"putting its idea of animal welfare above freedom of religion." quite right, no matter what the religion, if it preaches cruelty toward dumb animals it needs to be rethought. Laws on humane animal slaughter exist for good reasons, I'm no vegan, I am a confirmed carnivore, but deliberate and unnecessary torture of animals in order to fulfill religious ritual is an act of barbarism. To fuck with any deity that demands that, and fuck anyone who would do that for a living, they are both monsters.
Still wondering?...

NABALITIC.
LenHazell53 comments on Dec 14, 2020:
Nabal actually is the Hebrew word for fool. In the story Nabal refuses to due pay taxes to King David, because he considers himself to wealthy and important to be subject to the same laws as everyone else. (Sounds familiar). The wife of the fool is named Abigail (Hebrew for "A father's Joy.") she pays the taxes to David herself and apologizes, so David agrees not to kill her husband for tax evasion and insulting the king. God however is righteously pissed and strikes Nabal down with paralysis and a few days in agony later kills him and orders David to Marry Abigail and so inherit all Nabal's wealth and property, on which he as King no longer need pay any tax. The Story is reminiscent of that of Ananias who lied about his wealth so as to avoid tithing to the early Christian church and was struck down dead by god for tax evasion. Useful little religious parables for priest to extort money from idiots.

Nurdle is a VERY old Cornish word, first popularised in the 1950's by "Rambling Sid Rumpole" a character played on radio by Keneth Williams. The word was also made in to part of his catch phrase by Michael Bentine in his TV comedy programme "It's a Square World" in the 1960's and later in "Potty Time" in the 1970s, where when frustrated with some one he would exclaim "You Nikki nine Noddling Nurdle!" It is another word for yokel, or village idiot and can also mean to play cricket over cautiously.
