Some thinking on drawing a line between moral decisions and religious decisions.
LenHazell53 comments on Feb 3, 2020:
Religious Moral decisions tend to be based on how much the decision serves the well being of the particular religion. Humanitarian Moral decisions tend to be based on how much the decision serves the well being of the people as people. Secular Moral decisions tend to be based on how much the decision serves the pragmatic well being of the particular society with no regard for religiosity. Economic Moral decisions tend to be based on how much the decision serves the well being of the plutocracy.

"Senator Andre Jacque (R-De Pere) says "Ethan's Law" would prevent the placement of a child into the care of a non-parent with a criminal record of violence or abuse. The young boy's tragic death shed light on a loophole Senator Jacque says needs to be fixed. In 2016, after allegations of neglect by his mother, Ethan Hauschultz was placed in the care of his great uncle Timothy Hauschultz and his wife, Tina, just outside Manitowoc. "He was placed with somebody who should not have been entrusted with his care. I mean, there were red flags all over the place," says Sen. Jacque. In April 2018, Ethan died after court records say he was beaten by the Hauschultz's then-14-year-old son Damian and, at the direction of Timothy Hauschultz, was forced to carry a piece of wood outside in the snow for two hours as punishment " According to several source the punishment in question however was not a failure to learn bible verses but was for impudence to a school teacher. https://www.wbay.com/content/news/Ethans-Law-Drafted-After-Young-Boys-Tragic-Death-566381831.html

Terrorism is a specifically chosen, demographically tested and evocative word, meant to bring about fear in the masses and provoke panic and a demand to be kept free from, at the cost of freedom to, from those who see safety as more desirable than liberty and/or privacy.

Interesting when you consider "androcide" (the antonym of femicide) is NOT a criminal offense in any country in the world, and is only a war crime if it is the specific targeting of enemy boys who may grow up to be combatants. Murder is murder, homicide is none gender specific (Hom being from the Greek homo meaning of the same type or species, not the Latin Homo meaning male)

Are we afraid of religion?
LenHazell53 comments on Jan 30, 2020:
Religion in itself is not the problem, it is the powerful positions it has placed its adherents in, the slavish brainwashed mentality of it's followers, the political and legal clout the institutions can exert and the persecution they can instill. Yes that frightens me, because it is real unlike he subjects of the so many conspiracy theories, religion is real, is powerful, is ruthless, merciless and lauds praises and honours upon those who are most insane among them for acts that if carried out for any other reason would be universally condemned. Religion is societies accepted madness and a poison imbibed with gusto by those who insist it is ambrosia.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot! I know Kevin Smith has been talking about making sequels for a long ...
LenHazell53 comments on Jan 27, 2020:
"The trailer looks lame. Mewes has aged a LOT. But I will watch" That is the point, Smith as always is side swiping the Hollywood establishment, in this case rebooting old ideas, by pointing out the stupidity of them, the inappropriate casting of actors way to old for the parts simply to cash in on their name, and basically exploiting the movie going audience, which in this case he is openly telling them and making it a part of the joke. When the original Jay and Silent Bob strike back was released the official site for the film was a series of bad reviews and troll posts saying what a bad idea it it was, and how the rip off trend at the time was to take minor characters from successful movies and give them their own spin offs. So now we have "teenage Stoner Jay played by a middle aged family man and "fat, silent" Bob played by the now almost emaciated "Smith" as he cruises his way toward his pension, going to Hollywood to demand more money in a shameless cash grab. Chasing Amy was about the abuse and dehumanisation of women and he got Harvey Wienstien to to distribute it but refused to take any of his money for production so he (Weinstien), could not interfere in production or editing. Tusk was a parody of body horror tropes Yoga Hosers was a dig at Hollywood nepotism Red State was marketed with the false publicity that it ended with an angelic invasion and the day of judgment Dogma (Smith's Masterpiece in MHO) was protested as being sacrilegious by Smith himself and features in it's opening titles an apology to any platypus lovers who might be offended by the opening credits. Jersey Girl was released only a few years after of another film with the same name and was I think mostly done to fuck with Ben Affleck. And Malrats was Smith figuring he got lucky once so wanted to have fun before the bubble burst by dressing up as batman, playing at star wars and seeing how far he could go with gross out humour. (To his shock the only scene cut was one where Jay accidentally masturbates in to the hair of an unsuspecting Gwen and she ends up walking about with a stuck up quiff for several scenes. A scene Smith credits himself with having inspired one of the Farley brothers most iconic moments four years later. Personally I would have loved to see Moose Jaws made first before the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, but what are you going to do? The man is a satirist and he moves with the times.

Thoughts on extraterrestrial life?
LenHazell53 comments on Jan 23, 2020:
Extra terrestrial life and UFOs are not necessarily the same thing. For example the reports of arrowhead shaped UFOs first appearing rather than the traditional flying saucer coincided with early secret test flights for stealth bombers and fighters ( and coincidentally with the release of the first star wars film) Since the reunification of Germany plans have come to light for the the development by the Nazis and later the East German communists for the development of flying disks, development that went on well in to the late 1950s the hight of the "Flying saucer" hysteria. Also given the enormous distances involved I personally find it more likely we would encounter extra dimensional beings before we encounter extra terrestrial entities (the many worlds theory of Quantum physics would seem to back this up) If life from elsewhere exists however (and statistically it is likely) and we do not know about it, there are I think three possibilities. Such information has been classified, by us or by them They think we are dangerous and keep well away from us Or perhaps we ARE the first intelligent life to evolve in the universe/omniverse capable of deducing the likely hood of other sentient beings.

Only Matthew says there was *a* guard on the tomb, there is not mention of any guard in any other gospel and common sense would make one wonder why the Romans would post a sentry on a Jewish tomb of what amounted to a simple commoner executed for sedition against the Jewish state not the Roman empire? other contradictory details include Mark 16:1-3, Luke 23:55-56—A group of women who were at Jesus’ burial come back later to anoint his body Matthew—Joseph wraps the body, and the women come the next morning, but no mention is made of anointing Jesus John 19:39-40—Joseph of Arimathea anoints Jesus’ body before burial Mark 16:1—Three women visit Jesus’ tomb: Mary Magdalene, a second Mary, and Salome. They arrive after sunrise Matthew 28:1—Two women visit Jesus’ tomb: Mary Magdalene and another Mary. They arrive at about dawn Luke 24:10—At least five women visit Jesus’ tomb: Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, Joanna, and “other women.” It is early dawn when they arrive John 20:1—One woman visits Jesus’ tomb: Mary Magdalene. She later fetches Peter and another disciple. It is dark when they arrive Mark 16:4, Luke 24:2, John 20:1—The stone in front of Jesus’ tomb had been rolled away Matthew 28:1-2—The stone in front of Jesus’ tomb was still in place and would be rolled away later Mark 16:5—The women enter the tomb and meet one young man in there Matthew 28:2—An angel arrives during an earthquake and rolls the stone away, and sits on it outside. Pilate’s guards are also there Luke 24:2-4—The women enter the tomb, and two men suddenly appear — it’s not clear if they are inside or outside John 20:12—The women do not enter the tomb, but there are two angels sitting inside and all this culminates in Mark 16:8—The women keep quiet, despite being told to spread the word Matthew 28:8—The women go tell the disciples Luke 24:9—The women tell “the eleven and to all the rest.” John 20:10-11— Mary stays to cry while the two disciples just go home Even as a child this all seemed like unreliable bull to me.

This is not new, I recall reading articles in the new Scientist 20 years ago about women working the arctic or antarctic while pregnant had discovered that their children even when moved back to temperate climates had a higher resistance to cold than either of their parents. This lead to research that discovered that environmental factor trigger in the mother the release of DNA modifying enzymes that predispose the embryo to climatic resistance. The same thing had been discovered in ant colonies thirty years ago, where a queen that had imbibed small amounts of pesticides gave birth the larva that were immune to the poison. It therefore long been known that implanting the embryo of one species in to the womb of another species wildly changes the temperament and physicality of the fetus which rarely if ever can be carried to term. The idea that DNA alone predetermines the outcome of the pregnancy, has long since been debunked

Anyone recall this Tommie Smith (center) and John Carlos (right) protest racism at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City. Jessie Owens Salutes army style in 1936 to offset the Nazi salutes and show the world he refused to capitulate to fascist rules. Back then as I recall these were thought to be an heroic gestures, that's how it was taught to me in school anyway. This fucking do-gooder out of control idiotic shit is starting make me feel the world would not be worth pissing on if it was on fire...WHICH IT IS!
I'm so fucking tired of courts and states protecting religions when it comes to sexual abuse (and ...

Fear has historically and etymologically always only had two meanings Fear from Old English fær "calamity, sudden danger, peril, sudden attack," from Proto-Germanic *feraz "danger" And Old English færan "to plot against," from Old Norse færa "to taunt." used to mean "to drive away by inducing fear," attested early 15c. Fear of God is quite literally that in the liturgical and theological sense, terror of that which cannot be stood against, capitulation and love for the undeniable overlord demanding appeasement and worship. The churches have always ruled by fear and terror, fear of Hell, fear of the inquisition, fear of the power of the church as representative of god incarnate.
Truth be told ...

Why would he be fictitious? We all know blond haired, blue eyed, fair skinned ancient middle eastern people who frequented Vidal Sassoon, 10 x great granddad's salon. What's not to be convinced by?
Difference between Christianity and Islam?
LenHazell53 comments on Jan 11, 2020:
The only difference is 400 years, other than that not much. They are both about (or have been about) control and wealth, they are both politically influential, they both hate other religions and gay people, they both think terrifying people in to conversion is a legitimate way to expand their base membership and both believe that women are to blame for everything.

"The judge, who was elected in November 2018, is alleged to have hired her lover, a former pastor, and allowed ... her male lover and a third court employee, a woman, also are alleged to have engaged in sexual activity in the courthouse." Never... a pastor engaging in sexual shenanigans...unbelievable.

This totally insane or perhaps not if this mad bitch wins her case the LDS church can go back to covering up child abuse, claiming this case as a precedent, and it only costs them a measly $9.54 million
