Well according to Christian especially Catholic doctrine Jesus, God and the Angels (as well as your dead ancestors) watch doing everything anyway. That includes defecating, masturbating, coitus etc. This rather indicates that the Holy Trinity, dead people and their servant run the entire society of the after life on voyeurism, and that to true punishment of Hell is having permission to indulge your perverted desires disconnected.

From Old French Tervaganth, a Gallic interpretation of the Latin terra vagus a vulgate translation of the Hebrew myth of the Earth Wanderer, or wandering Jew. Originally applied to the Son of Adam Cain cursed to forever wander the earth for the sin of bringing murder and fratricide in to the world, it later became attached in Chrisitian myth to Judas Iscariot who's betray of Christ left no place for him in Heaven or Hell. The association with women came later when it was applied to both Eve and Lilith the wives of Adam and the bringers of misery in to the world whose nagging of Adam in to disobedience resulted in the expulsion (of man) from paradise.

LenHazell53 comments on Sep 23, 2021:
A French pronunciation of the German word Knödel meaning dumpling which in itself is a Deutsche rending of the Asian Noodle. It is also a euphemism for a suppository, owing to it's similar shape. French comedian Dieudonné M'bala M'bala used the gesture originally as a fictional salute used by early 20th century secularist in a comedy sketch and was meant to represent secularists shared suffering of the catholic church's fondness for shoving hot pokers and other things up the bottoms of those who opposed them during the inquisition, in his sketch it is copied from a dolphin who is being forced to convert to catholicism. Ironically it was the Jews themselves who made a public outcry about M'bala M'bala's gesture claiming it was an "Inverted Nazi Salute" that lead to the Anti-zionist party of France adopting it as their salutation before being its being co-opted by the French National front as a generally anti-Semitic one. As Father Ted might say Feckin' Quenelle The word has no connection with the French homophone Quinella which is a form of five aside football, and in horse racing a five race bet placed on a jockey rather than a horse.

The Chinese, Japanese and the Russian (later soviet) empires were in an almost continuous state of war between 1895 and 1945, often with civil wars and revolutions going on at the same time within their individual borders. Much of it a hold over from the opium wars of 1839–1842 and 1856–1860 and the Taiping Rebellion 1850-1864 and Dungan Revolt 1862–1877 that lead to irresponsible British and French interference in the Asian trade, the weakening of the Qing dynasty and the Chinese imperial government making opportunist war almost inevitable.

The populations of the USA to some degree and the UK to a much greater one have somnambulated in to oppression by common consent. The technique is simple and follows a political doctrine that dates back to the days of monarchy. You create a problem, provoke a reaction and then offer a solution that while being unthinkable in "normal" times is preferable to the threatened consequence of doing nothing. Do it correctly and people will beg you to take away their freedoms in order to feel safe from a non-existent threat. Look for instance at the burning of the reichstag, almost certainly carried out by the German Nazi party, but blamed on Jewish/communist revolutionaries and whipped up in to a frenzied witch hunt, the result? A populist movement demanding the suspension of civil liberties, he founding of what would become the SS and a mass misconception that "Our way of life" is under threat from a communist, Jewish conspiracy thats needed to be stamped out for the sake of freedom and the return of such freedoms as had been necessarily taken away. Within a year Hitler had become chancellor without an election and the decree of dictatorship had been enacted.

A complex word with a complicated history. It had all but passed out of use altogether until Science Fiction legend Alfred Bester used it as a word for Teleportation in his series of intergalactic travel novels beginning with " The Stars My Destination (1956)". Since when it has become common place in works by the likes of Stephen King and Roger Price. The word is an English derivation of "gentil" Old French for "a noble". In the Tradion of the Nobility the young "Gentil homme" would in early adulthood venture out on the "Grande Tour" a right of passage that involved traveling throughout Europe to become familiar with "Real life". The partaker in the "Grande Tour" was known as a Gentee, pronounced in English as Jaunty. In time a Jaunt became a short trip of any sort and a Jaunty man was some one dressed for travel and glamorous clothes. Hence a Jaunting Car, a pleasure carriage, later in the USA changed to Jalopy

People forget how the raised arm salute was very common prior to its adoption by the German Nazi party. It was believed (incorrectly) to be the salutation of the Roman Empire, thank mainly to a few painters of the Italian renascence period. The same can be said for the hakenkreuz which was used in heraldry as a symbol for light, in Hinduism as a sun sign and in the Catholic Church as the symbol of St. Michael. Until that is Hitler made it his flag, and the British propaganda machine renamed it from the hakenkreuz (hooked cross) to the Swastika (A Sanskrit mystic's word "svastika" meaning luck or fortune in the sense of an omen or a prophesy) to make it sound more evil.

Ah yes general Pinochet, Lovable terrorist, war criminal, genocidal maniac He who to the eternal shame of all English people was given safe harbour in the UK by the late and unlamented turd in knickers Margaret Thatcher, who described him as "A hero of democracy" and "A dear old friend and Ally" and had her own doctor certify him as unfit to stand trial in Spain for crimes against humanity, before she smuggled him out of the country back to Chile where he miraculously recovered from vascular dementia. Until that is until 2002 when he was due to stand trial again for instigating and ordering the deaths of 75 political opponents in the so called "Caravan of Death" atrocity. On 25 November 2006 his 91st birthday, having again undergone yet another miraculous recovery from terminal vascular dementia Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte, emeritus general and emeritus Senator, Issued a statement declaring how proud he was of ALL he had done, how he regretted nothing and how grateful Chile should be to him for all of his atrocities. He was immediately placed under house arrest again. However on the morning of 10 December 2006 suffered an expected heart attack and had all charges quashed on compassionate grounds by the Chilean government, a pardon issued and his arrest lifted. He died later that day in a military hospital with his whole family in attendance. He was not granted a state funeral (an honor normally bestowed upon past presidents of Chile) but was buried with full military honours in a funeral for their former commander-in-chief by the Army. He was granted last rites by the Catholic church and a religious presence at his funeral, and his cremated remains we taken away to a secret location. Burial was denied him because of threats of vandalism to any tomb or grave from all over the world.

I worked in the passive fire protection side of construction for many years, as an office manager. I eventually came to the conclusion that many (by no means all) of the people working in construction only do so because they are to stupid not to. The push to cut costs and actual time working by the employers in order to keep estimates down lead to dreadful working conditions, low pay, corner cutting, ludicrous health and safety violations and a reliance on sub par workers who will put up with slave like treatment just to pocket a few extra quid dodgey bonus money. One guy almost lost an eye thanks to not wearing double glazed safety googles when a drill bit snapped off and and went straight through the cheap replacements he had bought himself from poundland, having lost his company issue goggles and being afraid to admit it and have to pay the £15 replacement cost. Another occasion saw me having to call the police to remove from site a sprayer turn up for work on Monday morning having been taken off site in an ambulance on Friday because he suffered a severe stroke. He had discharged himself from hospital claiming he could not afford to lose a days pay, even though he was crippled all down one side and and had used a crutch to operate the brake of his car to get to site. In order to go on to site myself I had to complete a CSCS course (Construction Skills Certification scheme) in on site health and safety and appropriate behavior. I assumed the course would be detailed and explanatory. It basically amount to a list of things not to do unless you want to die a horrible and gruesome death. One question I particularly recall was to do with what to do if working a height was impossible because of a delay in the arrival of a cherry picker. The options were A)Wait until it arrives B) Have some one lift you up on the prongs of a fork lift C) pull up a van close to the work area and stand on the roof Amazingly some people got it wrong, however since the pass mark is only 45% this did not really matter that much I suppose. When I scored 100% because I knew not to drink petrol or pain thinners (another question) the administrator call me a clever dick and asked me "what the fuck I was doing there." I had one woman work for us on one occasion, as a sprayer. She left after a week claiming "being around so many arseholes is melting my brain." her name was Pam and the last I heard was she was managing a delivery depot in Middlesbrough. I never saw a women's convenience on site other than in the office because it was according to one project manager I met "Too fucking posh." to have more than one.

It is a matter of record that had the two towers not come down on Sept 11th 2001 they would have had to have been closed shortly thereafter anyway as they where riddled with massive ( millions of tons) amounts of asbestos used in their original construction, the use of which was about to become completely illegal in building used as places of employment in the federal United States. The cost of replacing the the asbestos in the towers was estimated to run in to tens of billions of dollars, and like wise the cost of demolishing the towers safely with that much toxic material in them would have been equally expensive. The plan therefore was to simply abandon them and leave than as concrete sealed monuments, from 2005 onward. When the towers did come down clouds of asbestos flooded the surrounding areas causing massive outbreaks of asbestoses. A second toxic dust cloud was sent up weeks later during the clean up operation, and again intermittently over the following decade, as ground zero was cleared. This is not conspiracy theory, there is no assignment of blame or accusations of cover ups, these are simple verifiable (but largely ignored) facts.

LenHazell53 comments on Sep 10, 2021:
There is no such thing as a free country. Each country tolerates certain cultural freedoms concomitant with tradition and expediency for as long as it is expedient to do so, when it is no longer expedient "freedom to" is transposed with the need for "freedom from" until a new status quo is established. Most freedoms are allowed in order to facilitate fear in the general populous, division in the political system and the desire in the people to be oppressed for their own perceived good. *Oppression by common consent* has been the accepted tool of the right since the end of WW2, you don't need a totalitarian government if you can persuade the electorate TO demand and vote for laws against their own interests. "Woke" society is the latest example of this, when every thing you say can be made to seem offensive, the only freedom left to you is the right to remain silent (and even exercising that right is a bit suspect, because who knows what you are NOT saying).

OH dear Robert Bridge is the master of the false analogy is he not? Kesey’s ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ is obviously well beyond him for a start. Unlike those who have read and actually understood the book, not just quote mined it as Mr Bridges has done while for the most part relying on his knowledge of the film, he would know the metaphor does not stand up in the context he is using it. The book is told from the POV of a mentally deranged man "Chief" Bromden, in whose mind, the complete sociopath McMurphy, is some kind of messianic saviour. When Nurse Ratched as the Chief sees it, "Tortures" the patients, she is actually protecting and caring for them. Trapped in an under funded, short staffed Hell Hole of an institution she alone is doing her best. She is the only one who does care and is the only one who actually not only believes but also can diagnose that Randall is NOT faking it, that he is insane. She knows he is a danger to himself and others and is protecting him, a kindness he repays by assaulting her sexually and trying to kill her. She knows were Randall to be sent back to prison he would be dead in a week, and that he must be controlled for his own good. Unfortunately, while she is away recovering her "superiors" lobotomise Randall as a punishment, driving the Chief to escape and run riot. Like wise the forcible administration of drugs to a certified mental incompetent and dangerous psychopath for his and the protection of others sake, is in no way comparable to mandatory vaccination of ordinary people, who should have the mental competence and social responsibility to in fact demand that they be vaccinated en mass for the good of all. As Nurse Ratched so rightly says, if adults will not behave like adults, then there is no choice but to treat them like children, and protect them and others from their imbecilic behaviour, for the greater good.

When I was at university there was a trend for talking about "textual Catharsis" projecting your emotions on to your close reading of the text in order to purge them from yourself. It got so bad among the structuralists, postmodernist and deconstructivist that one of our lecturers in print journalism (an Australian chap named Phil Elliot) announced before assigning a project that if the word catharsis appeared in any essay by anyone during the entire term he was going to stick the collected works of Jacques Derrida up into an area of the perpetrator "where the sun don't shine".

You too can learn to laugh? Amazon's woke Cinderella?
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 6, 2021:
Mr McCaffrey's review is filled with fear, so much so that you can practically smell him shitting his pants as he hunches over his tripe writer screaming to keep the nasty wimmins away from his withered scrote sack. I saw the "Cinderella" remake yesterday, my (lesbian, married) niece asked to watch it with her wife while visiting. It's okay, not good, not bad, bright and colourful, little kids will love it. All that is different from any other version of Cinders that I have seen on stage, screen or TV is that the prince does not want to be king he just wants to be free to marry someone he loves rather than be ordered to marry for political expedience (How toxic is that shock horror, oh hang on isn't that from teh original story?). Cinderella herself wants to be allowed to prove herself capable rather than just to be married off for a dowry or used as a slave (Again isn't that from the original story too?). So the happy ever after is different from the usual one in that she saves him rather than the other way around. Very Buffy the vampire slayer. The whole film is stolen by Maddie Baillio as Malvolia and Charlotte Spencer as Narissa the step sisters who are genuinely funny and act as the comic relief throughout in parts obviously meant to be a knock off Kirsten Wigg and Mellissa McCarthy who would have stunk up the screen unlike these two ladies who shine.

VIRAGO.
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 5, 2021:
Oddly virago is a Latin term that means "thanks to man" in the sense of a respectful impersonation vir=man ago=thanked Later of course it became derogatory, assigning "inappropriate" male traits to a woman, such as being an arsehole, being bad tempered and a bully. All traits that apparently are not only acceptable but admirable in the male, for some "odd" reason.
What a good idea? Bette Middler advocates women withhold sex.
