willis was offered the part. Willis insisted on a complete rewrite so as not to be compared to Frank, changing the name of the lead character and de-aging him by thirty odd years.

LenHazell53 comments on Nov 22, 2021:
Lych or Litch have only been used as a word for the undead since 1975 when it was included in dungeons and dragons as an alternative to Zombie because there was a legal dispute over the copyright status word Zombie owing to George Romero and John Russo suing one another over who owned the modern concept of the non voodoo "Zombie" (After night of the living dead which they both wrote) They both lost, though Russo did retain a copyright on "The Living Dead" title, hence all the other Romero films in the franchise simply using "The Dead" in his titles. (Russo only used it twice Return of the Living dead 1985 and Children of the living dead 2002, if you don't count his crap remake of the original film in 1990 in which he was given a producer credit) Lich was a shortened version of Lichama meaning a corporeal body literally meaning flesh coat. from the old Norse Lik=flesh and Hama= covering

LenHazell53 comments on Nov 13, 2021:
Mormonism has a real problem with inherent racism. Black people have only been allowed the priesthood in the LDS since 1979, when God changed his mind at the same time the federal government threatened the church with the loss of their tax except status if he did not. Also up until 1979 the only way a black person could get in to Mormon heaven was to have themselves sealed for all eternity in the temple to a white family, so they could be be their "servant" forever, those arrangement apparently still stand. Black Skin ("A skin of darkness") in the LDS was until the early 2000s considered an outward sign of a sinful or "less valorous" soul in the pre-mortal existence until god suddenly changed his mind again and decided that the early LDS prophets misinterpreted. The early teaching of the Prophets is still that faithfulness and good standing in the church WILL make black and brown people "White and delight-some" some thing now taught as metaphorical but for 200 year was taught as literal, in other words you can tithe yourself white. Interracial marriage is still unofficially frowned upon, though it is allowed in the church today, the words of former prophet Spencer W. Kimball still echo loud "When we declared them equal, we didn't mean we should start marrying them"

LenHazell53 comments on Nov 12, 2021:
Only when it is used as a co-opted English word In the original Japanese it is more nuanced, the literal meaning is place of degrees (of progress) and the colloquial understanding is "a place of the (chosen) way" Though a place of training for martial arts, sports or training there is also a spiritual connotation as in Nihonjin culture the training of the body is taught along side the associated philosophy of purpose and a code of honour. PARKY.
LenHazell53 comments on Nov 9, 2021:
From what I can gather originally Parricus was a Latin word meaning a designated area outside that was often fenced off, in time and in a number of languages Park or parque or parc became the word for any fenced off private or public area. A person designated to watch over and tend to a Park was a Park Keeper and this in time was shortened to Parkee or Parky. So to feel a bit parky meaning cold, is to be like someone who works outdoors in all weathers. A similar term is "Nippy" also meaning cold, this comes from the nick name of female employees of Lyons tea houses (or corner houses) in the late Victorian era up until WW2 the name came from their darting about quickly and nipping in and out of the kitchen. Nippys wore for the time VERY risque (and attractive) uniforms with a light cotton short sleeve blouse and a thin light calf (later knee) length skirt, black stockings and a doff cap, to avoid spillages damaging the cloth or the skirt being trod on. They were quite the "Hooters" of their day. Since many Lyons Tea Houses had outdoor seating and none of them were heated, so as to not encourage people to linger over their tea and cake, so the Nippys often complained of being cold in their thin work clothes. In time being cold as a nippy in winter began to mean chilly or parky.
