There is a big difference between simply being depressed and suffering manic depression, these days more often diagnosed as bi-polar disorder. I am old enough to have been diagnosed with both titles. The most terrible part of bi-polar is that when you go so low, you know just how far you have fallen from the false joys of a manic high.
