From what I can gather originally Parricus was a Latin word meaning a designated area outside that was often fenced off, in time and in a number of languages Park or parque or parc became the word for any fenced off private or public area. A person designated to watch over and tend to a Park was a Park Keeper and this in time was shortened to Parkee or Parky. So to feel a bit parky meaning cold, is to be like someone who works outdoors in all weathers. A similar term is "Nippy" also meaning cold, this comes from the nick name of female employees of Lyons tea houses (or corner houses) in the late Victorian era up until WW2 the name came from their darting about quickly and nipping in and out of the kitchen. Nippys wore for the time VERY risque (and attractive) uniforms with a light cotton short sleeve blouse and a thin light calf (later knee) length skirt, black stockings and a doff cap, to avoid spillages damaging the cloth or the skirt being trod on. They were quite the "Hooters" of their day. Since many Lyons Tea Houses had outdoor seating and none of them were heated, so as to not encourage people to linger over their tea and cake, so the Nippys often complained of being cold in their thin work clothes. In time being cold as a nippy in winter began to mean chilly or parky.

Umbra Latin for a shade, hence Umbrella something that gives a small amount of shade often seen as a sign of wealth and authority in ancient Rome. Overtaken by the new Latin word Parasol in the 16th century (Para defense, sol= sun) The Waterproof Umbrella "invented" in 1750 by Jonas Hathaway, who "discovered it" being used in Africa by tribal nobles during monsoons again as a sign of authority and brought the design back to London and made a fortune by reintroducing the old word as rain-umbrella.

According to Spike Milligan in his war memoirs something being Naff (meaning cheap and third rate) comes from the Army term Naafi: The Naafi or Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes is a company created by the British government on 9 December 1920 to run recreational establishments needed by the British Armed Forces, and to sell goods to servicemen and their families. In the 1958 film Carry on Sergeant Naff, was a name given to shoddy goods and poor food sold in the Naafi. As a swear word substitute it was created by the writing team of Dick Clement & Ian La Frenais for their 1974 British sitcom Porridge set in a prison. The BBC refused to allow any swearing on the show so Naff was substituted for Fuck and Nerk for bastard, after which it was generally accepted as a comic euphemism for "before the watershed" (9 pm) comedies and dramas

Vendetta noun any prolonged and bitter feud, rivalry, contention, or the like.
LenHazell53 comments on Nov 5, 2021:
Latin and modern Italian "vindicta" vengeance or revenge The word was popularized by popular speculative Victorian novelist Marie Corelli in her 1886 novel Vendetta, possibly the first slasher story ever written. A married Italian woman employs her lover his brother and a friend to trick her husband in to accompanying them out in to a forest in the dead of night, where they fake an accident and when the husband goes to aid the unfortunate, they bludgeon him and bury his body immediately and unexamined claiming he died in the cholera epidemic of 1884 in order to inherit his wealth. However the husband does not die, is rescued by a hermit and nursed back to health for five years. With his hair turned white from shock, his face disfigured by the beating and his voice changed by pneumonia, he begins stalking and killing his murders one by one.

Bellwether noun a person or thing that shows the existence or direction of a trend.
LenHazell53 comments on Nov 4, 2021:
In ancient British a wether was a male sheep. The male was often fixed with a bell around it's neck so that even at night the other sheep could follow him and shepherds could locate them. Male sheep = Wether (later a castrated male sheep or goat, equivalent to a bullock in cows) Female sheep = dams Infant sheep = wiþrus/withrus Therefore a Bellwether was the flock leader ram trained by a shepherd to keep the ewes in order when flocking before the advent of sheep dogs.

Jacques Lacan used the concept of the Imago for his theory of the "mirror stage" in child development psychology. The theory in simplistic terms is that when an infant becomes self aware, either it's own image in a mirror or in his or her own mind, becomes an ideal to which the onlooker aspires to emulate and surpass. A vain ambition that can never be fulfilled since the child in the mirror will always seem to be progressing ahead of the observer.
I think that this is sometimes real instead of a cartoon.
LenHazell53 comments on Nov 3, 2021:
Certainly true about Mormons, I know four ex-mo bishops, all of them claimed that once you reach the level of bishop it is explained in vague terms to you that the whole church is basically a "Well meaning" con, but that the church being a "good thing" it is worth keeping up the pretense. Those who are willing to go along with that are expected to make the church their career, progressing to stake level, area 70s and eventually general authority (though it is worth noting that only one person who was not a geriatric, white male, born and raised in the United states has ever made it to 1st presidency level and he was a blond haired blue eyed German air force colonel). Those who are not willing to go along with the con are asked to make an oath of secrecy or these days sign a NDA and either step down as Bishop and remain a member or leave the church all together. However one chap I know did make it all the way to being a member of the first 70 and so went through second anointing (Mormon super baptism) which once given forgives all sins including those you have not even committed yet, guarantees you a place in Mormon third heaven (the bestest of the best heavens) and makes you "immune" from excommunication. So when he did go apostate and anti-mo the church was stuck with him and when he refused to resign tried to change the rules. However other second anointed apostles refused to allow the change in case it effected them directly.

This what happens when facts are replaced with feelings? We are continually told People are entitled to, freedom of speech and expression, their own opinions, beliefs, and those rights should be respected NO! NOT WHEN an opinion is a lie that the speaker happens to want to be true, a belief is not an expedient lie some one wants to benefit from. Free speech is not a cover for criminal confidence tricks, freedom of expression does not cover insurrection and political and religious malfeasance What is said and done is only worthy of respect if it is respectable What has been forgotten by the people is that freedom is theirs for protection of truth, of positively of the greater good and for protection from exploitation, oppression and the devaluation of life. When freedom is used to exploit and to harm it is no longer freedom, it dirties freedom as a word and corrupts the concept, making freedom seem a bad thing, something to be done away with for a better tomorrow. When freedom is taken away the ONLY alternative is Oppression. AMERICAN, THE UK, THE WORLD, NEEDS TO REMEMBER THIS! They need to see this is what they have sleep walked in to. Freedom is not all things to all people, it is to be earned and to be used for the good by the good as defined by the results of positive action. Nonetheless it also still needs to be vigilantly guarded and protected, not given out willy nilly like the poison candy from a perverts pocket in a school yard meant to lure in and corrupt the innocent, gullible and well meaning.

Your definition of Naive Realism is verging on Solipsism. I might argue that Naive Realism does not claim the universe is exactly as you perceive it, but rather posits that reality may as well be exactly as it is generally perceived, since without supplementary aids our senses are our only way of perceiving reality and judging it or extrapolating its effects upon us. Even with our supplementary equipment, we can only perceive a translated and simplified version of the reality outside of our range of perceptions. For example we cannot see Ultraviolet light, but can feel and observe it's effects on out skin, like wise we cannot see wind, but can see it's effects upon smoke, dust or leaves and feel it's effects upon us.
