I recall a similar case a few years back when an employee at and Amazon warehouse was fired because he refused to wear his ID badge because his employee number was 666 and as a Christian he refused to be "Branded" with the number of the beast. He was of course fired and took Amazon to an unfair dismissal tribunal, needless to say he lost and became a national laughing stock when his story made all the tabloids. This seems to be a major difference between the UK and the USA when it comes to religion (or at least Christianity) we are willing to point and laugh at utter stupidity, where as the Americans can always find another influential idiot to back them up.

LenHazell53 comments on Sep 3, 2019:
Another unfortunate victim of "The Conqueror" 1956. The film Starring John Wayne as Genghis Khan had no end of problems from start to finnish, unfortunate a large portion of the Movie was filmed in Mexican desert previously used for atomic bomb testing, then in an attempt at continuity tons of the same radioactive sand was shipped back to Hollywood back lots for use in reshoots. As a consequence within 20 years EVERYONE involved in the film died of radiation related cancer, leukemia, or simple radiation poisoning. The victims ran in to hundreds including Wayne himself and Agnes Moorehead not to mention literally hundred of Mexican soldiers drafted in as extras and Navajo tribesmen used as Mongol extras because they "looked foreign". On top of everything else the film cost so much to make and lost so much money that it bankrupted RKO pictures and so when claims for compensation started to role in from the sick and dying there was no one to litigate against.
DISTAFF.
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 3, 2019:
Clotho the eldest of the three fates spun out the thread of a man's life on her distaff, her sister Lachesis wove it into a life and then Atropos cut it off when all was complete. Hence the life of a man being symboled as the distaff, the spindle and the shears. Clotho also used her distaff to assist Mercury/Hermes to write out the first alphabet.

Is there phenomenology without a self?
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 2, 2019:
In my opinion experience requires observation and or measurement. This in turn requires sentience or a sentient being to perform the observation and or measurement. A sense of self or consciousness is a prerequisite of sentience in beings of higher intelligence therefore phenomenology requires a basic frame of reference between the observed and the observer and that in reductionist terms boils down to "I am" and "that is".

Rob Reiner, Carroll O'Connor, Joe Epperson, and Jean Stapleton on the All in the Family set in ...
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 1, 2019:
All in the Family was an American remake of the British show "Till death do us Part" which continued in one form or another until the early 2000s Originally a parody of racist, sexist, hateful stereotypes working man "Alf Garnett" lived in the east end of London with his progressive adult daughter, simple loving wife and continually unemployed son in law, with whom he could never bond owing to the boy not being from London but instead being a "Scouse Git" it followed Alf through middle age, old age, retirement, bereavement and to some extent enlightenment. Writer Johnny Speight was appauled in the eighties to discover that "Alf" was being seen as a hero to the right wing racists and bigots he had originally set out to parody and set about reforming his creation The final series saw widowed Alf living alone in a flat in modern London having lost almost everything and his only "friends" being a local Indian shop keeper who hates pakistani's as much as Alf does, a retired Jewish man he knows from his days on the docs and a bullying catholic Irish neighbour woman who sees him as a source of free DIY. As these characters one by one pass away alf finds himself being cared for by his young black gay social worker Winston, who he gradually and reluctantly comes to accept is the only only person in the world who cares about his well being enough to not let him simply die or be put in an old folks home. The last episode has Alf take in Winston as a lodger along with with white partner after both their parents disown them on racist grounds. Writer Johnny Speight's death in July 1998 brought an end to any further episodes as Warren Mitchell who played Alf for over 40 years refused to countenance another writer taking over scripting duties, but instead toured for many years in Speight's own stage play "Thoughts of chairman Alf" until his own death in 2015.

LenHazell53 comments on Aug 30, 2019:
The problem with such semiotics is that quite often a group of one delineation or another take symbols and alter or even reverse their meanings, while allowing the original meaning to remain. The swastika for example in German Christianity was know as the Hakenkreuz and was an heraldic symbol and one of the emblems of St.Michael, in Sanskrit and Hinduism it is the sign for the sun. So today the original meanings has been lost and temples and churches have been vandalized and accused of right wing sympathies. Above of course one cans see the Celtic Cross, examples of which are found all over Europe dating back literally thousands of years, with no National socialist allusion at all. Seeing as how Trump who is right wing and a nazi group used a Lion in star spangled circle as their logo in nationalist colours one can conclude Trump is affiliating himself with said group, or one can conclude that both used clip art to create a pseudo patriotic symbol that also smacks of Hollywood glamour by combining elements of MGM and Paramount pictures logo's to spark a subconscious familiarity trigger

This proroguing is a perfectly normal parliamentary procedure during Party conference season, the closing of parliament for 4 to 10 days to allow for the government to take instruction (at least in theory) from the respective party memberships. What is NOT normal is to prorogue the queen to close parliament so early and for so long a period of time as to effectively cripple the government in the run up to a major political event, prevent debate and allow for dictatorial rule by the prime minister.

LenHazell53 comments on Aug 28, 2019:
Some here may recall the famous case of Doctor Hawley Harvey Crippen, executed in 1910 for the murder of his wife in cold blood. His name is still a synonym for murderer, though he insisted to the moment he was dropped and hanged by the neck that he was innocent. The two years ago three pieces of evidence came to light 1) a letter written by Mrs Crippen from the USA to then home secretary Winston Churchill proclaiming she was alive and well and living in Wisconsin. The letter was apparently misplaced by Churchill and was uncovered during research for a new biography in his collected papers. 2) The blood stain found on a mattress found in Cripin's basement was from a man 3) Mrs Crippen's death certificate under her new married name was found in Wisconsin dated many years after the unfortunate doctors execution. decedents of the Crippen family are still fighting for a posthumous pardon for their ancestor, however until such time as one is granted in the eyes of history and the law the interred remains of an innocent man remain in unhallowed ground and the man himself is still a convicted murderer with no right of appeal, because of course he is dead, a life cut short in punishment for a crime he definitely did not commit. This is why no matter how "Obvious" it is that some one is guilty of a crime state sanctioned execution is never a suitable punishment, as it is neither a punishment nor is it Justice, it is a public act revenge.

LenHazell53 comments on Aug 28, 2019:
The whole point of the word literally, in such a context is to differentiate the sentence from metaphor, and figurative descriptions. It was and is not an emphasis but has been accepted as such through no other reason but ignorance and the attempts of the largely illiterate to sound educated without actually bothering to understand what they are saying. "*I* Know what *I* mean" is a pointless protestation if no one else has a clue, or because of your word choice believe "you" to mean something entirely different.

We must teach our children to be kind and to warn them that if you punch a bully in the face he or she will likely come back with a gang and put you in hospital. Bullies are a social problem that society must take seriously and deal within early life and stop promoting violence in the home as a good thing. Oh and also NOT all bullies are boys or men women have and are bullies too. We must teach our sons and daughters to prefer peace, war is not exciting or easy or something to be glorified or wished for in oder to make armaments profits. Teach this to all people and deal with those deranged enough to think otherwise BEFORE they become a problem. The enemy of violence is not more violence it is education. There is still darkness in this world true but the answer of to darkness is not to cover it in another layer of gun and bomb smoke. offense being the best defense is a dangerous myth. You teach the coming generations to see the value in peace, and mutual cooperation. The responsibility to raise intelligent and compassionate people lays with the parent or parents of all people as members of a justly governed society that values people more than profits.
