@Charlene The main problem with German measles is when a pregnant woman is exposed to it,(even one who has been immunized or has had the disease herself) she may not suffer much, but the child can be born sterile, brain damaged, blind and a whole host of other nasty consequences. This is why there is such a concerted effort to wipe it out.

LenHazell53 replies on Apr 22, 2019:
Actually no it was not. It is owned by the state of France but operated by the Vatican as such it is a state property and is in a condition known as self insurance. No insurance company can be engaged as that would be public funds being filtered in to private business, under French law that is illegal, the government is expected to maintain their own properties. The RC church is effectively a tenant, paying in kind with services (no pun intended) for accommodation, they insure their contents of the building but not the building itself. Hence all the sudden attack of Virtue signalling from business, using the tax money they have fiddled in the past, to right off legitimately against next years tax demand as a charitable donation. Everyone's a winner.

@Holden @Novelty @Heraclitus Either you are ill informed or indiscriminately cutting and pasting without checking your information. Josephus makes one mention of Jesus, it is a clear forgery and has been known to be such for hundreds of years However Josephus spends an entire chapter talking about John the Baptist as being hailed as the messiah and the Christians (the anointed ones) who are JOHN's followers. No where in any of his descriptions of the story of the Baptist does he ever mentions Jesus, let alone John being his herald. John was an important socio political figure, a famous preacher and was reported on by Roman historians, Jewish historian and even Samaritan historians, something the Modern Christian (Jesus) church like to play down. “common knowledge among biblical scholars, believers and non believers alike.” Pliny *the younger* not writing contemporarily to the supposed time of Jesus but in his court records as a magistrate mentions not Jesus but an already long established sect of people calling themselves Christians, the followers of an executed prophet. He is referring to the arrested followers of John, who were still making a political nuisance of themselves and had long since been declared an illegal organisation. Deducing Jesus from the writings of Pliny is akin to some future historian deducing the existence of Spiderman as a real person from old photos of comicon in which someone dressed up as superhuman. “common knowledge among biblical scholars, believers and non believers alike.” Tacitus was writing circa 100AD and again described not Jesus but a “new” popular cult of Christians, people who where a damned nuisance and were actually in his opinion comical in their pacifism. If these were followers of Jesus, John we don't know, because it the mention is only a passing joke, a bit of light relief for his readers. “common knowledge among biblical scholars, believers and non believers alike.”

LenHazell53 replies on Apr 17, 2019:
@Heraclitus That is pushing it, Luke describes the cliff as being outside of the town, close enough that Jesus could be dragged to it's edge, after leaving the synagogue on a sabbath. In Jewish tradition a sabbath's days journey is no more than a couple of hundred yards, Mount Percice is a mile and a half away from the edge of the city, so he would have to be dragged to the city edge, across open country and then they would have to climb it in order to throw him off it. This is hardly what Luke 4:29 describes 29 They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. Nazareth is not built on a hill and has no cliff edge and is in a valley (see pic) This another one of those medieval Christian fake tourist traps like the site of the stable in Bethlehem, the site of the crucifixion and the site of the empty tomb. As for there being buildings discovered there contemporary to the supposed time of Christ, unless they had Chez Jesus written on them in angelic fire so what?

@GuyKeith The Josh Brolin version does measure up reasonably well to the 2003 Korean version, but in all honesty neither version does justice to the sheer grotesqueries of the original graphic serialisation (it's not fair to class this story as simply a manga), mainly because Park Chan-wook altered so much in order to have it fit in with his thematic Vengeance trilogy. Spike Lee's version, despite his protestations to the contrary is simply a remake of the Korean film, following its plot rather than the nuances of the original story.

@WilliamFleming There is no such thing in mainstream science as "a blind and stupid belief in the tenets of materialistic scientism.", in fact I would go so far as to say there is no such thing full stop. The sentence makes no sense at all. I will assume you are talking about the tenets of scientific materialism in which case had ANY evidence at all ever been presented to back up the absurd claims of religion and a so called spirituality (or even a definition offered of the latter) it would have been tested observed and raised to the level of an accepted theory at least 100 years ago. It has not, because it has never been able to offer any evidence let alone present it any scientific model, any mathematical model or even a reasonable hypothesis. You cannot sweep under the carpet that which does not exist, that is a purview of the loonatic fringe of conspiracy theorist alone. On the second point in modern times, many scientist have acknowledged the possibility of some kind of higher power, some have even strayed in to Deism acknowledging the Universe it self as a possible contender for that title, none that I am aware of have acnowledged a foundation or even an acceptance of the concept of faith.

LenHazell53 replies on Apr 12, 2019:
The 1963 film is over rated and though still vastly superior to the 1999 version lacks much of the supressed erotisism the 99 was able to explore more fully. Many "brilliant intellectuals down through history have expressed religious sentiments." because if they didn't or went against them they got burned to death as heretics or were given over to the tender ministrations of the inquisition, so they had the intelligence to lie and pay lip service. Only religion has and needs martyrs.

Disparity or none equality can only be judged in matters quantifiable by scale, such as physical strength, intelligence quotient, amount of knowledge, acquisitions and the wealth of the family one is born in to etc or in matters of abstract concepts such as right to justice, happiness and so forth.

@Meili The reality is that since 2015, several large software companies have refused to give the LDS discounts on their software licenses and invoiced them for the full amount at the renewal date of 2020. The IRS suspecting cicaneray approached apple to ask them why this was and Apple told them the LDS no longer met their criteria for a humanitarian charity, because of the Nov 2015 policy change on the children of Homosexual couples. The IRS checked this with other software companies and found that those who did supply the LDS had already withdrawn their discounts and those that didn't had already informed the LDS they would not offer them reduced licences on the grounds of their homophobic policies. Apparently BYU students were desperately trying to develop their own alternate software before the current licences expire in 2020. but as yet were no where near doing so. The IRS approached the church and told them that since they take their definition of a humanitarian organisation from popular business practice, if the LDS continued to be refused charitable status by business, they too would have to reconsider the church's exempt status. HEY PRESTO revelation from god not to pick on the kids of homosexuals.

LenHazell53 replies on Apr 2, 2019:
Okay I have looked in to the case from a number of other reports and investigations, the probability is beyond reasonable doubt that Lewis was the killer. However the Fox reports are biased and twisted in a manner to inflame public anger and start a false moral panic, by making it appear that their may have been a racial bias to the original trial, there was not, the first trial was disallowed after a hung jury came about because of genuine concerns were raised of coercion and evidence tampering, these all proved after proper investigation to be unfounded, allowing for the second trial to convict, with no chance of appeal as the evidence was overwhelming. However the fact that Lewis is seriously mentally unstable is not mentioned in the Fox article, his confessed motive being he killed Ms Vetrano, because his neighbors had been playing music too loudly and this had put him in a bad mood, or that he had twice previously been arrest for public nuisance for spying on neighbors. So to go back to your original point, it is good a dangerous man has been arrested and taken off the streets and justice is done, but typical of Fox fear bating the reason SOME men do this is because they are criminally insane, with a history of disturbing behaviour and a need to feel empowered, not as Fox likes to promote because Black Men and men in general just do this sort of thing.
